Vlog - E697 - "These Have Been On My List For A While Now!!" 🇰🇭 Siem ReapAdded:
[music] [music] >> Hey guys, Shawn here. Welcome back to another vlog.
The palace now making fun of me as I'm vlogging cuz it's what she does.
Uh we are if you watch the last video you saw the trick here.
So we are going to go in and explore this section.
And of course as per usual I'm going to take the camera off of me. So 1 second here.
Tada.
There's the family.
Wow.
Yeah, this is all laterite coming in.
Very uneven.
Especially this early in the morning my brain is like I don't like it.
We can walk on the edge here. I think this is sandstone.
Majority of the buildings here are built with laterite mixed with sandstone.
And there's different grades of sandstone, too.
Uh some are a higher quality with some quartz my understanding inside.
So.
>> [cough] >> Okay, we're going to taking off our shoes.
We're wearing some Should be fun on my toes.
Oh, that's great.
Shoes are off. Don't you love the uh the color tones of my skin?
Okay, you see the sandal marks here.
Definitely a different feeling walking here barefoot.
It's a little orange.
Wow.
And it's a Buddha.
They have these big planters full of incense that they burn.
Just going to walk to Oh, it's beautiful.
Please here are the older ones that I said that were They're like a whole series of them.
About a dozen or so, just along a little stretch of road.
These look like the the markers for the tsars.
They're all around it.
Okay.
I'm going to stop filming and I'll bring you guys along on our next step. We're going to see a bunch of stuff today.
It's time for a little breakfast.
So, what is it, rice? Yes. Inside anything? Um inside?
Inside. Inside?
I'm afraid to say together.
>> I'm laying on top of this.
>> [laughter] >> It's too early for her to speak English.
So, we've been translating already this morning.
So, the first place that we were at was a temple and praying.
Um very powerful one, apparently. She was asking me to Okay.
She's going to help peel it up for me.
Apparently, one hand is not easy.
Aha. It should be sticky rice, if memory serves anytime I've had these things.
And it's done in banana leaf, right?
Banana leaf?
No banana. No, no, no. Leaf banana.
Yeah, yeah.
So.
Cheers.
Wow. Okay.
That all?
No?
Bean?
Inside.
Little bean bean?
>> Green. Green, okay.
>> Green bean. Mung bean, I think.
Little bean.
You like? Mhm. [snorts] Mhm.
Good.
Good, enjoy. Mhm.
Raisin beans.
Mhm.
So, yeah, the um the first temple we were at historically has got a lot of reverence.
She wanted to come really in the morning. Um uh you can do your prayers, make your wishes, whatever you want.
Um and she said later it's just going to be packed, like there's tons and tons of people standing there, so we're the only ones here. Nobody.
Probably in a few hours it'll be just jammed, so.
We're going to go to this. I also got a steamed bun which I think has um pork in, so.
I'm going to sit here and relax for a minute, eat, and then we'll go to our next destination.
And there's this helpful entry.
Wait.
Yeah, we're going to walk over.
So, this is the temple we were just at.
And then right behind it are all these little ones that I've always wanted to explore and never come over here. We're going to do it today.
Well, that thing makes a little bit of noise.
All the electronics around it are keeping it going.
You can hear a little hum.
You see?
Something like that. Woosh in the water.
This is really cool.
So, yeah, we had that little bite to eat. Supposed to be sitting there.
I think she's got something planned. I don't know what's going on.
She said she'd let me know when she was ready.
So, I was like, "Okay."
She also asked me if I had any outside money other than ABA. So, I had like five bucks on me, so I gave it to her.
Again, don't know what's going on. So, that breakfast that we had, so I had the sticky rice with the bean inside the um had the little bun with the little pork inside.
Children both had two things each and Pa had one of the sticky rice. The total for everything was 3,500 riel. So, just under a dollar for all of us to have a snack for breakfast.
25 cents each.
So, it would have been a dollar if she had one, I think.
I think it's uh yeah, it's 500 riel each for everything we had.
Which is a freaking bargain.
And these are gorgeous.
You ever go in?
You ever explore before?
Wow.
Yeah, they're shoring it up inside.
This is way bigger in person.
You drive past it on the bike, you're like, "Oh, this looks tiny."
You get out here, you realize it's like a four-story building.
Yeah, this is all laterite.
Same stone there.
It's either just adding the whole area here.
So, this is a little stretch of 1 2 and 3 4 5 6 old buildings here.
Most is fun.
It's pretty.
Crazy steps.
Yeah?
Snail?
You know snail?
Not not I don't I don't know.
I've seen Oh, a tree? Yes.
Okay.
Also, this would be all the time.
I want to see the road.
Mhm.
Okay.
Um this I make in hand. Yeah, I think made by hand. Yeah, I know.
No machine.
It's amazing.
Yeah.
It's a cool naga.
It's naga, right?
So tiny in here.
Again, you don't feel it until you get in.
Well, this one has definitely seen better days.
>> [clears throat] >> Definitely in the jungle here.
Oh, wow.
The the smell of the of the grass compost.
It's okay.
That's uh good to make fertilizer for uh growing plant.
Well, this one is definitely seen better days, for sure.
>> So, that's one size.
Looks like it collapsed in on itself.
Probably a tree, I would suggest.
Those trees look like they're growing either in it or on the side.
Well, you've got roots here.
So.
Oh, yeah.
That's a tree.
That's why a tree. Oh.
That's what it was.
Well, then nature doesn't mess about.
Yeah.
Wow, so wet.
Careful, ant.
Oh.
Okay.
You want to walk down?
Sure.
It's beautiful, Mono.
I don't know what the pile's doing, but uh I got the kids, I'm happy.
Yes, so right across the way, that's the Elephant Terrace.
It's massive, too.
I think in total, about a half a kilometer or so, the wall.
At least the third.
Long stretch.
Yeah, this is This is a cool place.
Yeah, they do all the grass cuttings and they throw the grass cuttings back there, so you can smell the compost.
Ouch.
Hit the rock.
Wow, that's actually a piece of the building I just tripped over.
I tripped over a stump.
A piece of a pole.
Heavy?
Not that heavy.
Oh, wow.
That's really heavy.
For me, it's not. Enough.
You're strong, you're young.
>> [laughter] >> So, yeah, that's the one that was in a little bit collapsing and then they're all collapsing away.
What are you doing, Nita?
Beautiful spot.
I wonder why it's raised here.
I wonder if it was like a water feature in there at one point.
Well, it looks like it could have been.
It was kind of flattened, so I could imagine water being in there.
I'm going to wear a ring a shirt that I bought for myself that I thought I might fit into.
I was in it the other day.
I keep thinking I'm thinner than I am.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, two XL work.
>> I think I will end things here.
This is way more interesting than I expected it to be.
I can, I just saw, you know, little bits on the side as I drove by.
Everything else around here, you know, the you know, the giant temples, you don't think of this as being anything.
Oh my goodness.
>> [laughter] >> Let me guess, light for you?
Not heavy? Not heavy. heavy.
Too strong.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah.
Anyway, yeah, this has been awesome.
And again, these stretch all the way down, so they're they they start at the same area right across from Is that bull pond?
Think.
Bull pond.
You should entertain yourself with these little things all the time.
Yeah, so the the one temple, these start here and these run all the way down past there.
And then when you get to the end, they go down like another six cow.
Cow flop.
Poop.
Yeah.
Very good for plant.
Anyway, we'll leave you at cow So, anyway, hope you guys enjoyed. If you like the content, please feel free to like, comment, share, subscribe.
