If you don't know what that is, I'm about to explain to you what it is, man. It's basically a a practice widely used in Mexico to raise money for a good cause. That's what it is, right? So when I came to Mexico after being deported, right, I was introduced to the raffles, you know, I heard of of them, never practiced that in in the states, but in Mexico, I believe it was like a month since we arrived. Like people were doing raffles left and right. I had different family members that were going to school and they need money, raise money for a a school trip, maybe a school project, whatever the case might be. So, they always used to do a raffle. They raffle like some carasada. They raffle a speaker. They might raffle a 24 pack of beer. Whatever the case might be, their raffle, but in a way is to show some support for their cause, which it it is a great cause is is chasing their education and and completing a career, man. So, I'm always going to be behind that. So, every time they did that, I'll buy a ticket, which is was 50 pesos, which is what two $2.50 50 cents back then, right? Like if it was the dollar at 20 pesos. So that's what it was, man.

[00:01:54]And by raising that money, basically they would be able to pay for whatever they needed to get paid, right? I seen a lot of families doing that, man. And including my family, they they did it like every so often, you know, I mean, because I had those cousins, they were going to school and stuff like that.

[00:02:13]Also, the Ainellas, if you don't know what Ainella is, I got into I heard about them when I was a little kid, I didn't know what it was. But then when I came to Mexico and actually understood, I didn't even know why people did it, right? So, basically, for those who don't know what a canela is, is basically, let's say I get 10 10 people and those 10 people every week for 11 weeks, you have to put in a thousand pesos, $100, you know? So it's going to be 10 people $100 every week. So that's $1,000 every week. So one person will get that money that week, you know, and all those week is going to pass by and every single individual is going to get $1,000 and at the end, right, there's going to be the extra number in where the guy who made that gets $1,000. So basically, you are paying somebody 10% for so they can help you save $1,000.

[00:03:11]That's what it is, right? Which I never understood it when in reality if you have a piggy bank, just save your money or you can put it in your bank. But I guess if you need that money uh super quick, those first weeks are very u very helpful because you're going to get the money super fast. And by the way, when you do this with people that you don't know, most likely you're going to get burned. We always see people on YouTube saying, "Oh, this person participated on Mcinella and they're not paying. They give me giving me the runaround. They block me and stuff like that and they just do those scam on Facebook. They burn them on Facebook." Right? So that's why it's basically practice between friends and family members, right? Never done that. I don't think I'll ever do that because of that because I had to take 10 [music] pay 10% to somebody to save me $1,000 when I can do it myself and and save that $10,000 or that 10 10%, right? Which is the extra $100 if that was the case. It depends.

[00:04:11]Sometimes people do like 500 pesos, something like that, right? It depends how it is, how big it is and actually how many people there might be cuz it could be more people right now. Another thing is that the the tamalissa with kawsa. So with this is how we see it whenever somebody has a necessity like I have a a family member right now a primo who needs surgery on his knee right the guy has a good job.

[00:04:39]He's a he has a career. He's a lawyer right? His wife is a teacher and you're not going to believe that. But they basically make almost the same. That's how it is in Mexico. They make almost the same. They just um had a newborn. Uh they're building their house so far. I believe they got two rooms and stuff like that. And they're gonna keep on building to the the thing, but his knee is messed up. He he needs a surgery. And for the past 6 months, his mom, my aunt, been doing tamalissas and you know, every week people order, "Hey man, can I get a dozen? Can I have a doz have a dozen?" and you go and and pick it up and pay it because at the end of the day, man, it's it's for a good good cause, right? It's not like give me give me give me, but it's like, okay, you you receiving something in return. It's like just let me work for this, but support me. That's how how it is. And when it's things for that, man, of course, we're going to show love and support right now.

[00:05:41]They just recently did a a raffle when they they also raffle a AC unit and it is funny to it is fun to participate in that stuff and and all that stuff. Now all this is is basically helping but also getting something in return. Right?

[00:05:58]There's also which I have family members that uh been I think my uncle broke his shoulder. I think it was what like two three years ago like three years ago if I'm not mistaken it was when I barely was when we just started our donut shop.

[00:06:13]I remember I went to his house and gave him 300 pesos. What was 300 pesos back then? We were struggling. I'm telling you, we're struggling bad. But somehow some way I managed to get 300 pesos saying, "Well, here uncle, I don't it's not that much, but for medicine, whatever the case might be, right?" But I remember that a lot of aunts, a lot of uncles did help and send like a,000 pesos, um, 500 pesos, like different families, right? Just just help him because I I believe his surgery was uh a,000 like a,000 1,500. again he has he's insured he's he can go to those regular doctors but the Mexican prefer the private sector because it's better it's better overall I'm sorry but it's better so I don't think that uh universal healthcare in Mexico is going to make any difference uh with the Mexican citizens to be honest right and that's just reality in Mexico you know we go through struggles. Uh something happens and that's something that a lot of people in the on the US don't go through it. Why? Because you have insurance. And trust me, all the hospitals, they're well equipped. In Mexico, it's not like that. It's not like that at all. And that's why I figure there's more raffles there. There's more tamalis, there's ganellas because of that same thing.

[00:07:43]Because right here in Mexico insurance um especially for a private not everybody has insurance right so whenever they come across any healthc care it's like oh man now we have to raise money for this which in the US is not like that right and in the US we didn't practice that we didn't never practice that whenever a family member went through a a [clears throat] situation right it's like they already had their money saved up and the only time that I have seen my family actually helping other family members is when uh one of her siblings, one of her um cousins, aunts, grandpa, grandma passed away, right? So that's when the family gets together and here it is, man.

[00:08:27]Here's $1,000. Here's $500, whatever the case might be. So it can ease you from the the big expense that that uh thing is going to cost, right? That's the only time that I have seen family members in the US actually getting together and supporting one another. Right. Again with the wifey um she don't know what a raffle is. She didn't know nothing about selling food for a good cause and stuff like that. So she was introduced to something new right here in Mexico, right? Which I did as well. But this is the culture and this is how uh the Mexicans the families get together and support one another, right? which is I feel is great. I feel it's great. Uh right now me and the wife, we were in talks to see if we start a GoFundMe to uh to help us with their stuff because I don't know if I talked about this, but >> [snorts] >> uh we're going through medical issues as well, right? Uh I need to have surgery uh for my hernia, which is going to be $2,500. And the wifey, she has issues as well. I [clears throat] don't know if she's going to when she's going to talk about this. Uh she said that she wants to make videos about this. I I was like, "You know what? I'm I would never tell you to do something like that unless you're not comfortable doing it, right?"

[00:09:46]Because I do understand what it is. And you know, um I feel for her as a woman.

[00:09:52]I feel for her because it's something very difficult and something that hurts her a lot. A lot, man. And it's a sensitive uh subject, right? But she says she wants to share with you guys.

[00:10:05]And yeah, she's going to need um some um some help with that. Some help with that 100% because it's going to be a good amount of money when it comes down to that. But um I would not give I'm not going to say what it is unless she's going to be the one who actually made that video because I can't speak on that. You know what I mean? She's my wife and I'm going to give her that respect that she deserves that time and she wants to share that with you guys.

[00:10:32]she's going to share it. And of course, we're going to go through the whole process because I'm I'm I'm looking into ways to start this process uh so we can start doing it ASAP, man. Because enough is enough, man. But uh with this being said, thank you very much. And that's how Mexican families actually help one another. Uh again you have to understand that me and my wife sometimes we feel like secluded in a way because we came late to the family like my family has connection like oh they go right here they go right here I mean they always hang around stuff like that but uh we feel kind of odd in in a way right I know I can go over there but it's not like [snorts] you know like there's that connection like that and it sucks right it sucks but at the end of the day I and all I need is just my the wife and my little ones honestly, right? The rest we can figure it out ourselves, but always regardless of anything else, man, we always show support to uh one another because that's what life should be about. So, right now, yes, my cousin is going through a situation and all the families is is helping him through buying tamales. We are helping him as well and also uh buying his uh raffle tickets.

[00:11:51]He's been doing that for 6 months already, man. 6 months. So, it's been a minute. He has to pay $6,000 for that thing. So, hopefully he he makes it. And now we have to concentrate on ourselves now. You know what I mean? So, with this being said, we are out. Thank you. Thank you very much for the support.
