You can't cook properly, you can't flush properly, you can't wash properly. You can't run a school, a clinic, a restaurant, a factory, or a home properly. And yet in South Africa, water has somehow become another service delivery lottery.

[00:00:45]It's a governance story. South Africa has water. The problem is getting it from dams, rivers, and treatment plants into people's taps. Even the president has now admitted that. In his 2026 State of the Nation Address, Cyril Ramaphosa said the real challenge is not the availability of water, but getting water to people's taps. Which is a polite way of saying the water exists, the system doesn't. The real challenge lies not in the availability of water, but in getting water to people's taps.
