Training storms occur when thunderstorms follow the same path repeatedly, similar to cars on a train, which creates a significant flooding rainfall potential. This phenomenon happens when storms tend to follow a specific line or boundary, such as the stationary front mentioned in the forecast, and can result in heavy rainfall accumulation in specific areas. Meteorologists monitor these patterns using Doppler radar and weather models to assess the risk of flooding, as the repeated rainfall over the same locations can lead to dangerous water accumulation even when individual storms are not severe.

[music] This is Mississippi live weather at 6.
>> Welcome to Mississippi live weather at 6. I'm chief meteorologist Matt Laubhan.
It's been a somewhat dreary day. We're hoping that things are drier tomorrow.
Lot of eyes on Starkville for the big regional on the way down there. Caleb Edelblute down there this evening. I'll be talking a lot more to him about the what's going on in a couple of minutes.
And there's something interesting that I didn't understand, still don't get. Can you tell me about it?
>> I can do exactly that. There's a lot of talk about broccoli down here in Starkville, and that's due to our softball team making it to the women's college world series. So I have the softball here. I got the trip. I went out and got everything today, so I'm going to give you a full in-depth look on that coming up later on in the broadcast, but got a lot to talk about.
>> And again, economic impact as well as everything there in Starkville coming up as with both of course both the baseball and the softball teams, as well as Ole Miss and their impact of the regional up there in Lincoln. But while we'll look at those forecasts presented by Carl Hogan Toyota here in just a second, spotty heavy rainfall remains our main kind of weather headline this evening. Where we see training and storms following the same path, we will from time to time have some flooding rainfall potential there, and at least some of that chance continues into this upcoming weekend. We're breaking down those threats coming up here in a couple of minutes. But uh looking at the first 12, we're 40% on that rain coverage there at 7, 30% by 10. Of course, as we go into the evening, I think the overall coverage could diminish somewhat.
But I think the rainfall amounts do continue to be hefty where we do get storms kind of follow the same line.
That is a phrase that we've mentioned when we get in the heavy rainfall season like this, training. It's kind of like cars on a train when they follow that path, that's where that flooding rainfall becomes a possibility. It's not everybody, it's not most of us. Uh and it might not be any of us, but there is those chances if storms uh do tend to follow a path like that where that could be a possibility. Looking at Mama Justice Doppler radar, and again looking at the latest scans here back into Alabama, you see some of those kind of following a line up there into North Alabama, but it's this line showing up from around uh Okolona and uh the Buena Vista community stretching back through Caledonia and Fernbank and Southern Lamar County. These storms kind of along a boundary, and see how they kind of tend to follow the same direction there.
When we get into a setup like this, we can from time to time end up seeing pretty hefty rainfall amounts. We're not there yet, but I think the setup tonight could lend itself to those training storms where heavy rainfall remains a possibility. As I've mentioned, you know, a couple times here while we have rainfall and some of it has been fairly heavy. Uh we have not seen a ton of it that's too heavy so far today. Most of our rainfall totals you could see in the green out there, moderate rainfall uh really at most. Those starting to add up, this is our 12-hour and I'm looking over the last uh 24 hours. Of course, going toward last night, what we've had this afternoon has been uh somewhat more hefty than what we had yesterday. So, uh heavy rainfall main story out of all those strongest of those showers and thunderstorms out there at this time. Uh checking out Mama Justice Doppler on the satellite radar composite, the front is part of the reason why, wide-open Gulf is another part of the reason. As that moisture kind of circling into the center of our storm system back on the plains. As I referenced a minute ago, uh flooding rainfall perhaps a possibility, but severe weather not really a concern for us out of this setup. Storms more likely for locations all the way back as you can see toward Idaho. And how often do we say Washington and Oregon? But that's where the storm threat is for today.
Anytime we're saying Washington and Oregon, that is not a weather pattern we have to be concerned about for that.
Now, storm chances do shift onto the plains, and we'll get those SEC softball and baseball forecasts coming up here in a few minutes as you can see for Friday and into Saturday back on the plains, some storm chances there. And those are awfully close to Lincoln. So, again, for concerns back to the west, uh we have a lot to talk about here in a couple of minutes. So, uh looking here at futurecast showing again the rain chances. Most those again near the Arkansas and Louisiana state lines heading through this evening. But one thing that I think I note here is if you look closely, some of the green dots extending back there, you pour out back toward the Columbus area. So, that is kind of along a line there where those could again possibly just kind of put the storms over the same locations.
That's where the heavy rainfall possible. Again, near this front, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 in the morning, um don't be shocked to hear that rainfall. It's not anything I think you need to stay up for overnight. No issues there. Um but don't at all be shocked again if we have uh some of that rainfall around for your morning commute tomorrow. And then probably regenerating near this boundary as we go throughout the day. Again, we'll use our uh Mama Justice Doppler radar to track those uh showers tonight and look more at those threats here in a couple minutes. But over the course of the next 24 hours, rain chances probably peaking tomorrow in the afternoon. We're 70° to start the day, 74° at 9:00 a.m., 80° by noon, 82° by 3:00 p.m. under what should be uh mostly uh cloudy and kind of dreary conditions. Very similar to what we've had recently with heat indices pushing somewhere upper 80s to perhaps lower 90s. In 60 seconds, we're going to get all the information on what is the deal with the broccoli down there in Starkville from our meteorologist Caleb Edelblut as we are looking ahead toward obviously a big baseball weekend here in the state of Mississippi and for all of our area teams as well.
Rainfall chances and heavy rainfall breaking those down here in 60 seconds as well as Mississippi Live Weather continues here from the Room to Room Weather Center right after this.

>> This portion of Mississippi Live Weather is presented by Little's Jewelers.
>> Right now from the Room to Room Weather Center here's Mississippi's Chief Meteorologist Matt Laubhan.
>> I mean no one really wants rainfall on their activities this time of year but obviously with so many people heading down there to Starkville over the next couple of days it's a big deal that nobody wants as well. I mean you all just Caleb Edelblut there uh has been in Oktibbeha County today. And Caleb, you know, a lot of the discussion about what's going on with the regional this weekend, but you've been drilling down on what happened Why Why broccoli is such a big deal for the Bulldog ladies?
>> Yeah, no, it's definitely unique. And this started all the way back in the regional that they played in Eugene. It was after a fan who was a fan of the Oregon Ducks were playing in that regional. The Bulldogs beat them, and they just liked the energy that our team brought. The The fans, the players, they just connected with them, and it just became a thing where he had his broccoli, he waved them around, and called them nature's pom-poms. Well, it stuck, and he followed us all the way towards the Norman super regional, watched us become underdogs, and pretty much beat Oklahoma, stopped them from the ninth consecutive year of reaching uh the Women's College World Series. So, they didn't make it this year. That's due to this broccoli rally that we have going on. So, kind of similar to the rally bananas that the baseball team had in 2018. Uh we just kind of have a broccoli rally going on for the softball team. So, not quite the answer that we wanted to see on their first game of the series for their first ever program uh College World Series earlier this afternoon. I covered that uh kind of around town, kind of expecting, or kind of giving a look into what it means to the community here, and whether that's kind of business owners, or just fans, and just kind of what the vibes were, and they're still at an all-time high.
So, I know, Matt, you were talking about kind of a pulse within Starkville. I'll still say it's very high, uh kind of anxious pulse, and that's due to us kind of losing that first game earlier on this afternoon. But, we're also hosting the regional, so I'll be covering that a lot more tomorrow. But, I definitely have that video that we'll look at later on tonight.
>> your story.
>> Mhm.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> History has been made for the softball program here at Mississippi State University. The Bulldogs punched their ticket to their first Women's College World Series in program history after topping Oklahoma in what some would call underdog fashion. But, to everyone in Starkville, that's just taking care of business as a Bulldog. Businesses are excited at this new accomplishment and fans across the city are looking to commemorate this achievement with new merch all across Starkville.
>> Honestly, it's really exciting to see all like our customers coming in and doing all our online orders. We did a pre-order for our like shirts and stuff like that specifically for the Women's College World Series and there's a ton of just positive energy in the store.
We have customers coming in asking when the shirts are going to arrive on like our floor and like them receiving it in online orders, but I'm super excited to watch them play especially since it's their first time competing in the College World Series.
>> Now, every team needs their rally symbol. For the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team back in 2018, it was the bananas. For this year for our Lady Bulldogs, it's actually broccoli.
>> Well, the broccoli and that's what watching girls do in the broccoli. You know, hold it there. Apparently, some guy came to go to the regional, right?
He had me a guy in regional and he had the broccoli and he fan up and he threw it in the sky. So, I so stupid that they they think that they did the broccoli, but my thing is watching them like hot dogs.
If we give hot dogs then we got hot dogs.
Now, it's not broccoli. They still like hot dogs. Put in a hot dog name, but man, they cheer for him. Whatever it takes to win a ball game, let's go.
Let's go, girls.
>> Well, as you can see here, vibes were at an all-time as the game was underway earlier, but unfortunately, the Bulldogs did not come out on top. Don't worry though, they still have another shot in the elimination round, so make sure to grab your broccoli and cheer on them all weekend long.
Well, there you have it. I hope that gives you a good in-depth look at kind of what underwent today this afternoon, but we also have a lot to cover coming up this week and I know you guys are about to hit those baseball forecast.
Rebels playing and the Bulldogs, so going to be a very exciting here in the northern half of Mississippi.
>> Absolutely. Our meteorologist Caleb there in the Starkville area. Thank you so much. And as we look at those SEC baseball softball forecasts, yeah, just depends you know, Friday there tomorrow there in Oklahoma City as we talked about a minute ago, some rain chances there in and around that that city.
Looks like our graphic needs to go back into play there.
Uh Get that to hop in. And now I think we skipped right past it. So, let's get back over there to softball for a second. And there we go with again the rain chances remain still spotty. Maybe some thunderstorms that could be somewhat stronger there as well. So, that afternoon time period this time of year always a little tricky there back in Oklahoma and really in the Midwest.
That's one of the issues I think for Ole Miss in their game as well. Rain chances there continue about 40% or so through the evening for tomorrow. Um of course Rebel fans hoping to get a win there in the Lincoln regional and Mississippi State and Louisville. Um obviously we're going to have some showers popping up around here. We'll look a lot more at that here in just a moment. One of the things I want to hit here for a moment first is rainfall totals. We're going to look at this couple different ways. This is from our strike model tends to be a little bit more aggressive. Caleb is going to look in particular tomorrow at you mean Gabe will look at both our HRRR and our strike models back-to-back on some of the rainfall coverage there. But what you'll notice again for fairly widespread amounts half inch or so, some spots 2 inches of rainfall over the next few days in a couple pockets 5 or more inches not an impossibility if we get those storms to kind of train where they tend to follow the same paths.
At this point here again, don't get attached to exact locations there. But Gabe, it definitely looks like the pattern remains pretty active over the next few days and into this upcoming weekend as well, right?
>> Exactly. But a light at the end of the tunnel, I don't want to overlook that.
Beyond this weekend stretch, I think we are looking at some drier air. Not just dry conditions, but drier feeling air outside that we get to enjoy here in North Mississippi. But this weekend, like I mentioned, seeing those rain chances stick around. We're 84 Saturday, 85 by Sunday. And if you're dodging those rain chances, well, it's going to be a pretty warm and muggy pattern once again. That's perfect for your pool day forecast. As we get out there on our Friday, 70° around 8:00 a.m., 80 towards noon, and 82 by the afternoon.
Temperatures have been similar all week long, but rain chances by the afternoon, that continues to be a theme here in North Mississippi. And that'll carry over into our Friday as well. And for all the parents out there, we are 64 days and counting until August 1st. And of course, that's whenever we start to get more into those school months. So, looking at Futurecast tonight, our Thursday staying with those scattered showers across this frontal boundary that's overhead. That's going to be that lifting mechanism that not only provides a few showers, but I think a few rumbles of thunder on the table. Seen that so far this evening. I think that carries over well after sunset here in North Mississippi. But as we get into those overnight hours, again, where that development happens, Futurecast showing it primarily Northwest Mississippi. So, Senatobia, West Helena, Clarksdale, even out there towards Cleveland getting a few as well. But this whole boundary is what we're watching that's continuing to allow additional chances overnight. And even those chances lifting more towards Highway 72 along the Tennessee state line. So, we're starting out our Friday with a few pop-up showers in some spots, but overall coverage not overbearing, at least not just yet. But still those temperatures going to be mild to start the day out. We're 68 towards Bruce and New Albany, 70 Starkville and Columbus, 68 Booneville and Red Bay, and 70 Greenwood and Cleveland. Like I mentioned throughout your Friday, this is the reason why chances are higher.
Stationary front overhead, that's going to allow development throughout the day here in North Mississippi. And we'll see that on our Futurecast in much more detail. So, right here, right along I-55 by lunchtime, seeing not only some showers develop, but where these reds happen, I think that is one in indicative of heavy rainfall, but it also indicates perhaps a few rumbles of thunder developing once again, especially mixing in that daytime heating of the afternoon. That coverage expanding further into North Mississippi by the mid-afternoon hours and then into the evening as well, seeing those rain chances stick around.
If you're along the Alabama-Mississippi state line, if this holds true, not expecting a ton of action for you, but being that it is a very sporadic system that's going to have additional development throughout the day. I think if you're right along this stationary front, which here in North Mississippi we are, that you basically need to have that umbrella ready as we're going to be dodging these rain chances throughout the day. As we of course look at our strike model, this is looking at our Friday and it's a much different picture.
The reason why I'm not necessarily sold on the strike model compared to the HRRR model is because we have that frontal boundary overhead. I think this is going to allow for some of those showers to happen. I do think that mid-morning and beyond, especially once you get those temperatures climb, that's that's where those chances start to climb once again.
But as you can see, strike not as intense on those rain chances, but look a little bit to our neighbors out east, they're higher on those rain chances. Again, right along that stationary front, but that's where our future cast on our strike model is lining up with those rain chances. But still, I think North Mississippi is in that corridor where we're going to be getting that rainfall developing and even by the afternoon, we're still getting that swath of rainfall close to I-55 by lunchtime. So if you're Greenwood, Grenada, Water Valley, even up there towards Senatobia and Holly Springs, we're watching for you guys to maybe get some of those showers and storms. But all across North Mississippi, those rain chances gradually increasing into the afternoon.
And I think that's the consistency when we're talking strike and HRRR model is the fact that during the afternoon, that's where coverage peaks. That's where that coverage intensifies and that's why we're talking 40 to 50% on our Friday in that coverage as those bands of rainfall continue to work their way on through. And strike showing that as well as our HRRR models, that's why confidence is also a little bit higher for our Friday as well. We're 84 Amory, Columbus and Macon, 82 Senatobia and Holly Springs, 84 Greenwood and Grenada, 85 showing up in Belzoni. So, still a pretty toasty forecast all things considered. When you mix in that Mississippi mugginess, makes it feel that much more uh sticky outside. We're 89 Belzoni. We're seeing 87 there towards Houston. But, what I also want to show you guys is that flash flood threat. Matt was mentioning some of the heavy downpours happening tomorrow and the potential training setup that we have. So, the Weather Prediction Center putting out this level one threat for flash flooding and we've seen that uh evident tonight in some spots of Mississippi and Alabama. And I think for North Mississippi tomorrow, we're watching for you as well in regards to potentially some of those flash flooding uh uh that potential flash flooding. So, Friday night those chances start to clear on out a good bit. We're going to be seeing some drier conditions overall.
Not saying a rumble isn't possible. Not saying a pop-up shower isn't possible.
But, overall coverage you can see not nearly as widespread. But, getting into our Saturday, you can see those chances in Arkansas eventually going to work its way into North Mississippi. And that's why we do have those chances there.
We'll assess that here in just a moment.
Let's look at the low temperatures.
We're 67 Tupelo, Booneville, Oxford, New Albany, 70 Clarksdale, Cleveland, and Belzoni, and 68 Starkville and Louisville. As we go about our Saturday morning, these rain chances primarily remaining west of I-55, at least the heavier sections of that rainfall. But, as we get more towards the afternoon, once again with the stationary front overhead, I think we do get additional development. And our strike model a little bit more uh more of an advocate for those rain chances. As you see the difference there going from a few pop-up showers to widespread chances. So, with that being said, I don't think it's impossible to get this much uh this much activity on our Saturday. But, that stationary front begins to push its way towards the south. Why that matters is because all of that moisture that's attached to this frontal boundary is going to be pushed a little bit south as well. So, I think Central Mississippi and further south are areas that we're watching for for the heavier downpours.
Here in North Mississippi, I think the front will be just outside of our coverage area that a large part of these rain chances stay uh stay mostly clear of us. Still seeing some of that scattered development, but when we're talking widespread chances, I think Saturday we're going to stay more more away from that rather than going to be in the middle of it like strike is trying to show there. We're 83 Oxford and New Albany, 85 Houston, 87 showing up in the Golden Triangle, and 88 Belzoni and Greenville. So, also temperatures indicating that as well.
Whenever you get drier air at least a drier sky, then you also allow those temperatures to climb. So, if you look at our high temperatures a little bit higher than or actually at average if not a little bit above average. And that's warmer than where we have been over the last several days. So, I think our temperature map also indicating a bit of a drier forecast compared to what we'll have on our Friday. Heat indices trying to show those low to mid 90s as well. And so, it is still going to be a muggy pattern. We do still have that moisture in the air. Just hopefully stays away from the rainfall and we're able to enjoy some of those Saturday plans. Saturday night sees those rain chances stick around, but overall dissipating out overnight. Our strike model kind of clearing those on up. A sprinkle or light shower are possible, but really not going to see intense coverage. And our Sunday morning starting out mostly dry as well with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. As we continue throughout our Sunday morning, additional development due to us being in that warm sector at least close enough to that warm sector.
But again, something I'm seeing here is it might be placing those rain chances a little bit too far towards the north of this boundary. I think it's going to be pushed a little bit more towards the south right along that warm sector further towards the south and west. So, into our Sunday afternoon, strike trying to show those widespread chances. I would bump it back a few counties to kind of line up with that warm sector to where we're going to get that development to happen. And that's why we are keeping those chances still around 30% coverage even by our Sunday. So, that can change. It's that just that time of year where the pattern is going to have those afternoon pop-up showers.
So, we'll continue to assess that and let you guys know where the latest timing is. But as we move closer, we'll have more model data that we're able to use and we'll keep you guys updated on that latest time frame and those latest impacts. But also high temperatures showing the warmer temperatures, 89 Belzona and Greenville, 87 Bruce and Grenada, 85 for Tupelo so nearing that average for this time of year, but heat indices bumping it well over that 90° threshold in some spots. So, drink plenty of water. We're in that time of year where you need to stay hydrated and stay prepared with that heat right around the corner. At least even with getting that a little bit by the weekend. So, we're keeping it around 30% there Saturday and Sunday. We'll see what the latest model outputs for our Friday, how those chances line up, but definitely something we're watching into the weekend for some of those additional chances. Monday more isolated in development and into next week, I told you light at the end of the tunnel.
That's what we get to enjoy heading into parts of next week. Not only because it's dry, but it should feel a little bit dry as well. We've been talking about it our misery meter bumping down those dew points and making it feel a little bit more bearable outside.
Excited for that heading into parts of next week, but we are excited for the weekend ahead. That's where we're going to hear from our Will Collyer previewing our latest regional match-ups for our North Mississippi teams and we're also going to be talking about those forecasts for our local teams as well throughout the entirety of our weekend.
That as Mississippi Live Weather at 6:00 continues right after the break.

>> Okay, maybe more than weather here on Mississippi Live. We do sports and with us is our Will Colmeyre. You know, we we got kind of the economic sort of angle, what's going on around town Starkville at angle there from just a moment ago from our Caleb Ebleblu, but a breakdown on what to expect with these regional games tomorrow from our sports expert Will Colmeyre here.
>> Welcome to Dudy Noble Field here in Starkville. You see some empty seats now. We're right outside the left field lounge. Will it be anything but empty starting tomorrow afternoon and of course all weekend long. The left field lounge, all of that of course the condos over there over the left field wall. It will be packed to the rafters and why not? Mississippi State back at home for a regional. Lots of great memories back in the day covering Mississippi State at these regionals here in Starkville and hopefully there'll be some more magical moments this weekend for Mississippi State. They get everything started against Lipscomb.
They'll take on Lipscomb at 1:00 tomorrow and that'll be the one versus four seed.
The two and three seed Louisiana, the Ragin Cajuns out of the Sun Belt one of five teams from the Sun Belt including Southern Miss. We'll talk about the Golden Eagles in just a moment representing the Sun Belt conference in this year's NCAA baseball tournament.
Louisiana will be taking on Cincinnati.
That'll start at 6:00. If you're not one of the fortunate few that will be here in Starkville to watch this regional, those games tomorrow will be seen on ESPN Plus. But Mississippi State just one of the big three that will be taking part in NCAA regional action tomorrow.
Ole Miss will be in Lincoln, Nebraska in the Nebraska regional out there. They'll take on Arizona State tomorrow night at 8:00. That'll be on ESPN2.
That'll be the two versus three. The one versus four will be Nebraska taking on the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State.
That'll be at 3:00. That'll be the first game in that Lincoln regional. As I mentioned, Southern Miss Hattiesburg will have host a regional again this year. Southern Miss coach and company, all they do is win, right? Another 40-plus win season for Southern Miss.
The Golden Eagles are the number nine seed overall. They just missed being one of the national seeds, which would be one of the top eight. And if that would have happened, they could have if they would have taken care of business this weekend, they could have hosted next week's action, but they'll be on the road next week if they can win this weekend. And it all starts against Little Rock, the Trojans out of Little Rock. They'll be taking on Southern Miss. That'll be starting at 1:00.
That'll be on ESPN Plus as well. And then also the other two teams in that regional will square off. Jacksonville State, the Gamecocks taking on the Cavaliers of Virginia. That'll start at 6:00. Of course, all of Mississippi's big three, they're all vying. They're hoping in a couple weeks they'll be in the World Series, which will start on June the 12th. But, that's the story here right outside the left field lounge here in Starkville. We'll send it back to you guys in the studio and wraps up all of our week-long previews here at Mississippi State. Bulldogs getting ready to host another baseball regional. We'll send it back to the studios now.
>> Appreciate that, Will. And again, one of the factors is you saw like the rain there in around the Starkville area earlier on with with Will on that shot when he recorded that earlier. We're hoping that we don't have rainfall here.
Storm Finder, one of our tools that we use to track that again using our exclusive strike model, which as Gabe talked about a minute ago is a little more aggressive than most sometimes.
Notice how as we go toward around midday tomorrow again, you know, first pitch on that one I believe right around 1:00 and we do show some rainfall chances there just to the west of Starkville trying to move in as we go through. Now, this particular projection does not show the showers overhead, but here's the deal.
This is I mean little bubbles bubbling up. I have low confidence on the exact precision. I think the bigger takeaway is that some of the better chances could arrive maybe a little bit later and so if this were say a 3:00 or 5:00, you know, first pitch, uh things might be a little bit a little bit more aggressive. As it said, you probably need your rain gear just in case. Uh hopefully that's not the way it boils down, but Stormfinder showing we're not talking about severe weather.
It would be maybe a rain delay, maybe a lightning delay and then done. So, uh knock on wood or whatever uh your preferred uh not jinx method is. Now, let's slide up here and kind of look on the wider shot again for that forecast uh up toward Lincoln, Nebraska. Looking at the rainfalls, you could see some chances there going through the day in and around. Uh we show that coverage at least on Stormfinder more limited by say 7:00 but you see this pretty good line of storms coming in from the southwest. On Stormfinder, we see something that organized uh that tells us there's probably a pretty good signal we're going to have some storms and you're going to be right there on the edge of some stronger storm potential for uh tomorrow. While this shows it coming in late into the night, uh just note that it's not impossible that we could be talking about some at least some spotty rain chances with that one as well. So, again, revisiting our SEC baseball forecast presented by Carl Hogan Toyota, we're going to have some rainfall around I think for uh the games on Saturday, possibly on Sunday as well. Uh but tomorrow again the first game there in the regional 1:00 p.m. against Ole Miss the hope is we keep it dry but there will probably be some isolated showers and storms and then again rain chances more likely Friday and Saturday up there in Lincoln, Nebraska as the Rebels at least for that first game they're taking on Arizona State.
I'll go ahead and bring in our meteorologist Gabe Manner here behind the scenes back in our Tupelo studios and Gabe you know as as we're kind of talking through this obviously as a as a Bulldog fan I know you're excited for how that'll play out here.
What are your thoughts? You think you know again we got heard from Will a second ago there. You know I know you come from an Ole Miss household by that I mean you know obviously a wife runs the household. I mean that's just the case with mine. I come from Texas Tech household.
Being a Kansas fan. But anyway point of the story being what is the feeling with the Ole Miss fans? They feel like they feel like they got this?
>> You know I'll be honest I think it's just so up in the air. One of the things cuz Annelise loves Ole Miss everything and she wasn't high going into this season. Like it was kind of like a if we win cool if we don't like make sense.
But since they've made it all the way to a regional not only making it to a regional but being a two seed in pretty dominant fashion in SEC play you know it's it at least has some arguments that you're able to beat Nebraska beat a big 10 opponent and then eventually work your way into super regional play and that would be against the one seed UCLA Bruins. So it would be I'm sorry I'm about to call the Rebel fans dogs but it's an underdog mentality going into this but they could do very similar to similarly to what the Mississippi State softball team has done and just kind of make some noise in postseason play and who knows what happens. So we'll see. I think it's just kind of like a if it happens cool if it doesn't it's all good.
>> Yeah I guess that that that that's that's I guess the positive way to look at there. Of course you can join the conversation with us on Facebook on X, YouTube as well. Again, that's where the chat comes in behind the scenes here.
But, download our apps, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and those two QR codes get us when we're talking about all of the different mobile applications for iOS and Android.
Thank everyone so much for supporting us here on Mississippi Live and what we're trying to do here with a local broadcast. Our next broadcast come up here at 9:00 and 10:00 here in the Room to Room Weather Center weather things a meteorologist Gabe Maurer will be looking at again some of those rainfall totals and tracking that training rainfall potentials. As we talked about earlier on, we have some of those areas where the rain kind of following a similar path. That's the setup where it's possible you could have some flooding rainfall there. May not necessarily a high likelihood of that, but not an impossibility that at least in some isolated locations that could be the case. And one thing I want to touch on before we leave this broadcast here.
It's all kind of bring it back in here to the um kind of mobile Room to Room Weather Center a moment here.
The folks at the Weather Prediction Center put out these discussions for precipitation. You're mentioning the potential for flash flooding, possibly Arkansas, Missouri in particular where they're kind of focused. That's where the rainfall potential has been the greatest today.
That's where again there are some flash flood warnings still ongoing for locations out that direction. Have been had one for Little Rock area area a little earlier on. Still have one back in the Louisiana until 6:45 and some river flood warnings as well as an aerial flood watch. So, a number of things up there that that will bear some watching over the next few days for rainfall for us. I think our chances the most significant chances probably a little bit to the east. We will see you coming up tonight at 9:00 and 10:00.
Thank you so much for supporting us here on Mississippi Live as I kind of pop that chat up behind the scenes here.
Appreciate everybody for watching. Hey, happy Thursday evening. Friday's right around the corner. Maybe we'll get lucky enough to get a little drier weather for some spots this weekend. I think we will hopefully for some of those outdoor activities. We'll see you coming up tonight at 10:00 here on Mississippi Live.
>> March 24th, 2023 [music] was a normal Friday. You know, we knew the weather was not good, but we we needed [music] to take shelter and we didn't have shelter. My husband and almost 2-year-old daughter, Ethan and Riley, they did lose their lives in the storm. [music] We're still recovering from it. We'll always be recovering from it. Matt Lopon cares about the community.
>> [music] >> He's not just there to collect a paycheck. I feel like Matt Lopon has proven [music] himself trustworthy.
