This video examines South Africa's 2026 xenophobia crisis, where legal immigrants like Nigerians face repatriation despite contributing to the economy through tax payments and employment of local workers. President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses the root causes, stating that unemployment and social challenges stem from historical inequalities inherited from the past, not from foreign nationals. The video highlights the contradiction between government statements targeting 'illegal immigrants' and the reality that protesters are targeting all foreigners, regardless of legal status. This demonstrates how xenophobic movements can escalate beyond their stated goals, creating a crisis that affects law-abiding citizens who have contributed to their host country's economy.

🇳🇬Nigerian SHOCKS South Africans, Says 'I PAY TAXES – Don't Touch Me!'
Added:South Africans have been saying a lot about Nigerians during this immigration crisis, but there's one thing that they keep forgetting and they don't tell you about Nigerians. The reason why they are called the giants of Africa. Let's watch this video together.
>> They've stated that you need to leave the country by the 30th of June.
What's your take on that? When are you leaving?
>> I I I'm a law-abiding citizen.
I have all the necessary documents to have run my business, pay tax for 13 years now. Wow. So, I have the legal documents. Because I'm looking for the direction of the government. If the government insists that I should close my shop and go, it's coming from the government direction. I will make I will I will close and go.
>> So, you are ignoring this organization.
>> I'm not ignoring the organization, but at at the end of the day, the organization stated that they are chasing illegal illegal immigrants. I'm not illegal. I'm not illegal. I have run a business I have this company for more than 13 years. Paying tax, paying tax, employing workers, training workers.
How am I Am I doing something illegal at that at that perspective? Is that illegal?
You see that?
So, that's what I'm I have my confidence. I'm ready to go.
What I'm telling them I'm ready [singing] to go close I even today today. What I'm begging you guys is get me a South African who is capable to manage this shop. I have 30 something workers here, South Africans. Who if you close this shop they will be displaced.
I want to make sure that while I'm going they're in good hands. You give me money for my stocks and everything, I will leave the [clears throat] shop for you.
I'm even tired of all this harassment here and there. Everyone is tired. So, I'm not I'm not arguing to go. My only problem is that I have trained workers over the years for more than 13 years.
It's a hard work to train good workers.
They're here, a number of them. If I close and go, what about their fate? I told them several times, "Can you manage the shop?" They said no, "The rent is expensive." Okay, come down for me. I'm not going I'm not leaving you guys behind. As long as I get somebody who is capable to manage this shop as a South African, I will go. I'm ready to go.
If you understand you understand both.
So, what I'm saying is that you as a person taking an assignment Get me a somebody who's coming >> No, no, no, no, no, no.
>> To manage the shop, to run the shop.
>> Let me explain something to you.
>> All right, man.
>> Okay.
What we saying we don't want any foreigner that to run any business. So, if you close now it's none of your business whether the shop is opening or not.
It's none of your business.
>> What about those those South Africans who are working here?
>> We don't care. We don't care. We don't It's not your concern.
It's not his concern.
>> It's not his concern.
>> Who is he?
It's not your concern, brother.
>> So, you are a criminal here. You are not allowed to to run any shop You are a criminal.
>> Yeah, so criminal.
>> So we want all these people to leave here and close now.
We've been telling you.
We've been telling you.
>> Wow. Wow. Wow.
I guess you know what I'm talking about now.
Wow.
That's a Nigerian brother right over there. He's solid.
He's firm. He's not going to be persuaded by any pressure. Because first of all, he knows he's an illegal immigrant. He's not breaking any law there. He's been paying taxes for 13 years and he's employing a great number of South Africans right there.
And when these people who are trying to um evict him out of the country are asked what about the the South Africans that I'm trained that I've trained that I'm um taking care of and you know, providing for work and all that. Guess what they say? We don't care.
>> [music] >> It's none of your business and we don't care.
Can you listen to these people? They don't even take some time and listen to themselves. Because [music] imagine you South African and you're looking at this video, you're watching this and these are the people who think that they are bringing a solution for you? Really?
And that's one thing I want you to realize that most of the people are doing voluntarily they're voluntarily going back home. They their repatriation is a voluntarily one whereby they're not forced they are actually So technically they are forced because they are actually legal immigrants but according to what is happening here it's not about being illegal or legal. It's about all foreigners because the minister stated it very clear in their own words that we do not want any foreigner running business here. So it doesn't matter what business they are. It's not about illegal foreigners they want they do not want any foreigner and it's very clearly stated.
Cuz the matching match movement they've been coming out to say that okay we want illegal foreigners out and that has been the issue.
But seems like these people have taken it in their to the next level where they do not want any foreigners whether you are legal whether illegal and they have somehow managed to do this. How? By putting on that pressure to threaten and scare others. Cuz you've heard the man himself like he wants to leave.
Give him his money, pay his stock, take over the business. He wants to leave because he's tired of this nonsense and very many others that could not speak here. And there's one thing that keeps beating my understanding. Why do these people keep on bringing cameras?
They always want the cameras to be showing this because I think they benefit from this. They benefit from the spreading of these videos and but at the at the other hand on the other hand they forget that what they're doing is actually sensitizing the the world and the continent about who they truly are.
And when I see South Africans my brothers and sisters from South Africa on in the comment section here saying otherwise I can't even understand what's really going on.
So my question to you is what is really going on?
Is it about illegal foreigners or is it about all foreigners?
We want to understand. Please help us understand.
Help us understand, honestly.
Because the the movement the Mach and Mach movement says otherwise. It says illegal foreigners.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says otherwise.
Let's listen to what he says himself.
>> Young people are among the most affected by violent crime and theft.
These are some of the greatest threats to our country's prosperity and to social stability in our country.
Faced with these challenges, there are some who blame the problems of unemployment and crime and poor service delivery on foreign nationals.
Even as we recognize the challenge of illegal immigration, >> Illegal.
>> of having undocumented migrants in our country, >> Okay.
>> which we are taking decisive action to address.
Our problems are in the main our own problems, >> That's right.
>> we have a responsibility to fix ourselves. The causes of these challenges >> What's that?
>> The root of these challenges lie in primarily >> Mhm.
>> the inequality that we have inherited from our past.
>> Oh my God.
>> Yes, many say we should stop blaming our past.
>> Exactly.
>> But it is our past that continues to cast a shadow on the future that our people aspire to.
>> Wow.
Wow. Wow. Hands down, Cyril Ramaphosa.
That's the president of South Africa, the person in charge of taking care of business, the person who has all the statistics, because he mentioned that the rate of unemployment in South Africa is 46% and he's like, "This must stop."
And he mentions all the people who are affected. But, what else does he mention? He says that it is nothing to do with the foreigners.
But, he's talking about the past, the past that they inherited. And somehow you might might sound like he's trying to avoid responsibility because he is in power, he's in charge, and all that kind of stuff. But, it's good to take a look at the statistics. What was the unemployment rate before? Because this has not started when Cyril is in power.
Even before he was in power, the unemployment was there. So, one thing you should understand, whoever is watching this video and from wherever you are watching this video from, one thing you should understand is that he has some sense in what he's saying because the past casts a shadow on the future. The past of South Africa, we know about the apartheid, we know about all the inequalities that have been happening in South Africa. And right now, we see the result of that. Even the things that are happening today, all these Dudula, March and March, whatever it is, how people are being treated, treated back to countries like Ghana, Mozambique, some people who are losing lives, and whatever that is happening to them, this is shaping the future of South Africa.
Now, the question is, is this shaping the future of South Africa for the better or for worse?
I want to hear your thoughts. Give me your your comments here, and I want to read and I understand your thoughts because I appreciate so much people who take time to try to explain the dynamics of this cuz it's all visible from different angles and perspectives cuz there are people from South Africa who see it some other way and there are people also in South Africa who see it another way. And there are people now from the rest of the world where we come and also give our own thoughts and um opinions about this. But as long as Africa is concerned, we have we ought to work together as Africans to find a better solution to this drama and this crisis.
But that's it right now. Thank you so much for tuning in Annex Media. My name is Ivan Mugalya.
