REACTION: LSU Loses QB, Adds Another As Roster Shakeup Continues!

[00:00:03]A little bit of a shake-up in the LSU quarterback room. Emil Picarella, who was a quarterback at University Lab a couple years ago, remember was a preferred walk-on onto the team, has left the LSU football program. He is going to Delta State in Cleveland, Mississippi. And so you lose a quarterback off your roster. And remember, LSU had some quarterback injuries last year. They had some situations where guys weren't on the team. There was a point where Emil Picarella was the backup quarterback on this team, but he is leaving the program, again, going to go to Delta State. And now Kaden Martin joins the team. And Kaden Martin is the son of T.

[00:00:44]Martin. And he's coming over from Middle Tennessee State. So your quarterback room gets a little bit heavier there.

[00:00:51]You're going to have now four quarterbacks. And of course, we've talked a lot about the three that you had. Now you add a fourth quarterback coming over, again, from Middle Tennessee State, Kaden Martin. And uh look, it is a a situation where your quarterback room is probably going to look a little bit different every single year. It's probably going to look different from the spring to the fall.

[00:01:15]Um you know, Lane Kiffin is certainly somebody that has gone out and has been very active in the transfer portal when it comes to the position. Again, adding three different players that were not here a year ago. And now you're adding a fourth player that wasn't here a year ago. So you're adding another quarterback, Kaden Martin, coming over from MTSU. But look, we all know Sam Levitt is going to be your number one. I think Landon Clark probably, if there was a game tomorrow and Sam Levitt couldn't go, would probably be your quarterback just because of his experience in college football. So four new quarterbacks, Matt, kind of tells you what times we're in. There's no longer going to be somebody that has been here two years, three years, four years. It has four new players in the quarterback room. Yeah, the longevity of Garrett Nussmeier is probably going to be you know, it was rare while he was here in just the world of college football and it'll be even more rare going forward. And you know, this is you know, not surprising. I guess it was a little bit surprising for me that took Picarella this this long to probably leave and throw his name in the ring somewhere else to get an opportunity especially of course you Lane Kiffin a brand new coaching staff. He brings three new quarterbacks here that he got to cherry-pick um on the program. So yeah, that's not surprising to me. And this is you know, this is this is news.

[00:02:39]This is like this is some this is some May news right here. You're bringing in your fourth quarterback.

[00:02:45]So you go from four to four. So it's you just bring in another guy and whatever Kaden Martin is you know, decision is to come here. It's what you do get to do for all these quarterbacks is throw you throw Lane Kiffin's offense onto your resume going forward. And you know, it could be some sort of for a lot of these coaches too. I mean it's a it's a resume builder to be a part of Lane Kiffin's offense. That's what Lane has has earned that throughout his years of coaching coaching college football and being successful on the offensive side. So as a quarterback yeah, you want to go play for that and have that on your resume because you know, as as weird as it sounds in college college football is players are building college resumes as well for their future landing spot and their future team.

[00:03:35]And then for a lot of guys too. I mean there's always that hope at quarterback that Turner had Chambliss just you know, laid out the blueprint for coming from a smaller college first year in and having such a huge impact on a on a playoff team that made it to the semifinals and and and damn near got to the national championship. So, like that blueprint is out there. So, for all these especially in a Lane Kiffin type of offense, every quarterback at least has a glimmer of hope on what could potentially happen. You never know how injuries are going to play out. You never know what is going to happen on the depth chart. So, like we'll see. We will see how it all plays out, but I mean, good for good for him for the Lane Kiffin spot.

[00:04:19]That is the one position where I'm never going to be mad if you add somebody to it. And it's it's going to look like that every year. It's going to be a unless you have an established starter for multiple years, which is still going to be hard to do for an established starter to play for three or four years at one college, still going to be hard to do cuz he has the opportunity to be a free agent every year.

[00:04:42]You're going to see that the quarterback room just like every other main position group is going to flip.

[00:04:47]So again, Kaden Martin going to be joining his father T Martin here at LSU and the Middle Tennessee State quarterback transfer will you know, be in that quarterback room and obviously working I'm sure with his father who's an offensive analyst. Now, he did begin his collegiate career at Miami where he played baseball. He transferred to East Tennessee State and played one baseball season there. At that point, he decided to transition to football and that's where he enrolled at Middle Tennessee. He is a 5-foot-11 left-handed thrower.

[00:05:20]So, a little bit different there who was a three-star football recruit out of high school. So, somebody that certainly was getting recruited and now you have Levitt, Longstreet, Clark, and Martin in your quarterback room. So, four new players in that room and we'll see how that all plays out.
