This video analyzes how adoption processes can be manipulated for power control, using the Sister Wives case where Robin and Cody allegedly forced Preston to adopt their children by offering to forgive his debts and making it difficult for him to maintain relationships with his kids, demonstrating how legal adoption can be weaponized to eliminate biological family connections and maintain control over children's lives.

The Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Adoption: Sister Wives - Wrestling With Adoption (s9e2)Added:
Hello and welcome to Reality TV Cringe, the world famous podcast. I am one of your hosts, Dileia, the younger one.
Here with my real tight homegirl and my mother-in-law, Beatric. That's me.
You look great for your age. You really do, Mom.
>> Oh my.
We are here to talk sister W's hoodie.
>> Yes, >> we are currently in our rewind era. We are going through the records and we are in season 9 >> which is where [ __ ] starts popping.
>> That's right. So last week we talked about Mary and Cody's legal divorce and then of course Robin snatched him right up and they eloped. Mhm.
>> We've got some tension between Mary and Janelle. There's a lot of things percolating.
>> Yeah.
>> And none of them really continued on into this episode.
>> No, they didn't.
>> But before we get into our recap, we do want to give you a disclaimer. It's very serious. Please lean forward >> and pay attention. You had better hide your wife and don't let me get you with those kids.
>> This is an irreverent podcast. We are silly. We are stupid. We are for the most part uncensored when we are especially naughty >> and offensive.
>> We do censor and that's only for the patrons, but for the most part we're just here to have fun. That's what raccoons want to do.
>> Yeah, >> they just want to have fun.
>> But if you're sensitive, >> get out of here, sweet baby.
>> Bye.
>> You might want to find yourself another dumpster.
>> Smell you later.
>> But if you're ready for the 1,000th time to hear about Cody's illustrious wrestling career, then welcome to this dumpster. And if you think that we should join a wrestling tournament, join us on Patreon. Sorry, join us on Instagram, reality TV cringe. And join us on Patreon. patreon.com/reality TV cringe. If you join us in the VIP dumpster, maybe you could crowdsource for our state tournament >> for my facelift.
>> For your facelift.
>> For my face.
>> Your mommy makeover.
>> Thank you. That's what I need. But yes, absolutely. And if you're watching on YouTube, please do not forget to like and comment and share and subscribe and also hype your girls up. Please, >> please, if you could just hype your girls free. Every little thing you do helps us in the algorithm. We got over 6,000.
>> I know. We're at 6.02.
>> I feel fancy.
>> I feel like you said we're world famous.
>> So, everything you do helps. Thank you in >> Thanks. Now, before we get into this episode, Beatric, I do want to ask you whether you had any thoughts, any feelings, or any takeaways.
>> Well, first of all, this episode was kind of boring >> and it starts getting better in this season. I do remember because we've got Galveastston and we've got the catfish and stuff, so like it starts popping off, but this episode was boring. My other takeaway is that I think it's interesting that they edited it in a way where we're talking about the adoption of Robin's kids, but then we're also talking about how Cody and his relationships with his kids is starting to suffer and how there's a a glowing or glaring disparity between his relationships with his daughters versus his sons. And it's kind of low-key shitty and misogynistic cuz he's like, "I only get along with the boys cuz they like boy stuff. They like to wrestle.
They like to hunt. They're real men like me."
>> Like I can't talk about the girls with girl stuff cuz you know I'm not a girl.
>> They got vaginas. I don't get it. So, it's just like it's just interesting to me that they chose to edit it in this way where we're like talking about him making this effort with Robin's kids.
They're not biologically his, but then he's like not having a good relationship with the rest of his children. It's It's pretty shitty. It is shitty. I agree.
So, my takeaway, I'm just going to start right out the gate and tell you it's inappropriate.
It's not cool. But, I mean, I think we're all thinking it.
>> Yeah. And so I want to be that person who represent is the mouthpiece of the dumpster. And I'm just going to say, and I mean it in the most complimentary way, that Hunter's booty is popping up.
>> Did you see him in those onesies, >> girl?
>> His booty just out there booty popping out.
>> I'm sure guys everywhere were like, >> I mean, I think he's 18 here. He's about to graduate high school and go off to college. I'm not trying to be inapprop pro, but like you put him in these I'm sorry. You put him in these skimpy little outfits and it's just showing everything and I'm just like damn.
>> Wow.
>> Well, and it's very telling that Cody says wrestling is the best sport in the whole world. And I'm like, why? Because of the leotards. Is that why?
>> Well, because of the balls right in your face. There's balls right right in your face.
>> Smell the essence of a man.
>> It was um very interesting sort of the outfits, the regalia. And that's all I'm going to say about that. I just I just noticed it. And am I bad? No, >> you could tell me I'm bad. I have I'm old. My mind's going.
>> Wait until I'm like legit 80 >> and I'm You take me to the Starbucks and I'm just talking straight to people.
>> You got a nice ass young man.
>> You are going to be that. You got a big package.
>> I'm totally going to be flirting with all the young guys.
>> Oh god, I can't wait. Nobody's going to do nothing. No.
>> Well, in this day and age, they might kill me. They might murk me on the spot.
They might >> for being inappropriate for sexually harassing the young boys to the Starbucks. Yeah, >> they might dispatch me from this planet.
Okay, without further ado, >> God, >> let's get into our recap of Sister Wives season 9, episode 2, >> wrestling with adoption.
>> Okay, this episode was so boring.
>> It really was.
>> I mean, like, we're just going to brief.
>> What can we even talk about?
>> There really wasn't much here. It was a lot of filler, honestly, and it was a lot of like the same conversation over and over again. So, we start off the episode at Robin's house, of course, because we have to tell Leon and Robin's kids about Mary's divorce. And Cody ends up asking Robin's kids in a very performative way for the camera, like, "Will you let me adopt you? Can I be your daddy?" And of course, Aurora runs up to him and jumps in his arms. And I'm just like >> pointing out that I feel like they have kind of a weird >> relationship. I don't want to say there's not inappropriate things going on.
>> I would hope not to God. I would hope that there's not anything inappropriate going on, but I don't know. It's just kind of like >> I do see people on Reddit speculating and commenting and being stupid about that.
>> But I just think that in the absence of her biod's presence, she's really attached to Cody and you can't blame her. And Robin really pushed for that as well.
>> I guess I just I don't know. Like I was a kid when my parents divorced. I was like 13, 14, and I wasn't running into my stepdad's arms like that. You know what I mean?
>> Yeah.
>> I don't But whatever. Who am I? I'm just a person. And so then it's the next day or whatever. We're still at Robin's house and we're talking about like Solomon needing a haircut and Robin's like, "I'm so worried about talking about it with Cody because he's like so attached to Solomon's hair or whatever."
But then Cody comes in and he's like, "We should get Solomon a haircut." And she's like, "Oh my god." I was like, "We are so connected.
>> We're so connected. We're twin flames."
>> And five minutes later, there's a hair stylist. So this was all booked in advance. They had already talked about it and it was planned.
>> And then after that, Cody's talks to Robin on camera also, which I just think is inappropriate. He's like, "Maybe we should have another baby."
>> E, >> maybe after his haircut, it's time for us to have a baby. And Robin like beams and gets immediately wet and she's like, "Oh my god, Cody, >> I think she's already pregnant."
>> You think so?
>> Furthermore, can we just take a little sidebar here because at the end of last season or whatever season had the recommmitment ceremony?
>> Yeah.
>> Didn't Robin go running from the celebration because there was some kind of a secret? Do you remember this?
>> I do vaguely. And it felt like they were gonna announce the pregnancy with Ariela, like something was going on, but they never resolved it. They went straight to a tell- all >> and then into a new season. And I'm like, well, what was that all about? She literally ran away. Yeah, but >> this editing and production is sloppy.
>> Well, it just goes to show that they've been doing this like [ __ ] with like, oh, we're going to prefilm all of this content and then we'll release it like whenever the hell we want to. So, like we're probably watching stuff from Yeah.
last season in season 9.
>> Well, even with Solomon's hair, they promptly get it cut. He looks super turbo cute.
>> Yeah, he's a little peanut.
>> But then in like the next scene, it's long again.
>> Yeah, exactly.
>> Did you notice that? I'm like, "Okay, let's get it together."
>> And then Robin wants to pretend like she's concerned about having a baby with Cody because, you know, if I have a baby with him right now, he's going to be 67.
He's going to be 67 when the baby's 18.
He's going to be a senior citizen. You know, I have to think about that. But then she doesn't end up thinking about it. She just ends up having a baby with him anyway.
>> Already pregnant. She's >> already pregnant because of course she is.
>> She's on the couch and she's kind of wearing this billowing top and she's kind of smooshed by Mary. She's hiding her belly >> 100%. And then we head over to Hunter's wrestling tournament because he's a state champion. He's a returning state champion.
>> I mean, actually though, he's fit.
>> He's popping out. Yeah, he's fitting fresh.
>> I just I look at it and I covet. I'm so jealous because I got no booty.
>> I got a concave booty.
>> Do you think a big booty on a man is attractive?
>> If it's like a football player and he's wearing those like >> muscular >> tights and Yeah. Because it indicates thrusting potential.
>> He can get it in there and you know he can move it around and make you feel real good.
>> I mean allegedly.
>> So that's what a butt indicates. And so yeah, but like I don't need a big old juicy booty like you do.
>> I know you love a big juicy booty.
>> Well, on a girl. Yeah.
>> But back to me.
>> Yeah.
>> I ain't got that. I ain't got any of that where it's supposed to go like that.
>> It's cocky.
>> It goes like that.
>> Which is really funny cuz her daughter's the opposite.
>> My daughter has a great ass. My mom had a great ass.
>> Really?
>> Yes. My mom had a great ass. My dad had a flat [ __ ] ass. My brother has a flat [ __ ] ass.
>> It's them cursed jeans.
>> Flat [ __ ] ass. I got to do squats or something. What do the kids do?
>> Yeah, you got to do squats and hip thrusts. Got to grow them glutes.
>> Okay, I could do that.
>> Oh my god, >> Jeremy.
>> E.
Anyway, so we're getting ready to head to Hunter State Tournament. It's going to be in Winnamaka, Nevada, aka >> the middle of nowhere.
And we have this like stupid segment with the family where like Mary and Christine are making fun of wrestling as they should because it's kind of a funny sport. But Cody's like butt hurt about it because he thinks it's the greatest sport in the world because it's the only time in his life where he gets to feel the feel the closeness of another man.
And so while they're getting ready to go to the tournament, we have like a little spat where Gwendalyn, I guess, said she wanted to go and then she decided that she didn't want to go because she wants to hang out with Aurora with Robin because of course Robin conveniently gets to stay behind while Mary and Janelle and Christine all have to go to the tournament with a lot of their kids.
So Gwendalyn's going to stay behind.
Cody gets butt hurt about it. Then they're in Winnamaka.
Hunter's returning state champ. And that's great. I just don't care. Like I just don't want to watch it on TV. You know what I mean? Like >> Yeah. There was a lot of time dedicated to his various wrestling matches and I'm like, >> "What are we doing here?"
>> And then like we have this awkward segment with the adults on the couch when they're talking about wrestling and how great it is. And I think Cody makes some kind of inappropriate comment a little bit. He was like, "Well, it's a deep it's a very deep grind getting, you know, aggressive and intimate with a man." And like all the wives are laughing at him for it and like, "Why are you saying deep grind? You're implying sex, which is so scandalous for these Mormons to even really be talking about."
>> So, I know he went to university or he said he did because he had some sort of a salacious encounter in university.
Yeah.
>> Was he wrestling in university?
>> I I would assume so.
>> Oh, interesting.
>> I would assume so.
>> Interesting. Well, I'm just like wondering is that why people thought you were flamboyantly gay in high school because you were a wrestler and like maybe you were like fondling some of the guys in the locker room >> allegedly. And we're just joking.
>> We are but heavily implying. And then we switch gears entirely and then we like go to talk to some of the older kids on the couch, specifically like Aspen and Maddie and I think Logan and Hunter and stuff are there. But like Aspen's the one that brings it up how Cody is closer with all of the boys in the family and he's not as close with the girls. And Maddie in particular is like, I used to be really buttth hurt by it because growing up Hunter was basically woripped because he was this pro wrestler and he was this athlete and blah blah blah blah. And like we just got kind of pushed to the side. And then we hear from like Cody at the same time saying, you know, yeah, like I could work on my relationships with my kids, specifically my daughters, but like also I just like relate to the boys because, you know, I'm a man, >> right? But didn't we already talk about this with the archaeologists?
>> Yeah.
>> I just don't understand why we have to have this same conversation again. We've already established that Cody lacks a connection with his girls for whatever reason. He already said last season he wants to do something about that. And so now here we are in season died and we're still talking about it. And I don't think he's doing anything about it though.
>> He's not at all. And I don't know why we're addressing it. Maybe it's because they think or they're assuming that the viewers can pick up on the fact that Cody is not having a good relationship with his kids and so they're trying to like do damage control or like they're trying to be like no no no like we're >> because the archaeologists did >> and maybe that >> bring it up and so maybe they are concerned about it.
>> Yeah. But then you have the wives kind of defending Cody for it. Like I think Christine's the one that says, you know, Cody feels a lot of pressure to have good relationships with all of his kids.
And you know, like I'm definitely one of the wives that pressures him a lot to have a good relationship with my daughters. And then Janelle defends him even further and says, you know, well, my dad was monogamous and Cody's so much more present than my dad ever was. So like, I think he's doing great. It's super interesting watching these earlier seasons and seeing just how much Janelle capes for Cody.
>> She does a lot, which you want your partner to do that, >> but there's a difference between what Janelle divulges and says versus what Christine offers and even what Mary offers.
>> Like Janelle's very tight lipped and she's always writing really hard for him.
>> Yeah. Always. And it's actually kind of annoying to me. Like the more that I see it, the more I'm like, "Oh, okay. I don't really like you, Janelle."
>> Well, maybe she was getting that extra money as we have discussed previously.
>> Probably.
>> Yep.
>> He's probably giving her that sweet, sweet love in so that way she can continue to defend him because he needs people in his court because at this point, you know, Mary's sucking on bananas and Christine's mad at him all the time and then they go to Galveastston. So, it's like, >> you know, he needs Janelle in his corner. And so then after the tournament, you know, Hunter wins.
That's great. Yay. Amazing. Awesome.
They go back home. They're back at Robin's house. They're building a swing set for her backyard, I guess. And I'm just like, there's a lot of scenes here where we're at Robin's house. So, that's very curious.
>> Well, I was looking at the placement of the elaborate swing set for all those kids, and I was wondering if it was kind of between houses.
>> I'm not sure.
>> It was predominantly >> at Robins. near Robins. And I'm like, this is a glaring thing to me because we never really see what's going on in Mary's backyard or Christine's or Janelle's. It's always Robins that's getting tricked out.
>> Well, cuz I think she's the only one that has the finished backyard at this point because I think, didn't Christine talk about it how like in Vegas like it was always just gravel back there?
>> Yes. Like it was a moonscape.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> So, I think at this point it probably is just Robin's house. But it was weird.
This this segment was about the swing set, and this is where we talk more about Cody's shitty relationships with his kids. But Robin at one point makes a comment about how she was questioning whether plural marriage would be good for their kids, specifically when she was courting Cody. But now that she's in this arrangement, she sees that it is good for the kids. And I'm like, why make that comment?
>> Yeah, it was kind of a nonsequittor. And I I was wondering if she was making it in response to like Cody talking about his relationships with his kids. Like she didn't want people to think that it was because of plural marriage because it kind of brought up that conversation of like well right >> you know some people think that in plural marriage like the dads can't have good relationships with all their kids.
And it's not because of plural marriage it's because it's a lot of pressure over the man because it's so much for him.
You know he's got a lot on his plate, right? So, I was wondering if that was why she made that comment, but it was just weird.
>> Y >> and then Christine talks about how she's gotten onto Cody a lot for not being involved with the kids. She doesn't want Cody to have regrets like her dad did, which is really telling.
>> I would like to hear more about that. I don't think she actually wrote about that in her book.
>> I don't think so either.
>> She doesn't really talk about her dad too much. She talks about her mom quite a bit more, but I would like to learn more about her patriarch.
>> Yeah, that would be very interesting.
And then Cody again talks about how it's hard to relate to teenage girls, but it's easier to relate to teenage boys.
So that's why he has better relationships with his sons. And it's just like I don't know. I My dad was a girl dad, so he didn't have sons and he was involved. like he did his best to relate to us, you know, and there were times where he couldn't because yeah, like we like girly things or whatever, but Cody using this as an excuse to not relate to his daughters is really [ __ ] up.
>> It's very misogynistic. It's very toxic.
>> I just don't understand where what his logic is with that because I'm like, you can you can try though. And then we hear from the adult kids, Maddie in particular, saying that, you know, actually our dad used to take us out on dates, right? and he used to get us flowers and like treat us out to like girl dad dates or whatever and and now he stopped doing that and we really miss being able to do that with him. And this kind of gets into a segue where Cody says Isabelle asked him for her birthday for a beach trip and he she wanted some of her sisters to come and she's like, "Can we just not bring the boys?"
>> And Cody's like, "Okay, yeah, sure."
Well, and my question was when Maddie said that that they used to go on girl dates or individual dates with dad. When did that stop exactly?
>> I bet when Robin came into the picture.
>> I think so.
>> I bet when Robin came in. And Robin even talks to the wives at one point saying, you know, yeah, I've had to talk to Cody about it about his relationships with his dad and his sons. And I told him that, you know, it's not like ping around with the boys. It's like girls are so much more emotional. You got to be emotionally invested, Cody.
>> Mhm.
>> So, why don't you try to make more of an effort? And of course, when Robin says this to >> Well, she's the Cody whisperer.
>> Then Cody's like, "Yeah, I'll make more of an effort." And then we shift gears entirely again and we talk about Maddie getting baptized in the LDS church. And we have this like big family announcement about it. And um >> Was she there?
>> I don't think she was there. Yeah, I don't either.
>> But like all of the wives were there and all of the kids were there and it was kind of weird. It was like the family debriefing them being like this is what's going to happen. And you know, for the most part, everybody was kind of accepting of it of like, well, it's her life. She can choose to do what she wants to do. But some of the kids were asking some kind of challenging questions about it, which actually made Cody start to challenge his beliefs on it because at first he was like open and then now he's like, "Well, why does she want to do it?" and is she going to ostracize herself from the family because of it? And >> I don't know. I I'm just like, why are you guys even trying to tie yourselves to the AUB at this point, though? Like, you've been in Vegas for like over a year or maybe two years at this point, and you haven't gone to the AUB. You haven't gone to any of those churches, church services. You don't even do church services in your own home anymore.
>> Right. But isn't Christine still doing Principal Voices at this point?
>> Maybe she is.
>> I think she's still involved. I think I think they're still in contact with the AUB in some fashion, but also I think they want to talk about this because this is the cornerstone of their television identity. It's the fact that they are polygamist Mormons >> every opportunity they have to present that and then paint themselves as potential martyrs because what if Maddie has to disown us? What if Maddie can't talk to us anymore because we're polygamous? We're not doing anything wrong. Like that is their whole narrative and that's why they keep bringing it up.
>> And does Maddie actually end up getting baptized? Cuz I thought she got like >> No, they don't accept her. They don't even let her in.
>> That's what I thought. So this whole thing it just ends up being a moot point.
>> And then the last bit of the episode is discussing the adoption of Aurora, Briana, and Dayton. and we get a little bit more insight into why they're choosing to do it the way that they want to do it. So, they wanted to file for the adoption in Montana where the kid's biological father, Preston, lives, because they wanted it to be easier on him. They didn't want it to be like a big fight. I guess they didn't want it to be in Nevada because they didn't want I think Robin says it specifically like we didn't want him to think that we were going to make it harder on him or something to that effect. She wants it to be in Montana because there are judges there that are sympathetic to polygamy whereas in Las Vegas you are a lot less likely to find a judge like that. But Cody wants Nevada to be the home turf because it will disincinline Preston of like traveling down to Nevada and like right they would maybe have to bleed him dry and would he be able to afford it and all of these other things.
I think Cody wants to do a snaky thing and I do I think Robin does as well. I don't know. Yeah, she has a lawyer there too that helped her with her divorce and so she wants to use that same lawyer and I forgot she also said she wanted to do it in Montana because she didn't want to have to tell her kids later on in the future that they made it harder on their biological dad. And I'm like, okay, this is proof that you're just wanting to make it as complicated and as snaky as possible and you are doing something bad here. like you are >> taking's kids away.
>> And that's the other layer of all of this is that they are >> basically I don't want to say blackmailing, >> but they are kind of like >> trying to incentivize him >> to do the adoption by forgiving his child support debt and forgiving all of the medical bills, I guess, that he allegedly owes for the three kids.
particularly probably Dayton probably.
>> Which is ironic since he was with Cody when he had his ATV accident.
>> Yeah. And so Robin's like, "It's actually a good thing for him. It's a good deal. So that's why he should take it because >> it's a good deal because he doesn't have to pay child support and he doesn't have to pay the medical bills." And I'm like, "Okay, but then >> what about having a biod in their lives?" What about the enhancement of that? I know Robin is so invested in painting Preston as an abuser and she's getting like more diabolical with her rhetoric from season to season. Like she really wants us to believe that he was a bad guy, but Preston's family over the years have spoken out and said, "No, he's actually a a good guy. Yeah, they were poor, but Robin was actually the one who was spending all the time getting them into debt. She was the problem." So, it's like he said, she said, but like I I think you should try and keep the dad in the children's lives. And I want to speculate here and I wonder whether the reason we don't see Dayton in the year of our Lord 2026 is because he is trying to reestablish a connection with Preston who is ill.
>> Yep.
>> With cancer. How is he doing? Does anybody know?
>> I don't know. I haven't found any new information about that. If anybody knows, please let us know in the comments below. But like how are you going to feel as Aurora and Dayton and maybe Briana although she seems evil.
Sorry. But like when you are in your 30s and your 40s and your sick father has passed or I don't know. I don't want to speak anything out there. But like what if he does and those precious years were taken away from you by a conniving mother and adopted father who wanted to isolate you from your dad. Like that just would be such a horrible wound. Uh yeah, 100%. And you lose out on all that time. Like I have my own personal experience with that. And I have family members who have had a personal experience like that where they had even worse situations where their mom like completely took them away from their dad for over 10 years and then they were able to reconnect when they were an adult. But like you lose out on all that time. And it's funny that you bring up Dayton because Robin brings up Dayton in this episode, specifically with her worry about telling her kids later on in the future about how the adoption process actually went. She's really concerned because she wants to make sure her kids know that she's doing the best thing for them >> and that they're being nice to Preston about it. But in reality, what they're doing, in my opinion, is that they are going behind his back and they're they're totally like pulling his arm and being like, you know, we want this adoption. So, they're forcing it on him.
>> Yeah. If you and we'll forgive your debt >> because he can't afford to travel to Las Vegas at this time because he can't afford to litigate it because he can't afford it and he owes. And that's the thing, the other like elephant in the room with all of this is that they want to do this adoption because they Preston hasn't seen his kids in two years. But I'm like, >> why is that Robin?
>> Why is that?
>> Why aren't you taking your kids? That she used to.
>> Yeah, she used to. She did like once we saw camera one time.
>> Yeah, but I don't think she's been doing it regularly. And how many out of state moves have you done at this point?
You've done at least two or three. Like cuz she went from Montana like she went to Wyoming then she went to St. George >> and up to Lehigh >> Lehi and Vegas. And so it's like, yeah, how can you cultivate or like uh nurture a relationship with their biological father if you are states away?
>> You can't do it.
>> So he's already disadvantaged.
>> Exactly.
>> He can't follow you around. He doesn't have the means to do so. And meanwhile, you're on this television show bringing in all of this money. He can see that his kids are being taken care of and you're performing that you want to love them Cody and the rest of the family. I don't know. But like it's just such a bad situation for him. Like I don't know him. Maybe he was a bad person.
>> Maybe he was terrible.
>> But I think there is a correlation between the time that the news was released that he was sick and the time that Dayton disappeared from our televisions. And I was also watching Dayton in this episode when they announced the adoption and they asked him specifically, "How do you feel?" He was very neutral. Yeah.
>> He's like, "Yeah, that sounds great."
>> Yep.
>> Whereas Aurora jumped into Cody's lap and Briana was so excited. Dayton's like, "Yeah, that's great.
>> Yep.
>> Yeah, I want that."
>> And no wonder Robin is worried about Dayton specifically.
>> She can see it >> because she knows.
>> And that's probably because Dayton had longer with Preston.
>> He has more of an established relationship with his biod. And it was probably a good one while they were together.
>> Probably. I mean, we're just speculating. Obviously, if Preston was actually abusive and terrible, like we don't advocate for like the kids having a relationship with somebody who's that terrible. Obviously, but it's just like given Robin and Cody's track record, how manipulative and how they are and calculated, it's like it wouldn't surprise either of us if this whole adoption thing was done in a very terrible shitty way. And then when they're talking about it, they like get a phone call from Robin's lawyer in Montana. So they filed for the adoption in Montana because they wanted it to be easier for Preston. The lawyer calls them and says, "Well, the judge found that Nevada is actually their home state." Which they don't really go into any more detail, but I'm kind of wondering if the judge was like, "We're not going to file this adoption in Montana because obviously the kids live in Nevada, so file it there."
>> I'm wondering if that was kind of the conversation. It could have just been a jurisdiction issue, plain and simple.
>> Yeah.
>> And then they also mention that Preston has been avoiding being served and he's avoiding like doing the paperwork. And so the lawyer says something to the effect of like, well, if he's avoiding it, it works better in your favor because you can just file it without his influence. And I don't know what the legality is with that.
>> You can't proceed with the adoption without his agreement. I know ultimately he does end up agreeing to it, but maybe the reason he's avoiding service is because he doesn't want to lose connection with his kids.
>> Maybe you guys are so cold-hearted.
>> And that's the thing. And Robin's like, "Well, I'm I'm really concerned. I really want the ball to be in his court so that he has no excuses." And I'm like, "What do you mean no excuses?"
It's again like it's all pointing to this is what Robin wants. It's not necessarily for the betterment of her kids. It's a power play. She doesn't want Preston in her life whatsoever.
Doesn't want Preston in her kids' life.
And she's making that decision for them.
And so it would make sense if Dayton grew up and finally realized like, "Oh, my mom's a snake.
>> I'm going to go back and see my daddy."
>> Yep.
>> And then at the end of the episode, Cody, you know, he's like, "Well, Preston's giving us a hard time. I have no problem going to war.
>> Okay, Cody, >> for my kids.
>> And you know, I was watching this from this perspective of like >> maybe Cody doesn't know the full extent of the situation.
>> Probably not.
>> Maybe Robin has manipulated him.
>> I am sure >> to believe that Preston was such an evil, horrible, awful dude. And Cody is doing all of this from a paternal, like protective point of view. And I could see that, but the whole situation to me just feels really icky. Okay, but let's pop up a little bit, go a little meta.
So, if Preston doesn't lose access to his kids, if he still exercises his visitation, he has more influence over those kids. And as they get older, he has an opportunity to establish a deeper bond and relationship with his children who might at some point make a decision that they want to live with their dad.
>> Certainly Dayton might have made that decision and maybe even the girls with enough exposure to their father would want to spend more time with him.
>> Now, if that happened, if some of these kids wanted to live with him or spend more time with him, how would that that impact the child support? How would that impact the money? Like what if at some point he had possession of all three kids? Robin would have to pay. Cody would have to pay. I think there is also some sort of a financial protective incentive that Robin is thinking about.
I think she wants to shank her ex because she wants to get him for whatever reason. Yeah. But I also think there's this protect like I want to protect this empire that I just got access. I just got purview over visav my legal marriage to Cody Brown. I am now in charge of all of this and I don't want him to have any way to get any of it.
>> Oh my god, that's so [ __ ] diabolical.
But I could totally see that if Robin really is this master manipulator, puppet master, whatever. I could totally see something like that because I mean even if she kept like the custody rights and Preston was paying child support, like he still would have access to the kids and therefore her empire. And so she couldn't let that happen. It's a vulnerability at the very least. It's a weakness and exposure.
>> God, >> I just want her kids to like wake the [ __ ] up.
>> And maybe has I think Aurora has the potential to. I don't know. She's really >> so manipulated though.
>> Been drinking the Kool-Aid and really like loves Cody. But I think if she does get married to another man, she gets integrated into another family structure of like actually good people. like she has a chance to like get some perspective on what's been happening.
And when she has her own kids, when they have their own children, they'll be able to kind of see, huh, maybe mom wasn't doing things on the up and up the entire time. Maybe I should have had the opportunity to know my dad.
>> I feel like it's possible only because I was like that. Like I had believed certain things about my family, specifically my father. Hi dad, if you're listening. I believed certain things for a long time. And then when I got out on my own and got a partner and went to therapy, I realized like, oh [ __ ] Um, this was not the way it was.
Like, and I was able to reconcile things with my dad later on in life, and I'm very grateful for that. But it took a lot of years. And so, I hope that for Aurora, and I hope that for Briana, I think it's possible, but it's not easy.
And it is kind of like a ontologically shocking thing to have to go through, especially in your 20s when you're like your brain's fully developing and you're becoming an adult and you realize like, oh, your parents are just people and like they're flawed and it's like this huge journey. And unless Aurora and Briana can get out of that [ __ ] house and get away from Robin and her web, like I don't know if they're going to be able to come to that kind of realization, cuz I could only come out of that when I got to be on my own, you know? So, >> I hope that for them because if Preston actually wasn't a terrible person, like he got jipped, man.
>> Oh, he got >> he got robbed.
>> So [ __ ] Yeah.
>> And I feel bad for him. You know, if he's not a bad guy. If he's a piece of [ __ ] then obviously I take that back.
And so then the preview for the next episode or the rest of the season, Cody and Christine's anniversary is coming up. And so they're going to Galveastston.
>> Beautiful scenic Galveastston, Texas.
>> Did I ever tell you when I I did >> when I went to Galveastston?
>> Girl, >> I'll save it for next week.
>> And I don't want to [ __ ] on it because I know some people are like, I love Galveastston. That's great for you.
>> But I'm from Hawaii.
>> I'm from Oregon.
>> No. And and the Gulf is gorgeous. Don't get me wrong. But we'll talk about it next week because I mean, what an experience that was. And I think Christine's about to have a great experience, too, right?
>> Well, and it's like their anniversary trip and then they bring their [ __ ] family therapist. So, they bring Nancy with them for therapy on their anniversary weekend.
>> That sounds fun.
>> And I remember this episode. It's bad.
>> Yeah.
>> Um and then Christine admits to being a jealous hoe. Fair and valid. And then Robin has a panic attack because of the adoption process. And it's so like >> I'm like, get out of here, dude.
>> Yeah.
>> I I just don't care.
>> I don't either >> at all. So, this season's going to pop off here soon. This episode was totally boring, but I'm hoping the next episodes are going to be better.
>> Pop off like that booty, huh?
He still walked around with that booty.
30 years old. Yes, Lord. But I I enjoyed it. I mean, it's it's We're on a journey.
>> We are on a journey.
>> Season 9 journey. I can't wait to get to season 10 because that's full catfish mode. Like right now, I am content and I hope everyone else is as well. Now, Beatric, is there anything else that we should say to these beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here?
>> Well, if you love our podcast, please do us a favor. go to your favorite podcast platform and leave us a glowing five star review. Costs you nothing and it really helps us grow the pod and we would really appreciate it. So, thank you very much.
>> We also want to acknowledge that we did not drop a Plaville episode last week and that was because >> I was not feeling well that day. I was under the weather and you were also under the weather. So, we are going to do double duty this week and also for patrons only. I don't know if you heard about this, but that psychotic nutcracker allegedly Veronica Peters, Micah's ex, dropped a live, >> an Instagram live >> like and it was a four or fivepart live in which she made some wild >> insane >> wild allegations.
>> Insane.
>> And so for patrons only, Beatatric and I are going to watch them and comment on them and share with you exactly what she said. But like it's really bad and so we want to get into it. Oh, the garbage.
The garbage. Juicy. So until then, please do not forget that we have nothing but love for you and peace out.
