This ruling is a significant victory for the rule of law, proving that the justice system can still hold the government accountable for vindictive actions. It highlights the essential need for judicial oversight to protect individuals from state retaliation.

CHARGES DISMISSED (and some Knitting): Kilmar Abrego GarciaAdded:
All right, y'all get ready. This video is going to be entirely good news stories from the last couple of days, and it may end up being a two-parter like last time. I am really enjoying covering all of the good things that don't get amplified in the headline news, 24-hour news, anxiety, ragebait news cycle that we have right now, both on television and on social media. It's really important, I think, to focus on the wins because they are they are many.
And while I share some of those stories with you, I'm going to work on my halibet sweater. I finished all of the color work. And so, uh, I'm getting ready to do the front and the back. And it's all just straight green. It's going to be really, really easy knitting for me. So, hopefully I can speedrun through that while I speedrun through these good stories. By the way, this is a variation on the Halibet sweater by Caitlyn Hunter. She has a top-down yolked sweater and also a cardigan. I adapted the pattern for smaller needles and then I obviously like I fancied it up a little bit and um the shaping of the body is different but I was very much inspired by and used her her halibit pattern here for it. So I want to make sure to give Caitlyn credit. Oh and before I get into the good news about Kilmer Argo Garcia and Cat Abigusale um let me also say that I'm using Cascade 220 100% wool yarn. People always ask what I'm knitting with. And yes, this is a steaked cardigan. So, when I am done knitting it, I will have to take a pair of scissors and cut up the front here and add a button band to turn it into a cardigan. And hopefully, I will be able to document that process for you. It's a little bit nerve-wracking, but also really fun. We got the absolute best news yesterday that all charges against Kilar Abrego Garcia were dismissed by a federal judge. I want to talk about those charges in just a second. But remember remember Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Justice Department and sent to a torture goolog in El Salvador. The federal government admitted they wrongly they wrongly deported him. Remember, this was a period of time last year when Steven Miller and Donald Trump were really focused and and and Christino when she wasn't too busy porking Corey Luwendowski were focused on terrorizing Venezuelan immigrants in particular, rounding up hundreds of men and claiming they were involved in gangs because they had tattoos. Tattoos like autism awareness tattoos that folks got for family members or like I I love my mom tattoos, right? like the most innocuous gay pride tattoos. They were called gang members and sent to SECOT, a torture goolog in El Salvador. The director of SECOT says the only way that you leave there is in a coffin. It's known for the most egregious human rights violations.
And during that period of time, hundreds hundreds of young men were abducted by the United States government. Their rights were violated and they were deeply traumatized. I hope that when we tax all the billionaires out of existence, when we make Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos pay for what they have done, Mark Zuckerberg, that the compensation fund that is created with all of their stolen riches um is used to make recompense. So many people who have suffered and been abused and so many people who have died at the hands of Donald Trump and Christine Gnome and Steven Miller. Anyway, all of these young men were renditioned down to Venezuela. And in this sweep, this operation, right, ethnic cleansing, Kilmargo Garcia was also rounded up and sent to El Salvador. He was not renditioned. He was deported because he's originally from El Salvador. There was a an order from a judge that said he could not be deported to El Salvador.
and the United States government had to admit that they deported him in violation of a court order that he had done nothing wrong and there was no reason to deport him. But then it was a months and months and months and monthsl long battle where Pam Bondi insisted that they couldn't bring him back. They couldn't get him back. They could disappear him into a torture prison wrongly and then say, "Oh, too bad.
Guess he's just going to languish and die there." Thanks to persistence from the resistance movement, from dedicated attorneys, Abrego Garcia did come back to the United States where Pam Bondi and Todd Blanch immediately immediately trumped up the most ridiculous charges against him and arrested him. And then they were going to use that to try and you know, you know, continue to ruin his life after they had been ruining his life for months and months and months because um he and his attorneys were successful in getting justice for him and getting him returned. Donald Trump cannot handle when his plans are thwarted. Pam Bondi and Todd Blanch apparently can't either.
So they were going to try and punish him. They were going to try and get revenge for him um having his rights upheld, right, and thwarting their terrible plan. like they wanted to continue to be sending people to SECOT.
You notice they're not doing that anymore. They wanted El Salvador to build. Remember in March of last year, Donald Trump said he wanted at least six more SECs built in El Salvador and some of them for American citizens. Their plan was to build concentration camps outside of the United States so they could remove us outside of the country as a way to try and deny people their constitutional rights. That's exa exactly exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany, right? Where where's Dow?
Where's Avitz Burkina? Where where where are those? They're in Poland. They're not in Germany. I think it's important for us to remember all of the awfulness that's happened in the last year. So much has come down that we forget how terrible things have been. How many different kinds of terrible Donald Trump and Steven Miller have tried to do and Elon Musk have tried to do. how how much suffering and injustice they inflicted on Kilmaro Garcia. So when he got back to the states, he was reunited with his wife and kid. He immediately was charged by Pam Bondi and Todd Blanch. And we found out yesterday a federal judge Waverly Krenshaw uh dismissed the charges. She said that then deputy attorney general's behavior tainted the investigation with a vindictive motive. This is this is weaponizing the Justice Department. This is malicious prosecution. I'm going to be referencing here the May 22nd coverage of this story from NPR News.
The pieces by Sergio Martinez Beltron.
So, back in 2022, Argo Garcia was pulled over in a traffic stop and no charges no charges resulted at all. But then, but then after a Maryland judge ordered that the Trump administration regime had to facilitate the return of Orbego Garcia to the United States from El Salvador and they had to do that and um they were real big mad that they had to do that.
Then suddenly Todd Blanch decided to drum up charges trump up trump up charges against Garcia related to this 2022 traffic stop. He was charged with human smuggling. And Judge Krenshaw said the reopening of the closed HSI investigation is the source of the vindictiveness. She said, referring to Homeland Security Investigations, which conducted the federal criminal probe, Krenshaw said the government would not have prosecuted Arego Garcia if not for his successful lawsuit challenging the deportation to El Salvador's CC cod torture goolog. Quoting from the judge's ruling here, Todd Blanch's now unrebuted public statements tying the reopened investigation to Arbrego's successful lawsuit taints the investigation with a vindictive motive. They went on to say, "The evidence before this court sadly reflects an abuse of prosecuting power."
Abrego Garcia said in a statement, "Justice is a big word and an even bigger promise to fulfill." And I am grateful that today justice has taken a step forward. Absolutely hu huge step forward. I I said in a social media post that like justice had been served. It's only been partially served. The charges have been dropped. Abrego Garcia is united with his family. He deserves recompense. He deserves recompense for the trauma and abuse, the torture that he was put through by the federal government. And until that happens, then justice will not be fully served. Until all of the immigrants who have been harmed by Donald Trump's regime are made right, are made whole by our government, then justice will not be fully served.
Okay, I realize I'm going to run out of time here to talk about Cat Abug Guzale.
