Slavery didn't disappear, it just evolved. It rebranded with the times. During Jim Crow, it put on a badge. During redlining, it moved into banks and it wrote drug laws to act as a funnel for the prison industrial complex that we are still living in today. Because please remember, the 13th Amendment literally says slavery is illegal except as a punishment for crime. When people act like this is ancient history, you got to understand these are bad faith actors. The wealth extracted from my ancestors did not vanish. It became Wall Street. It funded universities and built infrastructure.
