[00:00:00]Fernando Tatis Jr. might have just lost a lawsuit that is going to cost him millions and millions of dollars. Let me explain. So, way back in 2017, before Tatis even stepped on a big league diamond, he signed for $2 million with an agency sort of thing. It was a company called Big League Advance, and they advanced money to people that they thought were going to be future big leaguers, aka Big League Advance. At a dinner, Tatis accepted $2 million in exchange for 10% of his future earnings.

[00:00:24]Again, at the time, he was still a prospect, so BLA was predicting that he was going to be a superstar, and sure enough, he was. Four years later, in 2021, Tatis signed a 14-year deal worth $340 million. So, all of a sudden, that $2 million for 10% turned into $34 million over the course of the contract.

[00:00:40]But, things got ugly from there. Tatis basically said that he was taken advantage of, and he didn't really understand what he was signing. And because of that, in 2024, he actually stopped paying that contract. The two sides ended up going to court, and allegedly, Tatis just had his case dismissed. So, not only does he allegedly owe all of the money backdated to 2024 when he stopped paying, that sum is about $3.2 million, but because of attorney's fees, it's now around $4 million. And if it did actually just get dismissed, he's going to lose tens of millions of dollars. Who knows? Maybe this has been a big part of why he's struggling so bad in 2026.
