The Commonwealth’s case against Stefon Diggs本站添加:
Good morning. I'm Drew Virtue and it's my job to tell you about the defendant's guilt. So, here goes.
That's the defense counsel. It's their job to represent their client. Um over here you have the clerk. He's going to be recording things and writing things down. That's a court officer. They're here to make sure that we're safe and to like tell you where to go if you need to use the bathroom. That's the judge. The judge has kind of a clunky job. In law school they said the judge is like the master of the law. And then that leaves you guys. You're the jury. You have a very special job. We need you to figure out what actually happened on December 2nd, 2025. And you'll see that we need you to do that because the Dedham police didn't really do that and we didn't really do that. So, we need you to figure out what happened. You're going to hear from Ms. Mila Adams. She was a chef for Mr. Diggs. And she's going to tell you that Mr. Diggs and her were texting and then they started arguing and name-calling and Mr. Diggs came into her bedroom, slapped her, put her in a headlock, and then left. But I want to remind you, it's your job to figure out what happened. Now, during the trial, Mr. Diggs has no obligation to put on a defense. And we're kind of hoping that he doesn't. So, maybe if you guys promise that you won't hold that against him, then he won't.
But even if he does, he's rich and clearly I'm not. So, I can't bribe my witnesses, but maybe he can.
Thank you.
Whoa.
It's been a long time since I talked to you guys. So, Ms. Adams was not a good witness. She was argumentative. She was avoidant. She was difficult. You guys probably just want to throw out everything that she said. But you guys are the jury. You don't have to like Ms. Adams. I certainly don't. You don't have to like the way she testified. But, she said on December 2nd, slapped her, put her in a headlock, and said some things.
If you remember when Ms. Adams was testifying, she was taking her time, and she was looking. And that's what people do when they're telling the truth, not when they're trying to think of a lie.
She told you she pulled herself together and kept smiling. You guys saw she's a smiley, happy person.
And her relationship with Mr. Diggs was complicated. He was sometimes her booty call. He was her chef, her landlord.
He's a celebrity. He's surrounded by a lot of people who really like him. Maybe that's why she texted him afterwards and gave him a birthday present. So, you're going to go into that room, and you're going to deliberate. And I can't tell you what to do, but don't come out of that room until you find Mr. Diggs guilty. I'm just kidding. I can't say that.
But, if you don't find Mr. Diggs guilty, then I want you to think about what a waste of your tax dollars this trial was.
You have an election coming up on September 1st, and my colleague, that big oaf Red Conner, >> [music] >> he's running. And he wants to keep prosecuting sham trials like this one.
And [snorts] my last name is Virtue. I didn't get into this job to do [music] this. So, please vote for Adam Deitch.
Thank you.
