Does Genesis Describe the Rivals Who Fought Over Us?

[00:00:00]In part one, we explored the creation of humans according to the Book of Genesis in the Bible and how Genesis reads a bit like an engineered beginning of humanity. But if you keep reading, the story doesn't stay peaceful. It starts to fracture and other beings also enter the scene. Rules are broken and the entire human project seems to spiral into something far more volatile than a simple origin story. Today, we're stepping into the chapter that raise the biggest questions. Who else was here?

[00:00:33]What did they want? And why does the story end in a reset? Let's talk about it.

The book allows every reader to gain the deepest possible understanding of why the Rider-Waite deck in particular explains what it means to be human. Welcome back, wanderers. It's Ellie again. Human creation is described in Genesis 1 and 2, but now we're going to move to Genesis 3. And this is where our first introduction to a second non-human intelligence is made. I'm talking about the serpent.

[00:01:44]So, in summary, the serpent has knowledge that humans don't have. It contradicts the instructions that are given by the creator. It approaches Eve in the Garden of Eden and offers her an upgrade on what it means to be human.

[00:01:59]"You will be like gods, knowing good and evil."

[00:02:03]This is an upgrade promise. The upgrade is awareness, autonomy, and self-knowledge. The humans take the bait, don't they? And the creators respond with punishment and exile.

[00:02:15]If you read this as a story about conflict between two different powerful entities, then the story sounds a bit like a turf war. One group wants compliant humans. Another group wants awakened humans. And the humans get caught in the crossfire. This is why the alien contact reading resonates with many people. The emotional logic is identical to every other story that we hear about in which the two different sides of intervention versus liberation are competing with one another. The competitive conflicts of ideals appears in science fiction, mythology, and political history. It's always about two powers fighting over who gets to shape species and whether we should be carefully managed or allowed to roam free.

[00:03:07]Now, Genesis 6, further along the line, escalates the situation dramatically.

[00:03:12]Here is a direct quote that pretty much sums it up.

[00:03:16]It goes, "The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful and they took them as wives." Firstly, when you see artist renditions of this idea, the sons of God are always so kind of massive in the imagery that all I could really say about that is ouch, but anyway. But for the purposes of today's show, it's the language that makes it very easy to interpret the event as something originating from another world.

[00:03:43]For example, the surrounding verses talk about how sons of God descend. Well, where are they descending from? They must be descending from up. They take human partners, so that means they're not human, right?

[00:03:58]They produce hybrid offspring, which means it's a mix. And the situation destabilizes.

[00:04:06]And that creator who was part of what we were calling a science project in part one observes all of this and decide that the whole experiment is a failure. And so, they hit the reset button on all of it.

[00:04:21]If you look at the events from a scientific experimental perspective, then it reads just like a failed contact protocol. So, it began as a controlled project, but then boundaries were breached, the project was contaminated, interbreeding and hybridization occurred, the scientists lost control of the project, and so they scrapped it and started again.

[00:04:44]Once again, I'm not trying to prove anything. I'm not trying to debunk anything either. But what I am demonstrating here is that every contamination failure story in modern science is also appearing in Genesis.

[00:04:58]There are going to be people who interpret the Bible to be a divine teaching from God. And that they're not going to agree with these interpretations. And quite frankly, I don't really have an opinion either way.

[00:05:10]I'm just a very curious person. But there are others who do interpret the Bible in this way. And they don't reach for the alien interpretation because they're naive or gullible. They reach for it because Genesis is written in such a way as to make it very readily easy for them to do so. They talk about plural beings who are in control of everything. They talk about descending entities and interventions and hybridization and punishment and resets and territorial disputes. These are not fringe ideas that you really have to squint really hard at to be able to see.

[00:05:46]They are, in fact, the backbone of how Genesis is written.

[00:05:51]Genesis reads like a story where multiple non-human groups are interacting with early humans. The different groups each have their own agenda and the humans are simply caught in the middle of a struggle between powers. And the really, truly weirdest thing is that after all of those power struggles, they just left us here to figure it out for ourselves because I'm not sure that that was a very good idea, you know? Maybe Genesis is theology.

[00:06:19]Maybe it's memory. Maybe it's mythology.

[00:06:22]But if you read it as a contact narrative, it becomes one of the most sophisticated alien stories ever written. And one that still shapes how we interpret things like power, our origins, and the sky. But this is where I want to ask you to help me to look at this closer.

[00:06:42]We've looked at the Bible as God's divine word. We've seen it as an alien creation story. And I know that it also is a psychological map. There's lots and lots of layers to the Bible and it has layers of code. What part of the Bible still has you curious?
