Claude Code v2.1.142 introduces full command-line configuration for background agents through new flags including --model, --effort, --permission-mode, and --mcp-config, allowing users to customize model selection, effort levels, permission modes, and MCP configurations before sessions start; the update also upgrades fast mode to Opus 4.7 by default (with an environment variable to pin to 4.6) and fixes a macOS issue where background sessions would vanish after sleep by having the daemon detect clock jumps instead of treating them as idle time.

Claude code 2.1.100 and 42 background agents just got a full configuration API right from the command line. Eight new flags for claude agents pass-model- effort- permission modeckp config- settings add- plug-in dur or dangerously skip permissions directly at dispatch time. Every background session is now fully configurable before it ever starts. Fast mode now defaults to opus 4.7. Set cloud_code_opus_4_6_fast mode override equal sign one to pin the previous version. And on Mac, background sessions no longer vanish after sleep.
The demon now detects clock jumps instead of treating them as idle time.
