DRAMATIC DISPLAY REMOVING THE SHEET PILES! LLANGOLLEN CANAL BREACH LATEST UPDATE!Added:
Hello everybody and welcome back.
Welcome to part two of today's update here down at the Clangth and Canal Bridge Witch.
As you can see, we're starting off today's video with uh Joe taking his boat out for his maiden voyage.
And I think he's going to pick up Princess Kieran.
Yeah, I think Kira's going to go for a little ride with him, which will be nice. We can get uh Joe going on his little maiden voyage.
Yeah, happen so soon.
So, um, over at the brereech, we're going to be filming the continuation down here as they work away um towards removing the sheet piling from the embankment here and uh ultimately taking away all the top soil.
next to it has just moved a couple of big old uh concrete slabs where the um rings go into to mo up.
You can see there's a couple of rings still attached to those.
One of them may not have a ring anymore.
Hopefully they'll be reused.
Excavator's cleaning those tracks up again.
Still a bit stodgy that mud. It'll dry out today though. It's already already 22 degrees.
Can't believe it's going to be 31 on Monday. I am actually glad it's a bank holiday Monday. So, I do not want to be here at 31Β°. Well, I will be at some point.
You see the guys there uh with the angle grinder again grinding away at the sheep pen.
You can see Kieran just got aboard and uh looks like he's attempting to drive it.
see a little what he does.
It's very slow as you can see.
Got an electric motor on there.
It's nice and quiet.
Yes.
>> The maiden boys.
>> Is that top speed?
>> Kieran had a go.
>> Brilliant.
And they went floating off into the sunset.
>> See you in a few hours.
>> Yeah. Don't Don't sink.
I've just taken off as this excavator driver's gone on a break.
Yeah. What he done is he went to the compound cuz he took a bunch of that old uh sheet pine in the bar. the money cross. Took a bunch of that back.
I'm not sure if they're going on break already. Seems a bit early. It's only4 11 I think.
Looks like they've made a small pile over there with all the other bits and bobs um from the canal embankment.
Yeah, obviously that uh bit sheet ping almost collapsed in it, but they haven't got too much left to do. So, they got the new stuff to get rid of all the way back to the fence there.
Then they can move on to the process of uh taking the top soil off of that area and after that removing the sheet pine.
Don't know if that'll be done today, but uh it'll be good if they make a start on that. Interestingly, the contractors have uh moved the wheelbarrow with the petrol over this side.
Looks like he's moving the fence.
So perhaps they're going to start on this side.
H maybe they're not going to the fence.
Maybe they're just going to that point there or to the new sheet piling perhaps.
But the excavator's fired back up. Yeah, one break time. We just uh I think he needed a bit of a wee.
Must the bit port lose this side for us.
I just have to hold my wheel.
I got a big bladder.
Oh, there they are. I was wondering where they were. They can only go so far though, guys, because they come to a lift bridge at some point. I doubt Joe's got a windless on there.
>> Max altitude reached.
Yeah, that one that left bridge is always left up now. But there is one right the way down there where those two narrow boats are.
Looks like they're attacking the top soil again.
Excavator is moving a bit of the uh silt from the canal bed.
Otherwise, it sink in that I think.
So, he's going to start attacking the other side.
Fence is in the way though, is it really?
Depends how much they intend on moving.
Excavator is working on that side.
We got the angle grinders work on the other side.
Banksman's moving the fence back a bit.
He's getting annoyed down. I'm getting annoyed.
That worker's sweating.
I'm starting to sweat just s workers remove that steak, whatever that is.
Yeah, they started work on this side now.
This one needed replacing anyway. Look at it.
ruined moved all the top he can that side. So he's moving back to the other side.
You can see this banksman here is uh exposing all the cross braces so the guy with angle grind grinder can cut them up.
Pretty sure I hear the uh the other dumper coming as well.
Doesn't take a lot to remove the uh beam that goes across. It's all rusted out anyway.
Hallelujah.
Looks like that haro is about to cave in.
He's trying not to touch it.
Nice little pile we got there. Look.
Well, it looks like you got to change discs again, guys. Always picked up a bit of muck in there.
Yeah, you see that sheep pil.
So maybe they're just going to go to that point there.
Not any further.
Oh, we can see it caving in again.
We can see that they're continuing to remove the cross braces for the sheet piling.
You see why this the the other side is buckled cuz they have the cross braces in.
They're also removing the bar as well still. Yeah, I took about 20 maybe 30 minute break from filming. These guys will go on break soon. It's nearing 12:00 now.
on my last uh Mavic 3 battery though, guys.
Now, oh, you can see Kieran and um Joe's coming back.
My last Mavic 3 batteries will be on the mini.
I used five batteries today. One of them apparently wasn't charged, but I didn't charge it. I forgot.
Not that I forgot to put in the charger.
I just didn't realize it was empty.
So, yeah, I'll be on the mini for a bit later on or next time I fly. I've only got 19% left in this one.
It's been another 20 minutes, half an hour.
Moved on to the mini now cuz of course the batter is all dead. Mavic.
It's been a while since I used her, but uh it's come in useful now.
Looks like they're starting to remove the sheet piling now, guys.
So, look, they destroyed a bit there. So you can start digging out the embankment.
These two are still working on the other side.
That shoot P's detached now.
Soon they drag it all out and cut up into pieces.
Looks like they're loading up the bars from the other side now into the excavator.
It's hot, guys.
Really did come all of a sudden summer.
Bam. One day got the first heat wave wave of the year.
Loading it up into the dumper.
It's half 12 now.
I reckon about 1:00 they'll be going on break.
I'm going to come land now there, guys.
And uh try and find some better internet to upload this video. So, I'll be back hopefully after the break. All right, guys. Well, it's now 200 p.m. I'm the only drone pilot here now. Kieran and Dave have gone. Short Dave will come back down this evening.
I went away for about an hour, went to Audi, uploaded the first video. So, it was taking ages down here to upload.
Let's go find better internet. and uh went to Home Bargains, had some lunch, and uh came back about half 1, but they were still on their break. Now it's 2:00, but we can see that they carry on with their works down here.
Yeah, they're heading back over to the Grinley Brookside, the embankment.
And last we saw, they were taken apart.
the armco sheet piling on the off side of the canal.
So I assume they're going to continue that now.
I won't be staying much longer though, guys.
I'll just use this battery up on the mini and then I'll be off. Looks like the excavator's got the really small bucket on for some reason.
The one that I used to build the trough.
No, I'm joking. Trench. I called it a trough and it was actually a trench. And trough probably because of aqueduct.
They use troughs to go through, carry the water over.
Well, they've removed all the sheep ping from that side. We cut that up and taken it back to the compound.
They're digging behind the newer sheet pining.
Not sure if they're going to remove this yet.
You can see the sheep piling in a big pile over there, the compound.
Yes, that was rather unfortunate missing that did that quicker than I thought they would.
But yeah, the street ping has been removed from that side of the embankment. So Tuesday they can uh carry on with excavating that embankment down to the same level as the rest of the canal bed.
So they have a nice level um plane to build off of.
Of course, they haven't removed the sheet ping from the other side yet.
That's still in place. So we still have a chance of capturing that next time.
These guys, they're only be working for hour and a half longer at the max.
They leave about 4, but of course have half an hour to pack up and stuff.
Looks like he's removed a bit of anco there.
Don't know if that's new or old. Might have been a bit where the new join the old Dumpers aren't in action a minute. And some of them get to go early on Fridays.
Oh, never mind. Dumpers are in action.
Jump over here to pick up that old sheep piling.
ring. I think it's hard to see with this drone cuz usual phone and the screen on my phone is not very big cuz it's a folding phone.
That's what's good about the Pro remote.
It has a really bright screen.
It being so bright and sunny today, it's hard to see that. And I can't zoom in very far.
Yeah. A bit of old sheep pine.
I know all the moves now, guys. I'm learning them.
Going for the medium size.
Bit of canal bed excavation by the looks of it.
A lot of that's the top. So that was removed.
So, all the dumpers there assume they're going to get rid of all this top soil in the canal bed.
Might as well cloud the shade. He's digging up canal bed seal. And uh wait, what did that just happen?
Uh I'm not sure if that just happened.
Yeah, that just happened.
At least I caught it on film then.
The sheep piling literally just fell.
Nothing holding it up, guys.
All the struts were of course um cut.
Okay. Well, this is interesting. I didn't think they'd be doing this part today, but they are putting in the work today, guys, cuz obviously you got a 3-day weekend.
Essentially, what he was doing was digging out the last little bit at the bottom, which was the only thing holding it in place was the silt.
So, by removing that, it fell. And uh looks like he's going to do the same here. It's annoying though because in the morning we had the shade on the other side cuz the sun was coming from where the drone is now and now the sun's coming from the other direction. So bit of a high dynamic range contrast there, guys. You can't see much.
I tried to get a better shot of uh this bit of sheet piling falling.
Yeah, a bit of a high dynamic range there, guys. Sorry about that. Nothing I can do from put it in uh manual mode, I suppose.
Just moving on that canal seal. The only thing left holding it up, of course, cuz they bang their sheet piling into the canal bedroom. But they only do it so deep cuz if you do it too deep, it can actually pierce the the clay. And then that can cause leakage and uh ultimately a breach. I don't think that's what happened here though.
It could have been.
This is why you got to be very careful, especially when digging up silk for the canal bed.
Think it's going to fall.
Starting to lean.
They're starting to come out there. Can you see?
Just needs one good knock now and fall over.
will return to the home point in 10 seconds.
>> Just as the battery runs out.
Would >> you look at that? Oh, it's pulling it out.
Pulling out like a ration of bacon.
So I assume they're going to cut that up now on spot.
You know what, guys? I'll treat you.
Okay, I'll treat you. I'll come back.
I'll put a fresh battery in even though I said I was only going to use this battery.
Push the boat out for you guys.
Oh, looks like the X is cutting up. Got to come back, guys. Refuel firstly. Look at this. an ABC boat winding.
Oh, this is so annoying, guys. I just realized I have no SD card space left.
I've got about 10 seconds.
I just have to save to my phone.
Lucky you can do that.
I don't know how good the quality will be. Probably only be 720p.
He's breaking up the sheet piling now.
It's not hard to break up. Look at that dust just came out. Rust dust.
Just folds it up. Don't need to cut it up.
So, he's compacted that now.
What I needed was a few more seconds.
compacted that and now I load it into dumper.
Just like that, the sheet piling is gone.
Now I load that into the dumper.
That's the sheet piling done.
So going to start attacking that side of the embankment now.
Kind of wish you wouldn't do this.
time I get back, get the SD card out the drone, plug it in to the laptop, delete some files. I don't know.
It'll be over, I reckon.
He's taking the slide off of the into the canal now.
Look at that crumble and fall.
See, he's taking the hard edge off of that that side of the canal, the toe path side.
Now he's doing the same for the other side.
Very satisfying just to see it fall and crumble. Is it Looks like that's as far as they going through that new sheet pile in there.
They haven't touched the other side either.
He's gathering the uh soil now.
They get into a pile and then uh move it to the compound via the dumpers.
Exciting stuff is over. Just like that within seconds.
This is why I couldn't have uh come back and cleared some space from the SD card.
Just glad I got it.
Who knows what they continue with today.
You know, there might be some more exciting stuff, but I'm exhausted guys.
Got to get back and edit this video and then edit the uh setting video for tomorrow.
So, with that, I'm going to end this video here. So, yeah. Going to end this video here now, guys. Um, I'm glad you enjoyed that. I hope you enjoyed that.
Sorry.
Uh, bit of exclusive footage there for you.
Um, yeah, very exciting. And, uh, glad I came back down and didn't just head back to the boat. I'm committed, guys.
Uh, yeah. Thanks for watching. Like, subscribe free and uh, join us tomorrow for the Septton video. See you then.
Bye-bye.
