Throughout history, technological revolutions have repeatedly sparked human anxiety about job displacement, as seen during the Industrial Revolution when machines replaced artisanal work, and now with AI encroaching on intellectual and creative fields; this pattern suggests that societies may respond to technological disruption by developing cultural movements that emphasize uniquely human qualities like creativity, emotion, and spirituality, as exemplified by Romanticism's response to industrialization.

AI and the industrial revolution #booktok #booktubetbr #history #booktubeAdded:
Many of us are concerned about losing our jobs to AI. But, what if I told you this was not the first time in history that people were worried about being replaced by machines? We've seen this before, during the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries. This was the time when the first factories were built, and machines came to replace artisanal jobs like the making of pottery and textiles. This changed where and how people lived. It changed the social fabric. It changed everything.
Now, something very similar is happening again. AI is encroaching on intellectual and creative work. Writing, design, academia, social media. Looking back to the 18th century, artists and literary thinkers and critics responded to the Industrial Revolution in interesting ways. There emerged a movement called Romanticism, which prioritized the opposite of mechanization. Think nature, emotion, unbounded spirituality, human creativity. Might AI produce the same kind of response in the arts? I'm not sure. What do you think?
