Tomorrow is a 31 Alert Day

[00:00:08]What exactly is in play tomorrow and what time of the day are we going to start to see the the the change start to happen? So, tomorrow's not a slam dunk when it comes to severe weather. We will see a round of showers and thunderstorms move through tomorrow morning. Now, the severe weather threat with that will be low and that kind of sets the stage for what we could see in the afternoon hours. Do we see the rain hang around through midday? That's will keep our atmosphere stabilized or does that rain move out and we see sunshine, destabilize the atmosphere and set the stage for severe weather in the afternoon hours. So, it's still a big question on tomorrow but we want to make sure that you're aware of what we could see, which is why we have that 31 alert day in place for all forms of severe weather heading into Wednesday afternoon. Here's your severe weather outlook for tomorrow and the Storm Prediction Center has expanded that level two or that slight risk to cover pretty much everyone across North Alabama. That green color, that's that level one or that marginal risk and covers pretty much from the state line up. But again, storms they don't follow boundaries. They don't know where the slight risk begins and the marginal risk ends. So, everyone has a chance of seeing some stronger thunderstorms tomorrow. Here's the threats for you. I put them in categories to make it a little easier. Gusty winds will be the main threat. We're talking 50 to 60, even 60 mph plus winds with some of those storms tomorrow afternoon. Hail, we could see some of that as well and tornado threat, it's low but it is not zero as the system pushes through. Now, along with the severe weather threat, we will be looking at a flooding risk as well. All of us level two or that slight risk for seeing flooding because these storms will be putting down some very heavy rainfall. So again, we got a lot to talk about so let's walk through future radar together.

[00:02:00]Through the morning hours, we will remain quiet. As we head into the afternoon hours, I've been showing you that complex over in Arkansas. Well, that will try to make its way into North Alabama this afternoon. By 1:00, we could start to see some showers in Northwest Alabama. Notice it just kind of fizzles out as it moves through Alabama. So, we may see a few showers today but we're not expecting severe weather. Not everyone will see the rain.

[00:02:25]Heading into the overnight hours tonight, we'll be watching for another complex to dive south out of Tennessee into North Alabama during those overnight hours. Now, the overall severe threat with this will remain low but we could get some gusty winds out of some of these storms. By 6:00 a.m., we still have showers and storms ongoing. So, keep that in mind for the morning commute. Notice we get a small break there and then this model brings in more rain as we head into noon on Wednesday.

[00:02:52]Now, this would be the best case scenario. If we do see more showers and storms develop, then that means the atmosphere can't recover and it would be pretty stable when the cold front moves a little closer to us that evening.

[00:03:05]Here's 6:00 on Wednesday evening, showers and thunderstorms moving through. These are the ones that will bring the severe threat with them.

[00:03:12]They'll stay with us through about midnight and then that severe weather threat will start to wind down. Right now though, 31 triple Doppler is quiet and dry and we will remain that way through the morning hours. Just a small chance of a shower or two as we head into the afternoon hours today with temperatures warming into the 70s.

[00:03:29]Breezy conditions though, winds out of the south with wind gusts 20 to 25 mph.

[00:03:34]So, now's a good time to make sure you bring in any loose objects outside. 77 for your high today in Huntsville and Athens, 77 as well out in Muscle Shoals for your afternoon high. That 10-day forecast looks like this. All eyes on tomorrow for that 31 alert day. We will quiet down as we head into the end of the week but rain chances, they're back in the forecast starting on Sunday and remaining with us through the start of next week as well.
