I understand why so many people feel nervous telling friends or family they’re in a non-monogamous

[00:00:00]One of my best friends moms said to her, "I don't think you should let Danielle hang out with your husband. She told me about this yesterday kind of off the cuff while we were walking around Paris and my face dropped." My friend saw my reaction and said, "Oh my gosh, Danielle, I I don't feel that way. You hang out with me and my husband all the time. I completely trust you." I I just thought it was silly. I've known my friend for 20 years. Her mom's probably known me about that long. Knows that we talk all the time. Knows that we go on vacations together. knows that like my husband is friends with her husband, that our kids are friends. But about a year ago, my friend's mom found out that I'm in an open relationship. And I think what hurt so much is that the stigma and her preconceived notions of an open marriage outweighed me as a person and the person that she had known and heard of for the past 20 years. My friend and her husband are happily monogously married. I hate but I feel like I have to say publicly I would never.
