Strong storms are possible tonight: Cleveland weather forecast for May 19, 2026追加:
Let's send it over to Matt on this weather impact alert day. The red bar is back.
>> Red bar is back. Steamy day today, Dave.
We're going to be dealing with another hot and humid day. We've got kind of a little haze outside this morning. It certainly does feel like another summer day. We're already at 70° at our sensor there here at the station. This is going to lend itself with the heat, humidity, and a boundary coming in from the west this afternoon to the possibility of storms developing. I think that's a guarantee, but the possibility some of those go severe, uh, that is not a guarantee, but again, the atmosphere is loaded and ready to do that. So, make sure you're weather aware. This does impact your Friday or your evening plans this afternoon. If you have, uh, the kids have sports practice or games outside, if you have barbecue plans, whatever it happens to be, we're going [snorts] to have some storms around later on this afternoon and evening. How do we set that thing up? Well, we're at 70° right now over at Hopkins. A lot of 70s on the board, if not that, upper 60s as you're getting started here on this Tuesday morning. We've got a southwest wind, which is been breezy overnight. It just feels again like a summer night.
You hear the wind blowing through the trees. It's kind of nice outside. We've got due points though that make it feel maybe not so nice. Due points are the highest they've been of the season so far. This is the most humid air we've had of the season. It feels thick outside and we've had a few showers out towards the east, couple more down towards the southwest. Can't rule out a few showers this morning as this little wave of energy moves through. Not expecting severe weather from that or anything like that. Here's our front though. We've got cold air punching into this and we had storms last night again.
Numerous tornadoes reported, lots of hail. It was a big night again in the severe uh category in the plains. This boundary from the west is going to continue to advance its way east and as we, you know, heat up a little bit with that daytime heating, we're going to likely develop storms along that boundary. It's kind of silent as it moves east. Then you see how the uh explosion of storms develops this afternoon and evening in and around northeast Ohio. Storm prediction center says we've got a severe risk not just here but all the way down towards Texas.
So another big severe weather day, but that does [snorts] include us as that frontal boundary approaches. Timing of it though, most of the day completely dry. There you go towards evening. I mean we really heat up again. I've got us in the upper 80s. Can't rule [snorts] out a few showers left over this morning with that wave in southern Ohio. So, let's talk about what those impacts are.
Again, some of those storms could be strong. We've got a hot and humid day, evening drive. Think about that. Your plans that you have, you want to make sure you have a way to get some warnings uh if they do get issued. WKYC app is a great thing to have in terms of that national hourby hour forecast. We'll time it up. Morning showers and then we clear up for a while. Hot by noon, we're into the 80s. We'll get well into the 80s if not uh near 90 this afternoon with some of that sunshine that we get.
That sunshine will help those storms surup as that boundary comes in. So our model again, not truth, but this is just kind of the thinking in a lot of the high-res models that we start to pop storms around that evening rush hour and then they really get going after that where we're dealing with strong to severe storms across the area 7 8 9:00.
Eventually all that rolls east and we would quiet down tonight and then tomorrow it's going to be a lot different. We're going to have clouds.
We'll have lingering showers around. And look at the temperatures tomorrow.
>> [snorts] >> We start in the 60s like 6:00 a.m., but then we'll fall through the 50s during the day. It's going to feel a lot cooler tomorrow and the wind's going to be coming off the lake and then waking up Thursday morning, we've got 40s in the forecast. So, in terms of those storm threats, heavy rain and damaging winds are going to be your primary threats.
You see the rainfall totals. Rain doesn't fall evenly in thunderstorms, but we could be talking over an inch of rain where those storms persist. Much cooler beyond that. Not cold. It'll be comfortable, but below average. That humidity comes way down as well. But then once we get into the weekend, your Memorial Day weekend, it turns rainy again. We dry out on Thursday and then the slug of rainfall comes back Friday into Saturday. Nothing's changed with that weekend forecast. Still looking at numerous showers Friday into Saturday.
Union Hill Mortgage 10-day forecast.
Temperatures, yeah, they get cooler tomorrow. We'll finally dry things out with sunshine on Thursday and the rain returns Friday. Friday night looking very good right now. Saturday, that rain sticks around. Best chance of rain for your Memorial Day weekend is going to be on Saturday. Sunday, leftover showers.
And then Monday for Memorial Day itself, just some stray showers around. Low7s for highs, Denita.
>> All right. think you're
