A commendable synthesis of real-time reporting and geological pedagogy that turns a minor tremor into a lucid lesson on tectonic pressure. It effectively bridges the gap between raw seismic data and public scientific literacy.

There was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake early this morning there in Nevada by Silver Springs. It occurred at 7:39 a.m. today, April 19th. Here you can see the 4.7.
They're saying it's a aftershock of the magnitude 5.7 earthquake that was on April 14th. So far, just today in the last 24 hours, there has been 37 earthquakes.
And um fairly shallow. Here you can see the most recent a 1.6 was just 1.9 miles in depth.
Um this one here it says zero. Now, all earthquakes are measured from sea level.
So, there there could be some surface faults that have uh shown up there.
Um this one here is um 7 miles in depth.
Um and the 4.7 that was 3.7 miles in depth. That's a lot of earthquakes in just 24 hours.
Yeah, in the last week there's been 285 earthquakes. Look at that. That's just it's amazing. Anyone living there in that area need to check their gas and water lines.
Uh San Ramon where they've had that earthquake swarm, too. They're saying that people noticed um that they got outrageous water bills because they did not anticipate uh the cracks in their water lines. So, that possibly could be going on here, too.
Strong shaking was reported. Evidently, so far, 302 people sent in felt reports to USGS that they felt it.
Um they gave it an intensity level of four. Let's see the strongest reports that USGS has on here.
Intensity level five, three reports.
Yeah, that's some strong shaking. What kind of damage do you have? Have you checked your water and gas lines? The farthest report so far that's come in is from Sonora. Intensity level two, one report there.
186 km to the I'll probably southwest. So, that would be about 115 miles.
Farthest to the west, Grass Valley.
Okay, intensity level two.
173 km to the west. So, that would be about 107 miles.
Let's go closer to the epicenter.
Yeah, we know that that one was intensity five.
Um more reports, six intensity four.
Let's see, 21 reports intensity four.
One report for the 4.7 sent in to EMSC uh from Sparks, Nevada.
I'm on the fourth floor of a large apartment complex.
Mild brief shaking enough to be noticed.
For one of the more recent aftershocks, a magnitude 3.0, here's a report from Fernley. It woke me out of bed about 10 minutes ago in Fernley, Nevada. It was very short-lived, but was definitely noticeable.
Now, for intensity level five, means it was felt by nearly everyone.
Many were awakened. Yeah, some people might have been sleeping in being Sunday.
Uh they didn't get up early to go to church or anything like that.
Some dishes, windows broken.
Unstable objects overturned.
And if they got pendulum clocks, they may have stopped.
Now, for intensity level four, felt indoors by many, outdoors by a few.
Uh during the day, at night some may have been woken up. Dishes, windows, and doors would have been rattling.
Walls making creaking sounds.
Uh sensation like a heavy truck striking a building. Standing motor cars would have rocked noticeably. No recent videos have surfaced as of yet of this recent 4.7 earthquake.
If you did have shaking and happen to capture it on video, yeah, send me a link. Thank you. All these earthquakes are occurring on what's called the Walker Lane seismic zone. The Walker Lane um seismic zone accounts for about 25% of the pressure that has built up from the tectonic plate movement. There's a lot of faults in this location.
Yeah, I got some faults drawn out. Here you can see this is the Walker Lane down here, but it, you know, continues up into this location and I marked out some of the other uh faults because there was a swarm of faults or earthquakes, I should say, uh back in December of last year. Yeah, let me bring that in. You can see them all.
Yeah, so yeah, you see all the different little offshoots.
Her Hopefully you can see them all.
Many of these offshoots are unnamed faults. I had reported about how we could have uh northern lights um late last night and the night before from the solar winds from the coronal hole on the sun and they do affect um the Earth and cause earthquakes. I've reported that, too. It also affects people's health.
A lot of stress.
Um could make people go into early labor or have have heart attacks, things like that. Did you happen to see the northern lights early this morning or late last night? Yeah, this is the KP index showing when yeah, the solar winds were impacting the Earth.
So, we could have earthquakes, large earthquakes in other locations around the world. Be aware of that and be prepared. Here you can see the moment tensor ball how the fault um dipped down.
Um yeah, going going towards the south it looks like here.
Looks like a um traditional strike-slip earthquake. An aftershock of that 5.7.
I've reported, too, that any earthquake does have a 10% chance of being a foreshock for something much larger.
Now, originally when they had the 5.7, um USGS said there was um a 64% chance of magnitude threes or greater for the next week.
Uh 11% chance of a magnitude four or greater for the next week.
And for a five or greater, only a 1% chance.
Yeah, originally they said it was only 11% chance.
So, yeah, this 4.7 >> [laughter] >> yeah, fell into that 11% chance.
6,492 people did send in reports that they felt that magnitude 5.7 um back on the 14th. USGS gave it an intensity level of seven. Here's the felt reports. Yeah, as far as south as uh close Yeah, past Los Angeles it looks like.
Uh all the way down there.
Yeah, okay.
And then going back to today, yeah, check your infrastructure there.
Yeah, you just don't, you know, want unexpected um damage to come later, which always could happen.
So, what are your thoughts? Did you feel this earthquake? Please put your comments down below. Thank you very much for watching.
Please like, share, and subscribe. I'll talk to you later.
God bless you. Bye.
