British police have widened their investigation into Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to include allegations of sexual misconduct and corruption, beyond the original suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his role as a trade envoy and alleged information sharing with Jeffrey Epstein; this expansion of the investigation's scope has raised concerns about the potential for injustice and represents a significant challenge for the monarchy institution.

British police heading down ‘dangerous road’ after asking for Andrew allegationsAdded:
What we know is that there was this shooting outside of the White House. The suspect in this case was shot by Secret Service. He was killed. He's been named by the media as Nazir Best, a 21-year-old who seems to have had long track record of mental health problems. Actually attempted to get into the White House and not that long ago. I think it was only July 2025. So there's very much that we don't know at the moment other than the fact there was also a bystander who was injured. We're not sure by whom, whether it was Best or whether it was the Secret Service returning fire. But given the fact that this happened only a month after the attempted assassination of Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner in which once again we saw members of the American press corps having to shelter in place and duck for cover. It's another reminder of the elevated threat that seems to exist in America, this rising political violence. Even if in this particular case it seems that it might be an individual who was more deranged than politicized. But we will wait to find out more of the details, I suppose.
Well, Tom, let's go now to the UK and Sir Keir Starmer. He's certainly digging his feet in despite being on borrowed time. What do you make of of what's going on?
I mean Keir Starmer hasn't got a lot of cards left to play as I'm sure it's been covered extensively on Sky News Australia. There is this upcoming by-election in Greater Manchester in Wakefield where his primary challenger to the leadership, Andy Burnham, is attempting to get back in Westminster to mount that response. Keir Starmer is essentially trying to brief through his intermediaries that he's not going anywhere. But I think that's primarily about what would happen if if Burnham does fall short in this by-election. If Burnham does get into Westminster, I mean it's pretty clear that MPs will line up behind him. It's pretty clear that the Labour membership will line up behind him. Starmer's only hope really is that that he he fails at that hurdle.
But um, even if that was the case, I think Keir Starmer is been is living on borrowed time, has been for some time.
He's the most unpopular Prime Minister since pollsters bothered to poll the public on the question of how popular the Prime Minister is. And the fact that that's, you know, 2 years after he received what was supposed to be a landslide majority, tells you just how fed up the public already are with this Labour government.
Well, the British police have now widened their investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
So, this now will include allegations of sexual misconduct and corruption. Can you just tell us more about what he's accused of here?
I mean, this is a little bit curious, this announcement from Thames Valley police. I mean, as many people will remember, we had the arrest and the questioning of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor back in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office that appeared to relate to his role as a as a trade envoy, allegedly passing on information to the disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein. Uh, the prince, of course, denies all wrongdoing. But, what we've seen in this statement is not to say that they have come across specific allegations, but they want people to come forward with allegations if they have them about sexual misconduct, corruption, or what have you, because they are concerned that the public have interpreted what this investigation is doing is too narrow. I personally think this is a bit of a dangerous road to go down when you have the police just openly calling for allegations of a certain character can lead to injustices. But, um, nevertheless, it's quite clear that this investigation is is going nowhere. If anything, the remit of it is broadening, and this will drag on and on and on and be a running sore for not just the prince himself, but the institution of the monarchy more broadly.
Yeah, you're you're spot-on there.
They're certainly making headlines for the wrong reasons. I will leave it there. Thank you so much, Tom.
