Why Do We Worship God with Songs? 🎵 PLUS 40 Minutes of Christian Music for KidsAdded:
Standing.
Fingers.
Laugh and Bible.
>> The book of songs.
>> Do you like to sing?
>> Me? Actually, I do. Jesus loves me. This I know for the Bible tells me so.
>> Very nice. Thank you. Singing makes me happy.
>> Me, too. Did you know there are lots of examples of people singing and worshiping God in the Bible?
>> In the Bible? Really?
>> Oh, yes. For example, after God used Moses to free the Israelites from Egypt, Moses and Miriam led them in a victory song.
Oh, sing to the Lord because he has given us the victory.
>> And one time Paul even sang and worshiped God while he was in prison.
>> Praise the Lord.
>> The Bible has many stories of people who sang songs.
>> Oh, an angel sang too. Hallelujah.
>> Yes. When Jesus was born.
>> That must have been amazing.
>> And guess what? There's a whole book in the Bible that is nothing but songs.
>> Really?
>> Mhm. It's called the book of Psalms.
>> Psalms? Uh, what does that mean?
>> Psalms means songs.
In the book of Psalms, there are happy songs for praising God, sad songs that help us bring our troubles to God, songs that celebrate God's law, and songs of thanksgiving.
Why, there are even songs about wisdom and songs all about Israel's kings.
>> Wow, that's a lot of Psalms.
>> Yep, there are 150 of them.
150. That's a lot.
>> It is.
One of the most popular psalms was written by David. Psalm 23.
God is my shepherd. He gives me everything I need. He lets me rest in green pastures near fresh crystal streams. God refreshes my soul. My cup is so full it overflows.
>> Aw, that makes me think of a little sheep that is being taken care of by his shepherd.
>> Me too. It reminds us of how God is our shepherd. Let's hear the next part.
God keeps me on the right path so I won't go astray. Even in the dark valleys, I don't need to be afraid.
God is always with me. He guides me with such care. He feeds and takes good care of me. Even if my enemy is near, God anoints my head with oil. My cup is so full it overflows.
>> That reminds me to think about God if I get scared.
>> Yes, David had some hard times, but this psalm was a reminder that God was always there to help him.
>> I'm so glad that God is always with us.
>> Me, too. And then the psalm ends with, >> "I know God's love will be with me for now and all eternity."
>> I like that psalm. It makes me feel close to God.
>> That's why psalms are important. The psalms remind us that God is with us in happy times, sad times, and all the times in between. Isn't that amazing? It sure is.
>> And just like we sing certain songs on different occasions like >> Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. We wish you a merry Christmas. We wish you a merry Christmas. If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
>> There are psalms for different times of our life. There's even a psalm that encourages us to ask God for forgiveness when we've done something wrong.
>> Really?
>> Yes. You see, one day when David sinned and he felt so sorry that he wrote Psalm 51. Create in me a clean heart, oh God.
Help me be faithful to you. Don't send me away because of my sin. Help me not to stray again. Give me back the joy I had before. Help me obey you forever more. Create in me a clean heart, oh God. Help me be faithful to you.
>> David sure was sorry.
>> He was. David knew he couldn't make good choices all by himself. He needed God's love to help him do what is right.
>> So, he asked God to make his heart new and clean.
>> You got it. And besides teaching us about God's love and how to worship him, the Psalms remind us that it's okay to be honest with God about all the different ways we feel.
>> Wow.
150 psalms that I can read every time I feel happy, sad, mad, or glad.
Do you like to sing? So do I.
God's people sang when they laughed or cried.
From Moses sister to angels on high.
Songs filled the Bible from earth to sky.
God gave us songs to sing his praise, to shout his joy and cry our pain, to speak our praise and dance and play.
Songs for every kind of day.
The book of Psalms has one.
That's a lot of songs. We know happy ones that praise the Lord.
Sad ones when our hearts are sore. Psalm 23.
By David's hand, the Lord's my shepher. Soft and grand.
Green pasturious streets.
A table spread.
Even in fear, he's spirit led.
Psalm 51.
When David was wrong, he asked God's help to make him strong, created the ugly heart.
For your faithful love I care for.
God gave us songs to sing his praise.
To shout his joy and cry our pain.
To speak our prayers and dance and play.
Songs for every kind of day.
If you're happy, sad, or feeling mad, the psalms are there to make hearts glad.
Talk to God in every way. He hears your song every day.
God give us songs to sing his praise.
To shout his joy. Sh and cry to speak our prayers and dance in song for every kind of day.
In the beginning, God made the stars, the sun, the moon, and Jupiter and Mars.
He made the earth and all that's in it.
Birds that fly and bugs that fill it.
Then he made two special friends, Adam and Eve. His love won't end. He gave them a garden big and wide. And he walked with them side by side.
Go with God in his ways always. He knows best every single day. Go with God in his ways. Always trust his heart and choose his way.
God said, "All these trees are yours.
Just one tree don't eat, of course." But a sneaky snake came crawling by and told a very big old lie. Adam and Eve were tricked that day. They didn't go God's perfect way. They ate the fruit from that one tree and chose their own way God could see.
Go with God in his ways always. He knows best every single day. Go with God in his ways always. Trust his heart and choose his way.
But God had a rescue plan so kind to heal the world and make things right.
He sent his son to show his grace so we can walk with him every day.
Go with God in his ways always. He knows best every single day. Go with God in his ways. Always trust his heart and choose his way.
>> Do you remember Adam and Eve?
They trust a snake and got deceived.
They went their way, not God's way. And sin came to the world that day.
>> What is sin again?
>> It's when we say, "I'll do it my way."
When we turn from God and walk away, God has a rescue plan for the world and me. He wipes away the stain, sets our hearts free. Jesus came to love us, to show us what's true. God has a rescue plan for me and you.
Sin brings hurt. It leads us wrong. But God's been planning all along. He saw us lost, alone, afraid. So he sent Jesus to make a way from the state of sin. He washes us clean from the power of sin. He sets us free from the presence of sin. He'll make all things new. And we'll live with him forever, too.
God has a rescue plan for the world and me. He wipes away the stain, sets our hearts free. Jesus came to love us, to show us what's true. God has a rescue plan for me and you.
>> Yay.
God really does have a rescue plan. Yes, he always has. And it includes you.
The world had turned away from truth.
Hearts were dark and war was loose.
God looked down with a broken heart.
This can't go on. It's time to restart.
So he started over. One man stood when the rest fell back. Noah said yes and stayed on track. People mocker but he stayed brave. One wooden boat, one world to sail. Raise the ark.
Let it sail through the storm. He will prevail. Thunder cracks and rivers rage.
And God used to make the same with every way. His promised days made it through those 40 days. Love will rise rise above until we see the wings of a dove.
Rain came down like a pounding drum, but no one knew what he'd become. A man of faith, a man who heard the voice of God, his holy word.
What about the animals?
Two by two they climbed aboard a boat of hope through winds that roared. Seasick scared but not alone. God would bring them back home. The mountain rose, the skies clear blue. And in that moment, all was new. God painted colors for all to see. A loud promise of his mercy.
Raise the ark. Let it sail through the flood. His love won't fail.
Every storm bows to his hand. He's the rock for us to stand. He made a way. He made it true. He had a rescue plan for me and you. Let the blood be washed away. We live in hope to sing today.
That wasn't just a flood.
>> It was a new beginning.
Moses saw something weird. A bush was burning, but it didn't burn up.
Moses was a shepherd man walking in the sand. He saw a bush all full of fire, but it didn't burn the land. Then he heard a voice say, "Take off your sandals. You're on holy ground. I've got a job you can handle." God said, "Go to Pharaoh. Tell them loud and clear. Let my people go. They don't belong here.
It's time to get them out. I'll show you the way. With me by your side, you'll know what to say.
God will go with you. You have what it takes. With God on your side, there's no mistake.
You can be great. You can be strong.
God be with you all along.
God will go with you.
You have what it takes.
Moses said, "But I'm too shy. I'm not the speaking kind. What if Pharaoh laughs at me? I'll just get left behind.
But God said, "Don't worry. Just take your staff." And then poof, it turned into a snake real fast. A bush that talks snake from a snake. God's big plans can happen quick. Even if you're nervous, too, God will still be there with you.
God will go with you. You have what it takes. With God on your side, there's no mistake.
You can be brave. You can be strong.
God's been with you all along.
God will go with you.
You have what it takes.
God will go with you.
You have what it takes.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
He gave them all to you.
You must not have any other gods but me.
Do not make idols. Let them be. Be careful how you use my name. Remember the Sabbath. Honor the day. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. He gave them all to you.
Honor your father. Honor your mother. Do not murder anyone ever. No adultery.
Don't break love's trust. Do not steal.
Be fair and just. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. He gave them all to you.
Don't tell lies. Always tell what's true. Don't coveret what doesn't belong to you. God gave directions to show us the way. Follow them daily. Walk in his ways. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. Honor God and follow his commandments. He gave them all to you.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
Honor God and follow his commandments.
He gave them all to you.

Oh wo oh oh.
Daniel prayed three times a day. Oh, even when the law said no way oh.
The king's men frowned. That's not allowed. Oh, Daniel stayed brave. He prayed out loud.
TRUST GOD, HE'S BIGGER THAN LIONS.
TRUST GOD, HE'S STRONGER THAN FEAR.
TRUST GOD, he's bigger than lions. His love is always near. Heat. Heat.
is always the king was sad. He shook his head. Oh, throw Daniel in the lion's den.
He told that Daniel would be all right.
Oh, but he couldn't sleep all night.
TRUST GOD, HE'S BIGGER THAN LIONS. TRUST GOD, HE'S STRONGER than fear.
TRUST GOD, HE'S BIGGER than lions. His love is always near.
Trust God, he's bigger than lions. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Oh, the king ran down before sunrise.
Daniel, are you safe? He cried.
Oh. Yes. God closed the lion's mouth up tight.
Oh, he kept me safe all through the night.
Trust God, he's bigger than lions.
Trust God, he's stronger than fear.
Trust God, he's bigger than lions. His love is always there.
Trust God, he's bigger than lions. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Hey. Hey. Hey.
Oh, Samuel was looking for a king.
Someone big, strong, tough, and tall.
But God said, "Wait, there's someone else.
He doesn't look like a king at all."
Oh, Samuel wondered, could it be true?
The shepherd boy, small and young, but God whispered loud and clear, he's the one. He's the chosen one. David didn't look like a king. He looked like a king.
>> But God sees deeper. He sees the heart within small, short, or tall. God can use each one. He loves us all.
David was sheep, sang his songs. Not a warrior, not a kingly type, but inside David had the heart to trust in God and do what's right. Samuel listened and anointed him. But David didn't seem the part.
>> God said clearly, "Don't be fooled. I choose people by their heart. They look like a king. He looks like a kid." But God sees deeper. He sees the heart within. Big or small, short or tall.
God, can you teach what he loves us all?
The Philistines are attacking and King Saul needs brave and mighty men to fight.
>> Little David, watch the sheep, watch the sheep, watch the sheep. Little David, watch the sheep. Out in the field all day. Then one day he heard a shout, heard a shout, heard a shout. A giant named Goliath was stomping all about.
The soldiers were afraid to fight, afraid to fight, afraid to fight. But David knew that God was strong and he would give him life.
With a sling and a stone, he wasn't alone. God helped David be so brave.
He swung you around. It hit with a sound and the people all were saved.
So when you're small, don't be afraid.
Be afraid. Be afraid. Just like David, trust in God. He helps you every day.
With a sling and a stone. He wasn't alone. God help David be so brave.
We can be moved with stories told with God. We are brave.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. With a sling and a stone, he wasn't alone. David be so brave.
He's running around and with the sound and the people.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

>> Jesus is coming down the way, riding on a donkey. Hallelujah. The crowd all shouted, "Hosana, hosana, hosana, hosana, king of kings. Hosana, hosana." A parade for a king. The leaders were mad. Tell them to hush. But Jesus said, "No, don't make them shush. If they stay quiet, the whole world will ring. Even the rocks will sing.
Even the rocks will sing. Hosana.

King of kings. Hosana. Hosana. A parade for a king.

Wave and sing. Hosana. Hosana. A pray for a king.
Jesus loved us so he came to show the way.
He healed and helped and taught us, then gave his life one day.
Jesus paid it all.
All to him I owe.
Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.
The sky grew dark and quiet.
The ground began to shake.
He said, "It is finished for love and mercy sake.
Jesus paid it all. Jesus paid it all.
All to him I owe.
Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.
He loves me as he does.
He'll never let me go. Oh, he died and rose to save me, to make my heart white as snow.
Jesus paid it all.
All to him I owe.
Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.
Jesus paid it all. Jesus paid it all. To him I owe.
Sin had left a crimson stain.
He washed it white as snow.
An angel came down after that dark dark day. Roll that heavy stone away.
The guards were shook. They couldn't believe. The tomb was empty. Jesus was free. He is alive. Hallelujah.
The storm rolled away. It's true. Yeah.
Shout it out. Dance and sing. Jesus is our risen king.
He is alive. Hallelu.
Hope is here to stay.
Clap your hands. The world will sing.
He's alive for you and me. Amazing.
Mary at the tomb stood near.
The angel said, "He's not here." Then Jesus walked up by her side. Don't be afraid. I'm alive. He is alive.
Hallelujah.
The storm rolled away. It's true.
Shout it out. Dance and sing. Jesus is our risen king.
He is alive. Hallelu.
Hope is here to stay.
Clap your hands. The world will see.
He's alive for you and me.
Saul was mean to Jesus.
He wanted their message to come to an end.
>> But God had a plan and it started one day.
When a bright light stopped, Saul on his way. Who are you? I'm Jesus, the one you're hurting. Soul. soul, also known as Paul.
From an enemy to a friend, he answered God's call.
He was walking down the road when a bright light came and Jesus called him by his name Saul, also known as Paul.
Saul couldn't see, but he heard the voice.
Jesus was giving him a brand new choice.
God sent a helper who came to pray and Saul was changed that very day.
>> I can see I believe in Jesus.
Saul Saul also known as Paul.
From an enemy to a friend, he answered God's call.

Telling all the people what they need to know. Jesus is alive and his love will grow. Paul keeps on going. Go, go, go.
God picked Paul for a great big plan to tell the world about the son of man he walked. He sailed. Got stuck in jail.
But Paul kept moving without fail.
Paul keeps on going. Go, go, go. Telling all the people what they need to know.
Jesus is alive and his love will grow.
