Hebrews 10:26 teaches that Christ's sacrifice was sufficient and final for all time, meaning there is no longer any sacrifice for sins after receiving the knowledge of the truth; those who willfully continue sinning after this knowledge face judgment rather than another sacrifice, as the old covenant sacrifices were merely shadows that could never truly take away sins.

Why Do So Many Miss Hebrews 10:26Added:
So, let me do this. I said I was going to do it. I'm I'm going to go ahead and do it. I want to be I want to be a man of my word.
This might take me five hours to do this thing, but I said I'm going to do it because someone, matter of fact, someone asked um Hebrews 10:26. They always bring up Hebrews 10:26. So, let's go to Hebrews 10:26, shall we?
For if we go on sinning. Now, four is a conjunction, is it not? So four of Hebrews 10:26 is tied to the previous set of scriptures, right?
So let's go to the previous set of scriptures cuz what happens is people read these texts as though that verse 26 is by itself. By the way, chapter 101 chap chapter 10 verse one of Hebrews uh is also um it also begins with a conjunction for. So, truth be told, to keep this in context, uh, dog on, we got to go to Hebrews 9.
Can you see why answering Hebrews 10 to keep it in context can take some time?
By the way, this this piggybacks and picks up off of uh what Caleb and I were talking about where he speaks about Jesus says, "Therefore, it is necessary for the copies of things in the heavens to be cleansed with these." He says, "With what? with his blood, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifice. For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands a mere copy of the true ones um but into heaven. So Christ enters into heaven. What is he doing in heaven? He's making intercession every day on the believer's behalf. Then he says there are mere copy I'm sorry um nor was it that he would offer himself often. Remember if you can lose yourself I mean if you can lose salvation there's no more offering.
The old offering doesn't I'm sorry. And if you ever want to just get one truth in your head, the old offering does not count for future salvation. If you need redemption, if you need atonement, you've got to get a current or a new um sacrifice. The old one does not work because again, the pattern of the new covenant or new testament atonement is the same pattern of the old.
There's a high priest. There's a scapegoat, a sin offering, and a sacrificial offering. There's intercession. All those things, same thing here. Only difference is Jesus plays a part of all of those. And if you were in need of atonement in this month, you can't go back to the old sacrifice and that be good enough. That's why if you lose your salvation, you're you're never getting it back ever because there is no new atonement. No new sacrifice. Which is why Jesus says the Telsty stamped paid in full never to be another debt incurred. God is not going to come back and say God is never going to come back and say I need I need more. What you paid wasn't good enough. He says nor was it that he would offer himself often as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise he would needed to suffer. Look what it says. Jesus would have needed to suffer often. If salvation is lost and you need to get saved again, he would have to suffer often.
But now once at the consummation of ages, he has m been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And in as much as is appointed for men to die, it's been appointed once comes the judgment. And then so Christ also having been offered once. Once somebody say once to bear the sins of the many will appear a second time. The next time you see him will not be to give you another sacrifice. This time will be for salvation. I'm coming to pick up. The first time I came for delivery. This time I'm coming for a pickup.
For the law since it again look what he's saying. For the law has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things can never can never by the same sacrifices that they offer continually year by year make you perfect. So he's doing something different otherwise they would have ceased to be offered. Having once been cleansed would no longer have a concept of sins. That wasn't the case then. But in those sacrificed as a reminder of sins for it's impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. But not with the blood of Jesus. He says, "Sacrifice and offerings you have not desired, but a body prepared for me to take away your sins." And I said, "Behold, I've come uh in the book um in I have come in the book. It's written of me to do your will." What's the will of God that he as Jesus said in John 6 that he will lose none after saying above? Look what he says. sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you have not desired nor have you taken pleasure in he says then he said behold I have come to do your will he takes away the first that's the old covenant the old the law in order to establish the second by this look what he says by this establishment of what he's doing we have been past tense we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Christ how many times one time once for All now every priest will stand ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices which can never take away sins. Jesus's one time does take away sins cuz he says but he having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time. But you come back and say no he didn't take away sins for all time just just a few. But if I sin again, no. He took away all sins for all time. He sat down at the right hand of God. What's he doing at the right hand of God? Interceding constantly according to Hebrews 7:25.
Waiting for that time onward until his enemies be made his foots. For by one offering he has perfected me and you. So all of us knuckleheads have been perfected. How long? For all time. Those who are sanctified. That's us. And the Holy Spirit also testifies for us. This is the covenant that I will make with them. Look what he says. The Holy Spirit bears witness by saying this. After those days, I will put my laws where?
In their heart and on their mind, and I won't turn away from them, and they won't turn away from me. And their sins and their lawless deeds I will never ever ever again remember. But you say he will. No, he doesn't. Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering. So if sins have been forgiven, all sins, is there ever a need for another offering? No.
No. If you think you are, then just do this and say, "No, knucklehead. There is no more offering ever again because there's no more sin to put away. It's been taken care of." Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new living way, which he inaugurated for us through the veil, that is his flesh, and since we have a great high priest over us, over the house of God, that's Jesus, let us draw near. How does he say with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean? Isn't that what he said in in John 3?
Ain't that what he's speaking about in Luke 8, in Ezekiel 36, Ezekiel 11, Jeremiah 31:32, Deuteronomy, having our having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and bodies washed with pure water, let us hold fast the the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promises is faithful. Promise what?
Promise your salvation. He promised you and he's the one that's faithful. And let us consider how to stimulate one another, not forsaking the assembly.
Let's drop down to verse 26. For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the what? The knowledge. The what? The knowledge. The what? The knowledge. What did I say, folks? Move away from the knowledge of the truth. There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. This goes with what he was just saying. There's no more sacrifice for you. You knucklehead. There's nothing else left.
You keep thinking there's another sacrifice left. If you sin, guess what?
There's nothing else left. So if you think you need some more sacrifices, if you think you've lost it, there is no more sacrifice. There no longer remains a sacrifice. What there remains if you think you have outsinned the sacrifice is a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of fire which will consume.
Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mer without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much more severe do you think the person will deserve? who has disregarded said it was incomplete, trampled underfoot the son of God and and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant. What does this mean?
Regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant.
Taking Jesus's blood and equating it with the blood of bulls and goats. You whatever. We need some more. We need more sacrifices. No. Jesus's blood is a lot different. Would you agree?
by which he was sanctified and has insulted the spirit of grace. For we know him who says vengeance is mine and again the Lord will judge. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of a living God. But remember but somebody say but but remember the former days when after being enlightened you endured a great conflict of suffering.
Who's he talking about? He's talking to these Jews. partly by being made public spectacles through the reproaches and tribulations and partly by becoming sharers with those who uh who were so treated. For you showed sympathy to the prisoners. Again, the book of Hebrews is written to Jewish believers, knowing that you have yourselves a better possession. Therefore, look what he says. Do not throw away your confidence.
Do not throw away your confidence.
Confidence about what? About the salvation. What have I been talking about in in in all of this? Which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance. So that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what is promised. For yet in a very little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous ones shall live by faith.
But and if he shrinks back, if you happen to shrink back, my soul has no pleasure. But somebody say but. But that's not us. We are not of those who shrink back, but of those who have faith preserving the soul.
Hebrews chapter 10 and chapter 9 and chapter 8 and chapter 7 and chapter 6. And by the way, do you know what's next after Hebrews 11 I mean 10? Hebrews 11. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for.
The conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval.
Why would he go into that? Because your salvation is predicated upon your faith.
And your faith is based on something you ain't even seen. You just heard. How do you hear these words of God and just say, "Ah, I hear what you're saying, but I don't I didn't." It makes you start to question, "Does this person really even have faith?" You can read this stuff and then because you weren't there, you still say, "I believe it. I I I see what you're saying, but I can't accept that."
Makes you wonder. Make makes you wonder.
