Their Cruise Doctor Got It Catastrophically Wrong

[00:00:00]On the morning of April 12th, passengers on board the MVHandas awoke to this announcement.

[00:00:04]>> This is my sad duty uh to inform you that one of our passengers sadly passed away last night. Tragic as it is that it was due to natural causes, we believe.

[00:00:19]>> Sadly, the captain was wrong and what killed the passenger was a rare and deadly strain of haunt virus. The passengers needed doctors, but as we'll see, they probably needed lawyers, too.

[00:00:28]They might be able to claim that sick passengers should have been more effectively quarantined or that they should have been more quickly evacuated from the ship so they couldn't put the others at risk or that other passengers should have been given more information.

[00:00:38]But of course, the company's attorneys would argue that the ship's limited medical capabilities didn't allow it to run these kinds of diagnostic tests and that the symptoms were ambiguous. It could just have easily have been the ordinary flu or pneumonia and that haunt virus is very rare. So, it would not immediately be something that the ship's doctor would suspect. Doctors love to tell you that if you hear hooves, you assume horse. You don't assume Zebra, at least in the first instance.
