Techplant elevates home gardening into a rigorous laboratory, proving that true botanical mastery requires empirical experimentation over generic care guides. It is a refreshing shift from mere aesthetic plant-parenting to genuine biological inquiry.

Plant Experiments, The Plant Wall, And PlanksAdded:
What's up, guys? And welcome back to TechPlan. We are in the jerk chamber here. We're going to do a few updates on some stuff going on in the plant room.
Let's check it out. All right, pop quiz.
What do you call the participant in the experiment who sits in the corner and watches the other plant get jerked?
Starts with a C. For real though, we almost did lose these uh experiments in the flood because all these electronics were just kind of hanging out in the water. Luckily, somehow nothing was damaged. So, the experiment is uh continuing on here. We're making up for some lost jerks during the 3 days that it took me to clean up the flooding and stuff. So, uh, we're we got to get that 250,000 before the experiment is over.
But, all right. This is basically just like a halfway point here. But, I can feel this is so stiff. It's crazy how strong this has gotten compared to this one. This one bends with ease. This one is just like rock hard. It's crazy.
Yeah. You thought we were done with those jokes, but you're wrong. Here's another thing I really want to show you guys, and I haven't really talked about it all that much. You may have seen it in like some video footage of me like doing stuff to the wall. This is an ant plant, and this used to be so much smaller than the pot, but it's actually grown so much. It was doing pretty darn good and like growing well and whatnot, but suddenly I noticed it started to actually flower. And the cooler thing is one of the flowers actually produced a seed. So, I do have it in some spagnum moss now, and it's sitting in a little cup. And hopefully we can get a baby out of there. But I'll try and show some close-ups. But yeah, there's little flowers here. I'm going to try and pollinate it. I'm pretty sure like a a little uh fungusnat or something pollinated it. So, like a lot of people like to hate all the little pests, but actually I get a lot of accidental pollination from pests. So, it's kind of cool. Here's another just beautiful plant. I'll just show you for the sake of uh seeing it.
This is a venom here. Alicasia venom. I got this from Korea and it's still just doing fantastic.
I mean, look at this awesome leaf. The only problem is I can't get more than one leaf. So, I don't know what's going on there. Looks like another one is starting here, but still, it's like it struggles to have more than one leaf.
So, maybe I got to pot it up in a different medium. But when it's back lit like this, it looks so cool. Like, look at that. Look at that. Wow.
But yeah, it's an absolutely fabulous plant. Some actual good news here is the rock wall is coming together. I do have to do like a new layer of like colored veneer. I just added a bunch of pockets and stuff to this wall. Um, you can see now there's a lot done. Before this was mostly chicken wire and you can still see in this upper right hand corner here, there's the last bit of chicken wire, but I've got these big deep creasses here and cracks and little pockets. We're going to be able to put all sorts of plants in here. I can get some big stuff hanging out of here.
These deep cracks, a lot of pockets back here.
I mean, this this part of the wall is a lot better here, and we're going to have a lot of room for some really cool stuff to grow out of here. This has taken me like what, almost two years at this point, but um I'll show you this side here, too. There's all kinds of little pockets, so we'll have some cool stuff hanging out. Like I said, deep cracks is stuffed with moss. And the only part that we're waiting on is just this little bit here. And then I can do one big color sweep over this entire wall.
And that'll give us like a much better uh appearance because I did a lot of testing on this first part here, but it was uh not the best. So, I don't think I'm going to go as dark black cuz this is already kind of looking a little natural and once we get some moss and stuff, I think it will start to look good. But, yeah, this is going to be pretty awesome. Overall, my collection is just not in very good shape. It's just been a very busy uh last couple of uh basically years, you could almost say. But, you know, slowly but surely, I'm going to start to get things back into uh position here. That's not good.
I kind of need this guy to survive, but he's barely hanging on. But anyways, um a lot of stuff is kind of in like a perpetual mode of just like kind of waiting for me to get my stuff together. So, that'll happen in the next week or so. Um I have been getting some of the projects done like I said in the beginning of the year, but I've got a bunch of seedlings in here. Some have perished, some have thrived, but uh yeah, there's just a lot of work in the plant room. You know, a lot of people ask me about the those cactuses, the dragon fruit ones, and they're still alive, just doing literally nothing.
Overall, the collection though is in like some sad shape. I got to do a lot of repotting. I mean, this is the giant paos right here. Well, no, this is the giant paos race. So, if you can see here, I've just kind of like let it grow past the plank. And you can see it is starting to shrink and suffer significantly. And that's basically what they do when they go beyond there. The giant paos. This is so funny. Look at how bare this thing is. I tried to start it again. I did have it growing really well on a plank and then I let it extend past. So, this one's still got some size, but we definitely need to get it back on something cuz it's starting to shrink. I do have a number of items on actual planks and I have some new paos started, so that's pretty good. Um, the crazy thing is, you know, in the great PAOS race, it took like almost two planks to start sizing up, but I'm I'm only on a half a plank here, and this this this leaf is already like really elongated here. Let me get like a little bit zoomed in here.
So, this one is cruising. It's already attached. I don't know how big this leaf is going to be, but I've also got this uh filendran melanocrism. I want to get this huge.
So, I've got this one on there, too.
This next leaf is going to be pretty darn big. So, hoping to get a lot of stuff on planks here. I got another example of paos. Paos seem to really love these things, too. Got some rare monsteras on there. I'm hoping to get those going. And I got a lot of like Addisoni and uh what's the other one?
Like stiletto or something like that. I forget what they call it. But they should all get going on here pretty soon. I want to get them massive. So, it's going to be pretty good. I've got a lot of stuff started and we just got to follow through this time. I did pick up some new plants.
Maybe you can kind of get a little peek.
I'll make a video of just everything I've collected in the last like six months because I started collecting plants again. I know my collection is like a mess right now, but um these are just plants I've wanted for a while and maybe you can guess what these are through the little greenhouse bag. I'm not going to take them out yet cuz I want to get rid of some of the pests on the either on them or even in my collection. So, uh yeah, they're hanging out in here and I will do a little reveal soon. But um things are moving along. Well, I think this pretty much sums up this mini update. The in-laws are here, so I will have more time for YouTube. Really, this was a mini update.
I just wanted to show you the plant jerker just because I had a few more jokes I wanted to make, especially uh the Well, it doesn't matter. You You already got the jokes. But yeah, anyways, guys, as always, may your plants go strong and healthy. I'll see you next time.
