[00:00:33]Unlike other frequency shifters, which are block-based, the Freak operates in the continuous time domain, allowing for smooth, distortion-free frequency shifting.

[00:00:42]The Freak is now comprised of four main controls.

[00:00:46]A frequency shifter, which shifts the signal up and down the spectrum.

[00:00:55]>> [music] >> A feedback control, which routes the signal back into itself and behaves almost like a barber pole phaser.

[00:01:19]A rotational control, which shifts the phase of the left and right channels away from each other.

[00:01:37]And a range mode, which determines expressiveness of the frequency shifter.

[00:01:42]The lower range modes are ideal for phaser-like textures, whereas the higher range modes deliver that classic style frequency shifting.

[00:01:49]Oh, and there's also a BPM mode now, which sets the phase rippling effect to the tempo of the DAW.

[00:01:58]We found one useful approach for the Freak when stacking multiple instances in the DAW.

[00:02:03]Use one instance with a low range and a high feedback to create a bubbling phaser. Then place a second instance with a larger range to create a riser.

[00:02:11]The sound is phenomenal.

[00:02:23]Additionally, the Freak has a stereo control to expand the stereo image and a mix control to blend the wet and dry signals together, which can really accentuate frequency tension.
