I Bought The "Viral" Amazon Home Finds Influencers Recommended (That They Didn't Even Try!)

[00:00:00]Have you noticed that homes on the internet have started looking a little too perfect? And it's not because people have suddenly become neat. It's due to the fact that people are feeding you AI generated homes and then telling you to buy those products. Well, KA doesn't like that. I really don't like that. I think that if you're going to share home products with people, you should one buy those products, test those products, and live with those products. And two, if you cannot do so, like I myself do, I will say I have not owned this. I've read every single review. and buy your own discretion because I have not intimately touched this product. So, I did what they should have done in the first place. I ordered all of the AI generated home decor and I'm going to actually let you know whether or not it's high quality, whether you should bring it into your home, and whether it is worth your money because you work hard for your money, so you should know that it's going to a good place. Now, I am just going to randomly open these boxes because I think that's going to make this the most authentic. We're going to see the product and then I will show you the render and then we can compare. So, please down in the comments, give your two cents. Rate the renders, rate the comparisons, and let me know what you think. And no, I'm not going to put anybody's details down there. It isn't about one specific person because lots and lots of people are doing this. And frankly, in interior design, right, we create 3D renders of things all the time. Was that not just AI before? I honestly don't know how it was made possible, but I understand that. But I think lulling people into a false sense of security that you own something and can vouch for something when you've never actually seen it and the proportions aren't correct, the lighting is not correct, the texture isn't correct, I think that is bewildering. So, first up, we have this ruffle base. Now, in the description of this listing, it says that it is 7 1/2 in tall, and this is $29. So, of course, if you just took the time to read the listing, you would know that this is small. Is the quality of it fine? I mean, there's already scratches on the bottom of this vase. I do like that it like has a twist to it. It has triations. I do really like this. I'm not sure I personally would pay $29 for this. I think you get something on a larger scale like this from like a Wayfair, a Craton Barrel, something like that. But I'm not inherently mad at it, but when I look at this render, you can see that the person put this relative to a stack of books and relative to a painting. And this painting is over a console, making it seem like this vase is comparable in size to this gigantic lamp. This lamp has to be at least 17 inches tall. This is 7 1/2 in tall. So, while it got the silhouette correct and all that good stuff, this is not scaled correctly. So, you think you're getting a lot more bang for your buck than you're actually getting. I am not going to keep this product. I think it's overpriced for what it is. But in terms of accuracy, I would rate this maybe an 8 out of 10. It looks correct. It is just not scaled appropriately and therefore I think you're wasting money.

[00:02:49]For product number two, we are doing these pillow covers. So, I've seen these pillow covers all over the internet and I do think I've even featured them before. I've said I've seen other people buy them and they're really, really nice, but I did not generate an AI image for you. Now, something I've expressed that I don't love about them is that the design doesn't go onto the back, but the piping is really well done. And you can see at first glance there is a loose fiber, but honestly I think that that happens. You get a set of two for the price. Now I ordered these in the green color way, but in the AI generated image we were fed the burgundy version. So do keep that in mind. But I will say the colors in the burgundy version seem so much more robust than they do in real life. But I will say that in terms of the piping, in terms of the pattern, I think that this is actually a pretty true representation of these pillow covers. So, I am happy to see that that was the case. I would definitely rate this a 9 out of 10 or a 10 out of 10 because I actually think that these are relatively affordable and also it's still Amazon at the end of the day.

[00:03:49]We're not dealing with Pottery Barn or anything like that. So, this was a lucky find. Next up, we have this muslin blanket. Now, I love a muslin texture. I think it's amazing because it's earthy, it's organic, it is breathable. I mean, it's everything that I feel that linen wants to be, but less scratchy. Now, I will say the person who ordered this, the person who shared the shirt, this in a twin, I wanted it in a king because I wanted to use it as a coverlet. But here she is. I think the colors are really lovely. The pattern is on both sides.

[00:04:24]Obviously, it is pretty sheer because it's muslin, but it's exactly what you would expect from muslin. Let's see if this is truly king, though, cuz it doesn't really look like it is. I would say this is queen at best, but of course, I will put it on my bed and demo it for you. But I love the stripes.

[00:04:39]Stripes are such a great tool for making a space feeler or wider or something like that. So, I think that this is phenomenal. So, I'll be honest with you, I quite like this. I would rate this 10 out of 10. I'm definitely going to keep it. But in the AI generated photo, it was a completely different texture. It almost seemed like it was patterned and it looked crinkly. It didn't quite look like muslin. So, I don't think um it really holds up to what I saw online.

[00:05:04]And I would rate this a 6 out of 10. And I would even say that some of the AI generated images of this have fringe on them. This does not have fringe. Next up, we have this marble bowl. So, here it is. It's supposed to be a calaka marble. Let's hold it up to the light. I would say now I'm getting a little old, so let me pull these up. I don't have any readers, so I'm going to shine my flashlight on it. It definitely is a calata. I would say that there's a little bit less purple than was shown online, but it is definitely marble through and through. It has some weight to it, but I don't know, maybe it's not.

[00:05:41]It looks more like brown striations than purple. I see a little bit of purple, but I more see red than purple.

[00:05:49]Obviously, I'll show you close-ups B-roll wise, but as I'm looking at this relative to the AI generated version, the AI generated version has gold trim on the bottom.

[00:06:02]The AI generated version also has so much more veining. I mean like this entire portion right here, there's really no veining. Same thing right here. There's really no veining.

[00:06:16]Obviously, there are variations in natural wood, but when I say that this delivers what was sold to me, no, definitely not. For KA, this is going back to the store. It's not really what I wanted or what I expected. And I believe it was $70, which I think is a pretty penny. I am not made out of money, but if you are, I love that for you. Back to the store. Now, this one I can see through, which is almost cheating, but I don't care. It is this holo tray. It is a really, really pretty bronze color. I am not going to lie to you there. And it has a really nice felt bottom. It's very, very lightweight. And I would say that honestly, the studding is pretty uniform. I am happy with the quality. But let's compare it to the AI image. And the crazy thing about this is these renders are so incredibly realistic. I've fallen for some of these and then gone to look at them like really intently and been like, "Oh, wow.

[00:07:12]This is crazy." So, in this case, this is going to get a 10 out of 10 because the render does look just like the product, and I'm I'm really happy for that. No, no, no, no, hold on, hold on, hold on. No, it does. She was right. But how did she know she was right? She didn't know she was right. But as I'm inspecting this a little bit more closely, I do see some imperfections.

[00:07:36]This is not something I would pay more than $20 for. And I'm not quite sure what I would use it for. Maybe on a coffee table, maybe for some rings or something like that. Her AI generated version though was remarkably similar.

[00:07:47]So that's great. I'm glad that the product ended up being what you were told the product was going to be. Now, this is going to get even crazier because I ordered a massive piece of art because massive art is the number one culprit that I see with this and it drives me bonkers. Now, I know you're probably thinking throughout this video, well, it's unrealistic to expect someone to buy everything. Totally. And again, you can disclose that it's AI. You can say, hey, I've not tried it, but I think these things look really cool. You could just talk about something and say you've read the reviews and disclose that like you yourself have not personally tried it. But also in the world of, you know, content creation or really any career, sometimes you have to spend money to make money. And that's kind of just like part of the thing. I I already know. I already know. This is ludicrous. Okay, girl. Girl. Okay, so this looks like they stole some coral out of the ground.

[00:08:47]So, I'm not too happy about this. This is tiny. Okay, this is supposed to be a match holder and it has the little striker stickers that you can put on the bottom. Okay, fine. Let me tell you how much this was. All right, I was being dramatic. This match holder was only $8.79, which is fine, but first of all, the listing photo doesn't quite look like this. The listing photo makes it look like it's honestly made out of petrified wood. Fine. Okay, the AI generated image makes this vessel look the same size as an 8 oz candle. Does this look like 8 ounces to you? Does this look like a vessel you would use to get well hydrated? No, because it's not accurate at all. And it's going back to the store. This is, I would say, one of the worst ones yet. I would give this I don't know if we were still rating things, maybe a 3 out of 10. This is absolutely ridiculous. And the worst part about it is something like this, the the cost is so low that it would probably cost you more in terms of time or maybe even like the box and the tape and the shipping label to return it back to the store. So, you end up keeping something and then you're just like so disappointed by what you received. Now, next product, something else that's muslin. And this is one that I'm really excited about. So, I hope she wasn't lying to me. This is a muslin duvet cover. I love a good duvet cover. You guys know this. You guys know this. And I'm going even moodier in the next house. I do not care that everyone wants things light and airy. Don't come to my house then. Period. This This is butter.

[00:10:13]It's butter. Okay. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh, that's good. Wait, no. This is a blanket. Oh, no. This is a blanket. Okay. This is not a duvet cover. This is a muslin blanket. Now, this one, I will say, this one looks just like the render. This one looks just like the render. And I'm happy about that. I'm happy. I even remember the render because I was like, I've got to have this. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's giving dementor but make it chic. And I love that for me. So, this is really nice. This does look king-size. So, maybe I was wrong about this thing being a throw. I love this. This is KB approved. If you want muslin, if you want to keep your home moody and dark in the summer, but you don't want to like sweat your ars off in the middle of the night, this is the way to go. I'm very happy with this. I only see like one little loose thread. I like this. I fear it's probably going to peel, so I will keep you updated, but that's a win. 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10.

[00:11:27]I know you effing lying. You know, uh, you know, you know, this is crazy. This is crazy. Okay, look at all of the dirty sediment in that. Okay, it's one of those ruffle bowls. I will say I do love the slope of the ruffle or the slope of the edge because sometimes the slope isn't as sharp so it feels more like a coffee filter and less like a decorative accent. But this is that it doesn't look like marble. It looks like it's a granite which is fine. But when this bowl was shown in the AI generated image, it takes up a third of a coffee table. So you're thinking that this is going to be massive. Now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this does come in many different sizes, but the one that they tagged was this size. I don't hate it, but I also don't love it. This for me is also a sendback.

[00:12:17]It just isn't what I thought I was going to get. If So, back to the store. Oh my god, Whole Foods is going to hate me this week. They're going to hate me this week, but I had to do what I had to do next. Now, I can't try this one in person, but the AI image said that this will turn things into the most amazing, fantastic, wonderful outdoor, what is it called? Bird pond. And so, I'm going to put it into the test because they made it look like you were going to get the RH look for less with this. So, I'm going to take you outside and put it to the test and we'll see. I'm not going to do that right now, but I'm going to do it and I will put in the footage.

[00:13:14]Next up, we have these towels that we have seen all over the internet. And to that I will say, how on earth are you going to tell me if a towel is soft and if it is absorbent if you've only generated an image of it. So, as per everything else in this video, let's give it a try. Now, I've seen these towels a lot on social and I have been influenced to buy them. One of my favorite creators who I think you should follow, her name is Maddie Emma and she does moody organic decor and I would argue she's the best one doing it online right now. and she has recommended these towels. So, I do feel really good about them, but not due to AI imagery. And that is an example of a creator who buys the really, really expensive stuff that no one wants to buy and tries it for us and lets us know if it's good. So, definitely recommend checking her out and I'll put her information up on the screen. Now, first thing I noticed about these towels, these are relatively soft.

[00:14:11]So, I recently did an IKEA video, and you should click here to go check it out if you haven't seen it yet, where I shared their stripe towels. I like these ones a whole lot more. It feels soft, not really any loose fibers. There's one, but on here it says it is a beach towel. A beach towel. Interesting. A beach towel is not the same thing that I would use indoors, right? Um because I normally want something a little bit softer when I am at home. But this is what it looks like. You can see that the coloring kind of fades on the edge. So the pattern is slightly different and it's also slightly misaligned on the edges. And when we look at the AI generated image, the stripes are correct but the edges are not. On the AI generated image, the edge stitching is completely cream whereas here it is still striped and it is misaligned. So the image is misleading. They also let us know that they are absorbent. Okay, if you say so. I'll take a shower and I'll let you know down in the comments if this was truly absorbent. And you know what? Here's the thing. I don't even have any hair. So, if it does not absorb everything I've got going on with no hair, then it really isn't absorbent, is it? But these I'm going to keep. So far, surprisingly, the textiles have been the best items, even though they're the items that are really difficult to assess when just looking online. Next, we have this. This is a faux floral. I love AI faux florals. Okay, so these are already not connected. Neither is this.

[00:15:44]This looks kind of like a lizard. No, like the the pattern and the coloring or whatever. Here's what they look like.

[00:15:50]Okay, they have three flowers per stem.

[00:15:53]Let's look at the AI image. So, in the AI image, there's a little bit more variation in the sizing of these and the stems are a different shape. So, the leaves are a different shape. They're more round as opposed to whatever shape this is. I actually don't know my leaf shapes, but you get a lot of stems in here. I will say that for the price, there are many, many, many stems in this container. You get one 2 3 4 5 6 7 eight stems. And it appears one of them is fully missing all of its heads or something like that. These are not bad.

[00:16:27]There is some variation in the floral.

[00:16:29]So, I think if you put them in a vase that wasn't clear, you could really help to sell this look. The more I'm looking at them, the more that I like them. I will actually keep these, but the stems or the leaves are not representative of what we see in this AI image, which is really, really disheartening to me. Now, there are a few other ones I can talk about because I already own the products and I can let you know. So, next up, we have this bust sculpture. You've seen this bus sculpture in my home. It is the same size as my bust right here. It looks like an itty bitty little bus that can fit on your coffee table. It can fit on your coffee table if you have nothing else on your coffee table or if you don't want to be able to see the TV or if you don't want to be able to see anything else. Next up, this one.

[00:17:08]Really, this is actually what inspired me to make this video is this candalabra. You've seen this candalabra so many times here on my channel. It is a cantal lever candalabra and it takes up a massive amount of space. It is so difficult to style with. Right here, it looks so small that you could pair it with like 50 different things. 50 was dramatic. You could pair it with like three or five more things. That's how it makes it seem. But this is very much so a standalone item. Now, there is no better way to round out today's video than with a gigantic art piece because again, this is where I feel like people are the most misleading. So, we're going to put it to the test right now. She's massive, but is she representative of what we saw online? And I want you guys to know this particular purchase caused a lot of family drama, especially since we are moving because that means I bought something ginormous for a house that I'm not going to live in for much longer.

[00:18:02]But I had to settle this once and for all. When you flip it over, this is what we see in the online listing. This piece of art has a light oak frame. I would say that in real life it's more of a honey oak. In this picture, it also looks like there is so much texture. And again, you're gonna be like, well, how can you tell that? Well, they put it up against a lime wash wall. So, if the art is giving articulating the same amount of texture as the wall, I can only think that they are insinuating that this piece of art have texture. Again, I'm not opening the plastic because this is going right back. This is a piece of junk. Absolute junk. I would go to HomeGoods first. I'd go to TJ Maxx. I'd go to Wayfair. I'd go on Etsy. I'd go many, many, many different places before I bought this particular line of art.

[00:18:44]Again, it looks like there's texture, but there's absolutely not. You can see that it was printed on. I think this is a piece you'd get tired of really, really quickly the more and more you looked at it. I am not pleased. But that's it for today's video. [00:18:59]I would say all in all that the textiles were pretty good, which is shocking, and everything else was pretty meh, especially when it came to the natural materials. If you're shopping, I would encourage you to shop people who actually buy product or disclose that they're using AI to share a product with you.
