[00:00:00]In 1921, an American city was bombed from the air and then it raised from history for 75 years. Greenwood, Oklahoma was called Black Wall Street, a thriving black community with hotels, law offices, and millionaires. Then on May 31st, 1921, a white mob came for it. After a black teenager was falsely accused of assaulting a white woman, armed white rioters, some deputized by the city itself, invaded Greenwood, shooting residents in the streets. Private planes flew over Greenwood. Witnesses reported gunfire and incendiary devices dropped from above. Within 18 hours, 35 blocks were ash. Over 1,200 homes destroyed. At least 300 black residents dead. The massacre was scrubbed from Oklahoma textbooks for decades. Official investigations were buried. Survivors were told to stay silent.
