In Jewish law, items with Kedushas Damim (lower holiness) can be redeemed by transferring their holiness to money, but items with Kedushas Haguf (higher holiness) cannot be redeemed, even if they become Tamei; this distinction applies to sacrifices like Mincha, Nesachim, and other offerings, with the exception that only animals (Beheima) can be redeemed, not birds, wood, fragrances, or Kli Shares (vessels).

CHAZARAH - Menachos Daf 101 | "Nothing but the Daf" with R' Eli StefanskyAdded:
Good morning Rabbis We are learning Mishnah Eev Rosh Hashanah 20 20 20. Zot the hidden gem mission. So before we start the mission, I just want to give a a very short introduction. There are two things when it comes to Kodshim. There's something called Kedushas Damim and Kedushas Haguf. Kedushas Damim is step one.
Kedushas Haguf is step two. Kedushas Damim, you bring an animal to the Beis Hamikdash.
It has Kedusha, but on a lower level.
It's only monetary Kedusha. Kedushas Damim, then you do something to it, to the Korban, to the Mincha, to the Lechem Hapanim, it all of a sudden gets a higher Kedusha called Kedushas Haguf.
>> [clears throat] >> So says the Mishnah, that a Mincha, Nesachim, flour, wine, Shenitmu, something bad happened to them, they became Tamei. So they became Tamei, you can't use it anymore. So what do you do? Now, what do you do?
What you do is you redeem it.
How do you redeem something?
You have money in your pocket and you say, you don't even have to take the money, you don't have to do a physical thing, you say, >> [snorts] >> "This flour over here that's Tamei, the Kedusha should fly into my money in my pocket." And that's what happens, it automatically transfers.
It goes from the flour into my pocket.
My flour becomes Chulin, now I can use it for whatever I want. It becomes Kodesh. And now with the money I buy I buy flour.
Now notice that the Mishnah says, Shenitmu, something bad happened.
Shmuel right away says in the Gemara, "No, not necessarily."
There's a reason why the Mishnah said that something bad, no matter what. I can take flour that has Kedusha, it only has a lower Kedusha Kedushas Damim, and I can transfer that Kedusha to money.
What's the problem? It doesn't have to be Tamei. Actually, Kodshim Bikli, if there was no you didn't put the flour into a Kli Shares, so it's still Kedushas Damim, so you you Shlav Piga, you can redeem it.
Mishnah Kodshim Bikli, but once you put the flour, the wine, into a Kli Shares, into a some sort of vessel, you have a special De'as Orin vessel that gives Kedusha, you have the the Chatzis Orin, whatever, but you have the um the jug that gives Kedusha, Ein Lo Pidyon. You can't redeem it.
Ha'ofos Ve'eitzim U'lbonah, you have birds, you have [snorts] wood, you have the fragrances. U'Kli Shares, and another thing, birds, wood, fragrances, Kli Shares, the actual Kli.
Mishnitmu, when it became Tamei, okay, that doesn't really apply to birds, birds don't really become Tamei, so let's say that they had a Mum, Ein Lohem Pidyon. Even if it became Tamei, there's no Pidyon, you cannot redeem them.
Why? She'ein Ne'emar Pidyon Ela Be'beheima.
There's no Pidyon only in an animal, not in a bird, and certainly not in a Kli Shares that became Tamei. Omer Shmuel, comes Shmuel and says, "This that you can take flour and redeem it and take the Kedusha, remove the Kedusha from the flour and place it into money, and use the flour for whatever you want, V'afilu Ein Lo Pidyon Lifneihem." The Gemara is going to go to town on Shmuel the entire Amud Aleph.
How could it be? It's impossible. But that's what Shmuel says. Shmuel says, "Our Mishnah is not literal.
It's stuck in the word that became Tamei, that there was a problem, and only because there was a problem you could do Pidyon." He says, "No, you don't need a problem.
Anytime you have Kedushas Damim and not Kedushas Haguf, I can go and redeem it.
V'afilu Ein Lo Pidyon, Mai Ta'ama?
K'vod Ha'Kavod Bikli Kedushas Damim Ninu. As long as you didn't put it into a Kli, it remains just a very lower level Kedushas Damim. U'Kedushas Damim Lifneihem. What's the problem? I can redeem a Kedushas Damim.
I understand if it's a Chatas, it's a strong Kedusha, you can't you can't redeem. But you have also Bedek Habayis, you have a lot of stuff that people donate to the to the upkeep of the of the Beis Hamikdash, you can redeem. So this is like a similar level Kedushas Damim.
Aiva Nitmu Nan, everybody's going to ask the question, the third word in the Mishnah says that something happened to it and that's why you redeemed it, it became Tamei. No, why do I have to get the word Nitmu? You don't need it to be Tamei. Bedek Habayis Mishnah Seifa, Mishnah Kodshim Bikli, Ein Lo Pidyon.
Once it goes in the Kli, it says the Mishnah, if it goes into the Kli, you can't redeem it. D'afilu Nitmu Nani Loi.
Even in a very severe case where it became Tamei, you're not permitted to redeem it. That's a big Chiddush. It's in the Kli, it has super Kedusha of Kedushas Haguf, that's it, it's locked in, you can never redeem it, even if it became Tamei. So Tanna Rabbi Yishmael, Shluvei Machloikes Bikli. So the the to mimic the Seifa, we say in the Reisha that it became Tamei, but it's Lav Davka. Now, if it became if it's in the Kli, there's no Pidyon Pshita, that's Poshe, Kedushas Haguf Ninu. Once it's Kedushas Haguf, how are you going to redeem Kedushas Haguf? Itztrach. Says the Gemara, "No, I would think that if it's in a Kli and it has Kedusha and and became Tamei, you could redeem it. Why?
Sagi D'amri Lo Ba'al Mum K'Tamei, Tamei Navi K'Ba'al Mum K'Tamei. Interesting.
If the Torah, the Gemara is going to prove soon that the Torah calls something that has a Mum Tamei.
So therefore let's reverse it. Something that's Tamei is a Ba'al Mum.
It's the same thing.
If you're a Ba'al Mum, you're Tamei, so if you're Tamei, you're Ba'al Mum.
You're on the same the same category. So you we call you it's it's it's a nickname. Tamei is Ba'al Mum, Ba'al Mum is Ba'al Tamei. So Mamila Ba'al Mum of the Kodesh Kedushas Haguf K'Ba'al Mum Me'ubrak. We know the famous, I'm not going to show it really.
This is the the short version of Kevin's line.
Even if a if an animal has Kedushas Haguf, it has Kedusha, and it has a Mum, it's a Mum.
So you can redeem you can redeem it. So Tamei is also a Mum. What's the difference if it broke its bone or became Tamei? Both of them you can't put on the Mizbei'ach.
Hadinan Milibra, maybe it should be able to redeem it. K'Machshavin Lo Lav K'Tamei K'Ba'al Mum. No, no, this is not what the Torah called a a Tamei a Ba'al Mum.
D'mikli Shares Le'ashchin Me'ubrak. Once there is a Kli Shares involved over here, you cannot redeem. Says Rashi a unbelievable thing. I don't know, I think this is a Chiddush Gadol that maybe we'll call it the Chiddush of the date. Says Rashi, I'll read inside. Lav Shayi Kodshim Bikli Shares, V'afilu Beheima Ba'alas Mum She'ein Lo Pidyon Lav Shayi K'Kli Shares. Even a Ba'al Mum Lav Shayi K'Kli Shares. K'Goyim Says Rashi, Shishah Chot. Rashi says that the knife in the Beis Hamikdash is a Kli Shares. You ever thought about that?
Then the you it's a Chiddush, what? To me it's a Chiddush. It doesn't have a basic keyboard, doesn't it's not a Kli, it's a like a Pshutei Kli Mateches.
Anyways, it's a Kli, and that Kli shechted the animal, boom, it became Kodesh Kedushas Haguf through the Shechitah, no redeem no redemption.
>> [clears throat] >> Now, just as a side note, Ba'al Mum Heich K'Tamei, where where do we the Gemara said Ba'al Mum is a called a Tamei, so a Tamei is called a Ba'al Mum.
But where do you see that a Ba'al Mum is called a Tamei?
Disanya.
Now if you were to read the Pasuk with me, you would say, "V'im Kol Beheima T'me'a." What does it Beheima T'me'a mean? A Beheima T'me'a, what is a Beheima T'hora, like a cow? What's a Beheima T'me'a?
A donkey, a horse, a camel, maybe a Dov Acher.
No, that's not the Pshat.
V'im Kol Beheima T'me'a She'lo Yikarev Menah Korban Lashem, that's how a Tzeduki would learn it maybe.
Ba'alei Mumim Shenitmu K'Ba'alei Mumim.
A a Beheima T'me'a in this Pasuk, in this Pasuk in particular, means an animal that's Kosher that developed a Mum.
A Torah Ba'alei Mumim She'podo Ein Lo Ba'alei Mumim T'me'im Ba'alei Mumim. Who told you? I mean, the the simple Pshat in the Pasuk is that we're talking about a horse.
K'Shu'eimei Beheima T'me'a U'podo Ba'akecha. That if somebody was Magdish a horse to the Beis Hamikdash, so you redeem it. Says the Meforshei Pasuk. A Beheima T'me'a Mumra, I don't need a second Pasuk to tell me the same exact thing. U'man Avi Kayim Im Kol Beheima T'me'a Ba'alei Mumim She'podo K'Ba'alei Mumim. Mid'amrei So Mamila the the Pasuk that says Im Kol Beheima Im Kol Beheima T'me'a is referring to a Ba'al Mum and the Torah calls it a Tamei. Tamei Ba'al Mum are are the same.
As a side thing, Yochlei Podo Ba'al Mum Oiver.
Let's say an animal develops a leprosy.
It will go to the doctor, take some antibiotics, it will go away.
So maybe you could redeem it. Tam Lo Yomar No, you can't redeem it. That that's that's that's a that's cheating.
Ashrei Yikarev Menah Korban Lashem.
Mishain Yikarev Lashem Kol Eicha, that has to be something that can never sacrifice, can never bring as a Korban.
Yochal Lezuz She'ein Yikarev Hayom Yikarev Lemochor. It's okay, one day delay, cuz now it has some sort of leprosy, it has Shchin, it will go away tomorrow. We say this, you cannot redeem something like that.
So now Chamo. What does Shmuel say?
Because that's that's today's Sugya until Amud Beis, until the bottom of Amud Aleph.
Shmuel is of the opinion that if you have a Mincha that's Tahor, nothing wrong with it, and it has Kedusha, why? Cuz you said, "I am going to bring this on the Mizbei'ach." It has Kedushas Damim.
If I feel like it, I can redeem it even if nothing's wrong with it. Doesn't have to be Tamei.
Me'iseira Rav Huna Bar Menashe, Ha'ofos Ve'eitzim Our Mishnah, our I'll ask you a question from our Mishnah. It says at the end of the Mishnah, Ha'ofos Ve'eitzim U'lbonah, you have a bird, you have wood, you have the fragrances, U'Kli Shares, and a knife of the Beis Hamikdash She'nitmu K'Tamei, Ein Lohem Pidyon, you cannot redeem them. Why?
She'ein Ne'emar Pidyon Ela Be'beheima.
Because there's no redemption only by an animal.
And the Gemara goes one by one. Mishnah Ha'ofos, I couldn't understand what you're talking about when it comes to birds, Kedushas Haguf Ninu. Even a bird has the real Kedusha of Kedushas Haguf.
D'ein Ne'emar Ela Be'beheima. And that And that the Mishnah says there's redemption for animals and not for birds, even though they they they have the same level of Kedusha. Ela Eitzim U'lbonah, if you have let's say L'bonah with before it went to a position, before it had a Kli Shares, U'Kli Shares, and the Kli Shares itself, it's what is what are they considered right now at this point? Kedushas Damim.
Leiparku. What's the problem? Why can't you redeem them? According to Shmuel, any good wishes dummy you could redeem without any reason. So, why can't you redeem them?
Because typically speaking, we have to say pshat that Shmuel's wrong. You cannot redeem something that's tahor.
And these these particular items they are considered tahor. Why?
So, the Shita Mekubetzes takes this line out.
I'm going to read it just cuz I have a a riddle.
El Chibes Hakodesh do not really consider food.
It's just the love of Hashem.
Cuz Hashem loves it, so it's okay. We'll make it as if, but la halacha, it's it's food.
So, first of all, the wood it If you don't chop it up into the proper size in here or here, this one. No, no, not the ninja. Just You need special size wood.
You can't just take a big giant trunk of a tree.
If you don't have the special the size that the Gemara tells us it's not kosher.
And levana also before it's in klisharis, it doesn't become it's not kashra.
I call pa'anam.
So, it's a problem with Shmuel. Shmuel says that if there's nothing wrong with the with the mincha, you could still redeem it.
And from the mishna it's mashma you can't redeem. Says the Gemara, lo that typically speaking you could redeem something that doesn't have an issue with it. If it only has kdushas damim go ahead and redeem it. So, why does it say in our mishna it seems from our mishna that wood and levana klisharis you can't redeem even if it doesn't have an issue?
There's a special gzeiras chachamim don't redeem something that's rare.
Because if you're going to redeem something that's rare you might not be able to replace it.
Yeah?
You're going to redeem something that's rare. What are you going to do? Here you have something a a once-in-a-lifetime diamond.
I'm going to redeem it. And then what?
Where are you going to find the the the one to replace it?
Bishlam levana says the Gemara u'klisharis lo ishchicha. Okay, I get it. Klisharis you don't always have so many beautiful golden kelim. I guess levana's hard to come by.
Not so not so common. Ela eitzim, trees?
Mish kashicha? There's a lot of trees.
Says the Gemara, eitzim nami, not true.
Trees are rare. Why are trees rare?
Even though amar amar kol eitz she'ein bo tzalaf pasul l'gabei mizbeach. If it has a worm it's pasul l'gabei mizbeach. Hail kol she'eich lo is a lot of most trees have worms.
They're wormy. And therefore, it's something considered uncommon.
Amar Rab Papa, says Rab Papa ishmeili l'Shmuel ha desanya. If Shmuel would have heard this thing, he wouldn't have said what he said. What did Shmuel say?
If I have flour that has nothing wrong with it it's not didn't become tamei. I just feel like I need to redeem it. Why?
Because I want to make a pancake right now with this flour that I set and my wife doesn't have flour. So, I'm going to redeem it right now. I'm going to make pancakes. In 2 hours from now I'm going to go to the store and buy more flour.
But if says Rab Papa, if he would have heard this thing, he wouldn't have said it. Why? Desanya A person takes a perfectly good sheep and says this sheep is good for the Beit Hamikdash. I'm donating it for the Beit Hamikdash, for the upkeep, for the walls. If a piece of gold falls off the wall, here, you use this your sheep and and repair.
And point it on the mizbeach. If you're going to redeem it then the money must go directly to the mizbeach, not to Beit Hamikdash. Why?
Shekol ha'roei mizbeach lo yeitzei min ha'mizbeach l'chulin. If you have something that's available to mizbeach, it can never become chulin.
It's a big [clears throat] problem on Shmuel. Over here you have something that's chulin.
It's something that's roei for mizbeach.
It's flour that's about to go on the mizbeach. And says Shmuel, like you redeem it for nothing. So, my wife can make pancakes. Over here it says if I have an animal that could go on the mizbeach even if I redeem it the money is not chulin. The money I can't do whatever I want with it. I can't I must use it just for mizbeach.
Amar Rab Papa, he would have regretted what he said. He wouldn't have said that you're allowed to redeem flour.
Says the Gemara, it's not true.
Shmuel wouldn't have taken it back.
He knows about this and he didn't take it back. Why?
You already explained the three things in the mishna, the levana, the klisharis, the wood, that they're all rare. Guess what? A normal animal normal is not so normal, yeah? It's not so common to be normal. Find a normal human being, right?
The pasul beheimah.
Since there are a lot of different things that could ruin it for an animal here like this. This this the list that we had once.
Yabelas.
How many animals don't have warts somewhere?
D'afילו b'dukin sh'ba'ayin, nami pasul.
Even a cataract pasuls them.
Zochti Gemara, Rav Kahana amar, tmei'im nifdin. If there's kdushas damim and it's tamei, then you could redeem.
So, he's arguing on who?
On Shmuel. Shmuel says something that's tahor, nothing wrong with it, I could redeem. Says Rav Kahana, tahorim ein nifdin, you can never redeem.
also agrees with him. Tmei'im nifdin, tahorim ein nifdin. If it's tahor nothing wrong with it, you can't redeem.
Some say Rab Shaya said afילו tamei nifdin, that he agrees with the Shmuel that if it's tahor, you can be poideh it.
Rebbi Elazar Chulda tmei'im nifdin, tahorim ein nifdin.
Rebbi Elazar says that a mincha that's tamei you could redeem. Tahorim you cannot redeem.
He argues on Shmuel if it's tahor ein nifdin.
Chutz ma'aser sh'eivar shel minchas chotei. So, all you have over here is if you're a wealthy person and you bring an animal. If you're a poor person, you bring birds. And if you're super super poor you bring flour. So, guy doesn't have aveira and he's super super poor.
So, he sets aside flour.
Suddenly, he wins the lottery. He wins the lottery after the flour is designated. Now, what does he do? He has to bring an animal.
But what about the flour? What does he do with the flour?
So, he redeems the flour to buy the animal. And the flour he can use for pancakes.
What about the opposite?
He's super wealthy and he invested in some stock. And boof.
He became poor. He he invested high. He He bought He says, "Okay, he didn't have aveira." He brings a nice gezunta sheep.
And then he becomes super poor. What does he do?
He redeems the animal and buys flour.
So, nachon amar. Everything says Rebbi Elazar, any normal korban, any mincha, you can't redeem. But there's one exception to the rule. The asiris ha'eifa shel minchas chotei. That flour in this particular case of a chotei who became wealthy or a wealthy person became poor that you could redeem. Shari amar, told you there's a special gzeira.
It's a cause that says in the Torah, So, because of the different shinus they're allowed to redeem.
Amar Rebbi Shaya. So, now Raboisai, brand new sugia. If you're spacing out it's time to wake up now. Food could is susceptible to tumah. Can become tamei.
What if it's food that no one could eat?
It's food that no one could eat. Why?
It's ossur b'hana'ah. Orlah.
You can't even give it to the You can't give it to your cleaning lady.
Ossur. Can it be mekabel tumah or not?
So, we have a machlokes. Since it's not food really, it's food, but it's not edible to human beings, so it's not food. And if it's not food, it's not mekabel tumah. That's one way to look at it. So, says the Gemara, shamati pigul b'mincha.
A guy has a mincha.
He's as he's putting the the the mincha on the mizbeach, he thinks to himself this that he's going to eat this mincha next week. That's pigul.
Outside the allotted time, you're allowed to eat the mincha for a day. He says I'm going to eat it in a week from now.
So, therefore as soon as you do pigul, what happens?
It becomes pasul.
It becomes ossur b'hana'ah.
Rebbi Shimon ain mekabel tumah l'mishaklin. According to Rebbi Shimon, there's no it cannot be mekabel tumah.
Rashi says mitamei means it accepts tumah. Other Rishonim say mitamei that it gives off tumah.
But the idea is the same.
Why? Because it's not considered food.
Nisnan. Orlah. The first 3 years of a tree, so the the fruit is ossur b'hana'ah. Kilayim Kerem.
You have a somebody who planted wheat or according to most, even other things between the the vineyard.
Misharen es ha'egel. You have a Daf kuf alef amud beis. You have a bull who killed a human being and now you have to kill him.
And after you shachted you decided not not you know, to forego the whole the whole thing with the uh with the skila and you go ahead and you shacht the animal. Ossur b'hana'ah. You can't even give it to a You can't give it to your dog.
V'eglah arufah.
They found a person between two cities, so they do a whole ceremony with with a calf and they chop the head off.
This calf that you chopped the head off is ossur. Or let's say before you chopped the head off, you also bought them.
With your Torah.
There's two sparrow, what do we call them?
So one of them, what?
No, no, no. This is not a dove. This is a sparrow. A little those little birds that fly around.
There's beautiful picture right over there.
Cuz on the stick you have the live bird and an in the guy you take one you the other one you let go.
Who can more?
Who did it better? I don't know.
The kids are before you redeem your the firstborn donkey >> [clears throat] >> you have to to redeem the first How before you do that you have the the the is also by now.
Who bought some of if somebody cooks meat and milk together. Cool them to my second do according to the comma are susceptible to to more. If you cool them to my second no.
None of these can accept to more why?
Well we should possible should cause of all the things it's also by now so it's not considered food if it's not considered food it cannot become to my second is going to bring the possible.
We should possible however he agrees in one of the cases.
Possible of >> [clears throat] >> milk and meat should be they are why?
So he says an interesting reason. Which the is going to say why does he have to say this reason there's a better reason.
There's one time not like we think for a second that oh when the milk is by itself and the the meat is by itself the even if you put the two of them together in a pot and you just let it brew there for three hours that's the kosher. Why? Because it doesn't come also until you cook it.
So even when they were together you had the issue together it was still motor.
So since there was a moment of fitness starts with all calls it looked it up this morning. What how does the how do you say it in English? Kosher? There's a moment of fitness it was it was okay for a moment.
So it's food for 10 minutes it was food even the issue part even when the milk and the meat were together it's food then then the to my grabs on to it.
argument with Any food actually just sticking the word becomes to me but has to be edible actually okay. Actually the other guy if you could feed it to the guy the seder you can put it on the seder but if you can't it's not food.
And he explains in this context is different than usual.
The people are not sure yet you says I shall tremendous issue. Let me add to the whole list of our and everything one more thing if somebody had a mind People don't have the what about people of other things we'll discuss. But people I ruined it. I can't eat this flower forever cuz the had a terrible thought he thought he's going to eat it in a week from now. So it's not edible.
I can't give it to the guy. Can't give it to the guy then it does not become to me it's not susceptible to to more.
Ask the he hockey if your whole point is edible not edible so why is it when it came to possible the came up with an excuse not an excuse a reason. Why is possible different than everything else? Cuz had a kosher. I was able to eat the milk and the meat before I cooked it.
According to Shimon even after you cook it I could feed it to the guy the sign cuz everybody knows the three It's all it's the end of the every time.
I said three times. Why three times?
Cooking and it's all not. Shimon argues.
He says no. You're allowed to give a cheeseburger to a guy. You're allowed to own a McDonald's.
He says that it's motor by now.
by the bunch of the same word this is motor by now. Just like by if you have an animal that that died from a heart disease you're allowed to give it to your own dog even though it's going to save you money. You don't have to give a dog food. You get in other words it's motor by now.
When by by possible says Shimon I'm allowed to give it to a guy. If I'm allowed to give it to a guy then it's royal if it's royal it should be susceptible to to more. Why do I have to come on to this reason that it had a kosher? No a guy could eat it.
Once a guy could eat it it's food. It's a food item it's to more. So you write I give you two reasons.
First of all it's food that a guy could eat. But more than that void the day even if you going to focus on a Jew It had a kosher that a moment of fitness and therefore it's to more. Okay so now what does I say? I say the biggest side that if the had a bad thought while he's putting the on the that he's going to eat it after a week he did a goal and he ruined it it became also by now so it's not susceptible to to more.
Makes them more if you cool them to my second to my second issue ain't no to my second. No sir.
So if the meat stayed overnight the carbon stayed overnight leave no.
Yes no issue to my second issue no issue ain't no to my second. There's some some meat that was left overnight and you not allowed to use it.
You're not allowed to eat it. Sometimes it's to more sometimes it's not.
What's the case? Long recall even ever had a kosher it was never available for them is out.
Ain't no to my second that's my mission.
We were talking about that if it's not it's not edible so it's not to more.
Who what about people somebody now people he made a he made the issue right away. In other words there's no there's no kosher. As soon as you have a thought this thing becomes also because you maybe come. Ain't no to my second to my second. And now here goes the punchline.
People don't have to. If he was that's case that he had this thought with him in the car with time to my second issue.
It's considered food and it becomes to me and that's a bomb question on who are we who said that if you in the car in the it is not to more. Look at the kosher kosher kosher. If it never had a moment that you were able to eat it so it's not it's not to more. I can't what's the case?
Like what?
Right. Because it can't get to more when it's connected so it's not considered food.
I know the point they they they explain cuz it can't be to more but the point is if it can't be to more cuz it's connected it's not edible.
It's not it's not considered food. I can't the kosher. Like the he made it when it was connected.
Ask the of kosher.
So what if he was in the let him redeem it.
So the says I should be shy of them should be here.
If we go with the with we said in the beginning I know that according to there's two ways to learn either agreed with they agreed with If you go with the with the that he that he says that to hire me argued with that when it's you cannot redeem. Okay so here's a case of that car you can't redeem it.
I can't do it now. But according to the to the to the that holds that you could redeem something that's how come in this case you can't redeem?
So tomorrow has to be but he didn't redeem it and since he didn't redeem it so never had a kosher.
But now it just asks a very simple question.
So now what? You could redeem it.
And if you would have redeemed it that's okay. But since he didn't redeem it so never had a kosher. It's not a question. Let's say you have a a yeah? You had a it's also by now. Can't have an offer of to more.
Is it to more or not?
Based on what we said that anything that you cannot give to a guy is not to more. give to a guy is not mikavle tumah.
You can't eat it. It's not something that you can't go and make a steak out of a parah adumah.
Not for you, not for a guy. Is it mikavle tumah? Yes or no? And the answer is it is mikavle tumah. Why?
So that that's the Gemara's question here. The what?
Typical the classic question. You're right, this individual didn't redeem it, but he couldn't redeem it.
And since he could redeem it, it's considered as if he did redeem it.
And how do I see that? From a parah adumah.
Cuz if you don't say that, cancel by parah adumah, I have a big problem.
Parah adumah, since I could redeem it, even after I shechted it, I could replace it with a bigger, larger parah adumah.
So even though it's assur hana'ah, it's considered as if I redeemed it. If I redeemed it, that's why it's it's mikavle tumah.
Typically, it shouldn't be mikavle tumah. Why? Cuz I can't eat it, I can't do anything with it. But since I could redeem it, so then I I I'm going to consider as if I did redeem it, and then therefore it's mikavle tumah. So by also also, says the Gemara, the kiddie in the boy park lay, but the maysi could redeem it.
Cuz it has it had a time that it was it was fit.
Parah nif is a god my after. Even after you shechted you could redeem it.
Says Gemara, okay, that's a parah adumah, but not flour.
The parah adumah, you have a 100 lb parah adumah, I want to I want to redeem it and buy a I have a much better parah adumah, 200 lb.
Like on Shabbos, you have you buy a fish on on Tuesday, and you find a nicer fish, so you give the kilo you ate on Tuesday your Shabbos fish.
Uh so parah adumah, so you upgrade, you're allowed to upgrade.
There's no mitzvah to be parah adumah.
Flour, Rabbi Yisrael have a >> [music] >> wonderful day.
