Exploring Nova Scotia's South Shore

[00:00:00]Hey guys, welcome back to a brand new video. This video is more of an adventure of vlogging video. There will be some diving. There will be some family fun times. I'm heading down to the Southshore right now with my kids and we're staying at a place called the Salt Mir Cottage. This actually started back in December 2024. this conversation between uh Lori, the owner of Saltmir Cottage and I, we had started talking um through Saltwater Shawn and uh she had invited me to come and stay at some point and then uh we just kept trying to make it happen and it wasn't working and and then finally we were able to make it happen. Lindsay and her kids will be joining us later on this evening. But I'm really excited to be going down the Southshore. I love the Southshore. But before we get there, I'm actually going to be stopping at an exit here in Chester and meeting up with a woman named Joanna, who's the owner of Sweno Swim.

[00:00:59]And Joanna has so graciously made custom swimsuits for both myself and for Lindsay. I'm going to pick those up. I don't know when we're going to model them or wear them, but I love supporting local Nova Scotia companies. And so, this is really exciting for me. [00:01:33]From the pictures that I saw, it looks amazing. And I'll be giving you the tour when I get there. This weekend should be a lot of fun. I can't wait to show off the Southshore, do some diving. I've got a couple areas in mind that I want to check out. Maybe I'll find some cool stuff. Uh but most of all, I'm just excited to be with my family and with Lindsay and her kid. Let's go.

[00:02:58]Okay, so just arrived with the kids.

[00:03:00]Lindsay's on her way. This place looks amazing. We're going to go inside. to give you the tour.

[00:03:05]>> This is one of the nicest Airbnbs I think I've ever seen. So, let's do a really quick tour. You walk in, it's got this like beautiful bright open area. They've got beautiful beers, ginger beers like that I find while diving. Um, an insane view of the ocean.

[00:03:25]Like, look at that.

[00:03:27]That is absolutely stunning. There's uh one of my boys running across the yard there. We've got like a little breakfast nook over here. Like look at all the attention to detail here. Having coffee in the morning. Then you come through here. There's like another sitting area.

[00:03:42]Another sitting area right here. It's incredible. Okay, come with me. What do you think?

[00:03:49]>> I think it's wonderful.

[00:03:50]>> Yeah. And then you get to this table.

[00:03:52]And this is right up my alley.

[00:03:55]Look at all these old bottles. I'm hoping to find my own old bottles this weekend while diving. But look at the touch. They've got old bottles and then some on the windows. Like I love it. Ah, this is amazing.

[00:04:10]>> This house is so you.

[00:04:12]>> And then like a beautiful collection of like assorted mugs and sort of things. I love coffee. And then another sitting area with a fireplace here. I even got to the back deck. Like you come out here like incredible. Incredible.

[00:04:34]>> Let's take you upstairs really quick and finish the tour. Y >> I got to show this place off. This is seriously the nicest Airbnb >> I think I've ever seen. There's a barbecue on the back deck and I'll take you upstairs now through here.

[00:04:49]>> We got another bedroom right over here for the kids to sleep in. The boys can stay in here. Then we've got another bedroom here.

[00:05:00]Like, >> wow, >> stunning. And then the cherry on top for Cherry Hill. Look at this bathroom.

[00:05:10]You've got a beautiful tub and you're looking at the ocean. I'm going to go get my drone, do some cool drone shots, then I'm just going to cook supper and relax.

[00:06:52]All right, so the first night at the cottage was amazing. The kids all had a super fun time at the fire. Today, the lobster boats are out in the water. Just having some coffee here. My kids are still sleeping upstairs. My plan is to go to like Vogler's Cove, which is down the road, and go snorkeling diving pretty soon.

[00:07:15]>> One thing I like about this cottage for morning coffees are the different types of mugs. I think we're going to go with what >> that one.

[00:07:22]>> That one for your mom.

[00:07:24]>> Okay.

[00:07:42]Hey, good morning. We had coffee, breakfast. It was a nice slow start to the morning. We are in the United Communities Marine Park in Bogler's Cove. Bogler's Cove has a history dating back as far as the 1700s. I'm hoping to find some cool bottles while I'm down here on the southshore and then I'm going to be making my way up along this area in behind me. Again, just picturesque. Let's go see what we can find in this beautiful historic cove.

[00:08:07]I'm actually so excited. I haven't been to a new spot in a really long time.

[00:08:12]Honestly, this is as good as life can get sometimes to be with someone you love, to have your kids, to be able to spend time in a beautiful place like Vogler's Cove. in the water looking for stuff. Like, I don't think it gets any better.

[00:08:52]Oh no.

[00:08:57]Oh yeah.

[00:09:25]>> I found you a poison bottle. An antique one.

[00:09:29]>> There's tons of glass.

[00:09:32]Lots of stuff. As you saw, I just kept pulling stuff out of the water. It was like shocking. Such a good day.

[00:09:44]>> Yes. You need lunch?

[00:09:45]>> Cuz it's always cool to meet people.

[00:09:50]I should have the pipe in my uh >> We're all done the dive. As you can see, there's lots and lots of glass from every decade here. Someone's belt.

[00:10:05]Uh Popeye's pipe, the longest pipe there. I just had a really good time uh cleaning up this Cove and exploring and I can't wait to come back. So, thanks for watching. See you on the next one.

[00:11:11]We at Cherry Hill Beach tonight. Lindsay and the kids are back there. It's a little windy. The other boys are running off. But what a beautiful sunset it is tonight. Just so lucky to be in here in this province.

[00:11:58]Every detail in the house is you can tell a lot of thoughts been put into it and everything is beautiful and every single detail was thought of. There wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't there.

[00:12:11]>> Agreed. And the kids love the place.

[00:12:14]They don't want to go today. We don't want to go. Um it's just an amazing scene here on the Southshore. This is definitely probably like the nicest Airbnb we've ever stayed in. Yeah, definitely. Especially for a family Airbnb.
