ASMR l Grandpa Helps You Sleep (Explains Signs of Burn Out) #asmr #burnout #relaxingasmrAdded:
Hello my friend. Come in. Welcome.
Welcome. Have a seat. Make yourself at home.
Take your shoes off if you like. Relax.
It's good to see you. I haven't seen you in a while. It's always good to see a friend.
How have you been?
You look tired.
You feel exhausted all the time.
Sleep never refreshes you. That's too bad.
Listen, before we get started, I want to say one thing.
You know that when you come to see me, it's just you and me, right?
Anything you to me is strictly confidential. Does not go out of this room under any circumstances.
This is your safe place. This is where you come to relax, to unwind, to speak your mind, and say whatever you feel like you need to say. And you know that you will not be judged.
I'm here for you. This is where you relax.
So keep that in mind. This is a judgment free zone.
Speak your mind. Okay, good.
And so you've already told me that you're feeling exhausted all the time.
Well, that could be something medical. I don't know. But tell me what else is going on for you.
Okay. You notice kind of an attitude change. You feel like you're you're not as optimistic as you used to be. You're a little would the right word be cynical. Maybe a little distrustful of the people at work.
Okay. What else? What else?
So, you're exhausted, you're cynical, and you just feel like whatever project you're working on doesn't work. It just doesn't work. Not the way you wanted it to work.
Okay, so let's sum that up for a second.
Okay, you're feeling exhausted.
You notice that you're cynical. You don't trust people or institutions that much. You don't trust your fellow workers and you just feel ineffective.
Okay.
So, I don't know if you know this, but you're describing classic burnout symptoms.
those three things that you stated, exhaustion, cynicism, and a sense of ineffectiveness.
A classic burnout symptoms.
Now, we can get into what causes burnout. All right?
But before we get too far down the road, what I'd like to do is just take a few minutes, just to kind of help you clear your energy. Okay?
You know, one thing people don't realize is that if you work in an environment where there's a lot of negativity, a lot of negative energy that rubs off on you, your body can absorb that and you start to carry around the weight of the negativity of other people. It's a very strong strong vibe. Okay. So why don't we take just a few minutes and let me give you a little personal attention here. I want to try to soothe your body as best I can. Soo your mind especially help you to start the relaxation process. All right.
So for now if you'd like you can just keep your eyes open. Take a few deep breaths.
That's right. That's right.
Start to feel your muscles relax, especially in your shoulders.
Your shoulders and your neck. Let them let them relax. Sink into the chair.
It's a very comfortable chair. Sink into it. Let your full body weight fall into the chair. Let the chair support you.
Okay.
Okay. Now, I want you to follow my finger. Okay.
And I'm going to make some drawings here with my finger. I'm gonna trace a few objects and you can watch me if you want to. You can try to guess what I'm drawing.
But the important thing is that you focus.
Make your attention linger on my finger.
Okay?
It'll be in and it'll be out.
And while we're doing this, I want to say a few words to you that maybe you don't hear often enough.
It's important. It's very important that you know and don't just say the words actually know that you are enough just as you are.
You are perfect.
Actually, we are all perfect.
And what I mean by that is that we are perfectly imperfect.
Our imperfections are precisely what they should be.
That's a hard concept, isn't it?
I know.
Watch my finger now. Relax.
Relax.
Relax.
Can you feel your muscles letting go?
You're starting to sink in. relaxed.
Okay. So, let me tell you something.
While you're starting to get good relaxed, you have to be honest with yourself.
No one else can do that for you.
But one of the chief causes of burnout comes when people don't have the ability to say no.
When they're asked to do too many asks and they always say yes when they should learn how to say no. And they feel overwhelmed, underappreciated, and they know they know that other workers are not asked to do half as much work as them. And they get the same recognition and the same pay.
and you go unrecognized, unappreciated, and overworked.
And it's basically because you never say no to anyone.
And they learn, the bosses learn real fast, if they want to get something done, they ask you because you always say yes.
So, what we're talking about first of all is learning how to set up boundaries.
Learning how to say no when you want to say no. Or at least learn how to give yourself time and space and say, "I'll get to it, but I can't do it right now."
Okay. Does that sound like you? Are you always saying yes when you don't want to say yes?
It's a tough spot to be in, isn't it?
You think people won't like you if you say no to them.
I know.
I'm going to see if I can't pull some of these negative vibes off you. Some of these threads, other people's issues cling to us sometimes.
Let me get a brush here.
See if I can brush some of this off.
This can help relieve the tension, maybe make your muscles relax a little easier.
We're gonna just wipe off all of that negativity and negative energy.
Does it feel good?
Feels good. I know it does.
I can see your face. Start the light.
Your eyebrows are not like they were when you came in and we've we've brushed off some of the rough exterior here. Now, let's give you a little polish. Okay.
You like this?
When I was a little boy, I used to suck my thumb. So, I'm told I used to suck my thumb and I used to like to put a sock under my nose and rub it because it was soft and it felt good.
So, my daughter when she was growing up, she had this little stuffed toy and she used to do the same thing.
She suck her thumb.
And you know what? It feels great. It really does feel good.
Now, you probably don't want to go to a party and do that at the party, right?
But when you're home, go for it, man. If it makes you feel good, do it.
Just lay back.
and do something good for yourself.
Let me show you how good it feels. Okay, that feel wonderful.
Great.
Okay.
Relax.
You've done all you can do today.
It's time for you to be good to yourself.
yourself.
A little relaxation.
Your work is done for the day. Leave it at work.
Leave it at work.
Learn how to relax yourself.
Okay.
Did that feel good?
Now, let's try an experiment if you don't mind. This is not going to hurt you at all. So, hopefully you'll enjoy it. Right.
I want to put something soft up for you to look at and see if you can hear it.
Maybe you can even guess what it is, but it's very soft. It's very, very relaxing. Just lay back.
Give yourself into the relaxation. You deserve it.
Okay. So, here we go. I'm going to cover up a little bit, but you take a look and see what you think I'm doing.
Focus on the sound.
Just focus on the sound.
A great sleepy time sound.
Relax.
Relax.
Relax.
What did you think of that?
Was that a relaxing experience?
Relax.
Close your eyes.
Sink deep.
That's right.
Sink deep.
Grandpa's going to take care of you.
Okay, you can trust me.
Just relax.
You work so hard and you never carve out time for yourself.
We need to work on that.
Relax yourself.
Good.
No voices, just nice soft quiet soothing sounds.
I want you to know that I admire you.
I know how much time and hard work and energy you put into life and you're a role model.
So take care of yourself.
People look up to you. They respect you.
What's that?
You have to go now. We have to get home.
Okay.
All right.
Well, I hope this little break has been relaxing for you.
And I want you to remember, no is a complete sentence. It doesn't require any more explanation.
No.
People are not going anywhere. They need you. They rely on you.
You have the right to say no.
It'll feel awkward at first, but after a while, you'll start to feel good about yourself knowing that you are actually taking care of your own health.
Okay.
Okay, my friend.
There's a lot more we can talk about around this idea of burnout and why it's so hard to say no.
And we'll do that in future sessions.
Okay.
All right. I think you're smoothed off pretty good now.
I hope you feel lighter.
Get a good night's sleep tonight. Okay.
If your mind starts to race, start thinking about your muscles and visualizing.
Run your shoulders back and forth and visualize your shoulders muscles relaxing and all the muscles in your body starting to just relax.
Relax. Tell yourself that. That's a great mantra. Relax, relax, relax. You can say that over and over and over again. Just focus on relax.
All right. Good. All right.
Okay. Until next time.
If you enjoyed this session, please subscribe. I'd appreciate it. Okay, byebye.
