[00:00:00]Uh we'll be basically looking at simultaneous equation solving. In our last class we looked at simultaneous equation by substitution method. But today we are going to look at simultaneous equation by elimination method. To solve simultaneous equation by elimination method, it is very very simple. Okay. Please let us know where you're watching from. Let us know where you're watching from. So to solve simultaneous equation by elimination method, it is simple. First thing you have to do is to check if the coefficients of x or y are the same. So for instance, if I have something like uh 2x - y is 6 and I have again to be 2x + 4 y is 1. This is a simple example of a simultaneous equation. You know, simultaneous equation involves solving multiple equations uh together at once. Okay, where the values of the unknown satisfy both equations. So first thing I have to do here is to assign this to be equation one and assign this to be my equation two. So on getting this I will now check the coefficients. If I look here, the coefficient of x here is 2 and the coefficient of x here is two. Why? The coefficient of y here is minus1 and the coefficient of y here is four. So the easiest way to eliminate is to use the one that has the same coefficient. So that if I subtract them, I can now have what? Zero. Hence, it is eliminated. It is out. So what do I do? I will subtract this.

So if I have these two equations first thing I have to look at is the coefficient of the variable. For the first equation x is one, y is minus1. For the second equation x coefficient is four and y coefficient is + one. So here what I have to do is that if I look well at the coefficients of y they are almost the same. It's just that this is minus one and this is one. So to get rid of this I can simply eliminate the y. So to eliminate the y I will add the two equation because you know that 1 + - 1 + 1 is giving you zero. So y is eliminated. So, what I have to have now is x + 4x. What is the value for x + 4x?

So if you have this thing this system now it is very very easy to solve. First thing you see is that for equation one the coefficient of x here is one and coefficient of y here is + two. For equation two, cofficient of x is still one and cofficient of y is minus2. So for us to solve this, the easiest way to do is to eliminate the x.
