Taking a bite out of it追加:
Hey, how's it going? Welcome back to the channel. Today's puzzle which is called Spider Bite by Not Very Neat. I can definitely see a little spider picture in here. I kind of like that. I don't know what it is about puzzles that have a little bit of a graphical uh interest to them are always kind of cool looking to me. So anyway, uh call it Spiderb. Let's see what the rules are because only a couple of rule sets to work with here. So normal sudoku every row, column and 3x3 box will contain the digits 1 through nine once each. We've got regions some lines. So all of these lines are regions some lines. Box borders divide blue lines into segments with the same sum. This sum may be different of different lines. So the segments of these will be or could be different than anything else. But these two digits because they are on this line and in one region will add to some value. these four digits because they're on the same line but in a different region will add to the same value and so on and so forth. And then we have crop keys. So digits separate by a white dot are consecutive and not all dots are necessarily given. So any place we have a white dot those two digits will be consecutive. That's it. So with that said, let's just dive into this one.
Have some fun. Links in the description below. Let's get at it. All right. So where are we starting? And do we have any singular U?
Okay, so we have a So the first thing I always look for for region so long as we have like a singular cell on a line in a region cuz it starts to restrict it usually. So we have three of these that have to be the same value as this. This has to at least be 6, 7, 8, or 9.
And the the way this works is interesting, right? Cuz no matter what this is, this has to be less than it because I'm not putting a six here and a seven here and then a negative one to make the six. So what that invariably says is this is a one. Cuz if you put a nine here with an eight, you have to put a one. Put an eight here with a seven, you got to put a one, etc., etc. You're a one.
All right. Now, I guess this could be anything still because we still have to go to nine. Oh, but these two digits have to be consecutive. Every set of consecutive digits adds to an odd digit.
1 2 3 4. Go through them all if you want to. This cannot be even. Six and eight are out.
Now, that means you have to either be six or eight. And you have to either be a three, four to be seven or the four, five to make nine. So, you always have a four on you.
That's something.
Again, we still don't know what this is because it could still be a seven with a one two four where you're the one, you're a two four or a nine with a 2 3 4 or a 126 or a 135 or whatever. We don't know yet.
Now, what does that one do to this though? 2 3 4 5.
So, we're at 14 minimum, huh? I guess.
Well, let's start putting those in. 9 87 six and five we have to have a minimum of 14. So those are all the digits we could possibly because the most we can ever put here would be two three four five. Now is there some restrictions to these crop keys that are staring back over the line?
Like can I ever put a nine here? I think the answer is no. Right? So if I put a nine here I have to put an eight here.
Right? Plus a minimum of 2 3 4 which is nine.
No, maybe that will work because that would be 17.
Oh, no. It won't work. Okay, because of the tail end.
If I try to put a nine here, I have to put an eight here. The minimum I could put here is 2 3 4 which is 9, which would be 17.
Okay. Well, you can just say, well, I could put a 98 here as well. No, you can't cuz this is from 2 3 or four.
Can't get up to anything higher than a five. So, you can never make that. So, these are not nines cuz the same thing would occur either way. Now, can you be eights?
Cuz this again, it can't be a nine. It'd be a minimum 2 3 4 that' be 9 + 9 18.
That's right off the board right there.
Could you go down to a seven? Be a seven with a 2 3 4 be.
Then we have the same problem with the 2 3 4 on the back end. Yeah. Can't do it.
Can't put an eight because you'd have to put a seven. You'd have to put a 2 3 4 as a minimum. We're at 16.
We can't make 16 out of these. Well, we could with a 98, but then the eight can't tie into that 2 3 4. So, these again are not eights.
Okay.
Now, that's going to start reducing these two, right? Because we said minimum 14. So, we can't now put a five or a six in either of those two positions.
And now what's the maximum we can Oh, wait.
We can't put nines, eights, or sevens on this, can we?
I We were thinking about it from the dot perspective. I wonder if there's anything if it can float one.
So, if we put a seven here, we're looking at a 234 minimum. Again, that's 16. Yeah, there's no way to make that work. Okay, so nines, eights, and sevens can't go on here. So, there has to be a nine and a seven over here, which means you're an eight.
Now, that means you can't be a five.
Now, we still have the possibility of 14 or 15, though.
So, what does that do for us?
I guess that means this has to be from 2, three, four, and five, right? Or no, 2, three, four, five, and six.
Or we Yeah. And again, we can just go back to the thought process that we can't ever put an eight on this. So where does an eight go in the region? It goes here.
So this has to Didn't mean to click those. These have to be from 2 3 4 5 and six. The six says you can't be 2 3 or four. The five sixes you can't be two or three.
We know there's sevens and nines here.
Oh, we know this is a nine now. So, this becomes nine, which means these are a four or five pair.
Good.
And this oopsie, this nine again, we still don't quite know. It could be a 126 or a 234 or a 1 35. Excuse me. Obviously, these can't be ones. Probably a bad idea to put all these in digits in here like this.
Sevens and nines. No nines. No nines.
There's got to be a way to figure this out, right?
If I put a six here, this has to be 2, three, four, five. Because again, we know there's twos, threes, and fours.
The other digit is just five or six.
If we put the six, you are 2 3 4 5 3 4 5. You would still be five or six, but you could be a couple of things, I guess. Huh. I guess that doesn't really I can't I don't think I can determine how those work just yet.
Okay.
Do we have anything down here?
One, two, two, three. Can't be 3 4 5 6 7. Okay. So, it has ones, twos, and threes in it. So, I guess it has to have a two. Don't know if I like that. What about this? Cuz this is kind of restricted now, isn't it? Cuz we can't use nines or eights. H. So, the most this can ever be is a 76, but it can't be a 76.
So, the technically the most it could ever be is a 75.
If the most it can be is a 75, that is 12. What's the bare minimum of this?
1 2 It's 12 cuz what can't this be?
Excuse me. Can't use four or five. So it's 1 2 3 6 is the minimum. That is 12.
The most we can put here is 12. This has to be 12. 1 2 3 6.
You have to be 12. It has to be 75. So therefore, you do have to be the six, which means you have to be the five. You do not have fives or sixes on you anymore. So you will be the four.
You are a 2, three. You are a 679.
Okay.
Four, five, five, and seven. Do we go over here? Do we go over here? Oh, the four says you are five. We have to get to 14. So that means you are nine. Okay.
So you're not nine.
Can't put a five in here anymore.
So again, it's either one. Now it's 1 2 6 or 1 or 2 3 4. But the five says four or five. That means you can't be 1 2 or three.
So 2 3 4 or 1 2 6.
So there has to be a two, right? Cuz this being four or six I did that right. Right. Wait, why did I do that? Why do I think there was a crop key there? I have no idea. What am I doing? Losing my mind is what I'm doing.
I don't know where that came from. Let's go over to you. For some reason, I I I superimposed this I think this crop key or this crop key onto this digit right here. That was not the case. Goodness gracious, my brain still doesn't work properly.
12. You have to at least add to 12.
Can't use a nine. So 8, four, 7, six, and five. Can't put a five. What can you be? You can't be one or two. You can't be six or eight.
So four or seven to get us to 12, which means you can't be a six. You can't be a seven.
You just have to be an eight. Because if we were going to do 12, we'd have to do 75. So you are 48.
Okay. 84. You are three.
You can't be fours anymore. So you are the one two six.
So this is the one. That's a two six.
You are the three and the two.
You can't be a six.
Okay. What are these stages? Threes and sevens. So we can do that. Seven. Three.
You are not threes anymore. So you are a one two six. You are not one.
Uh, the five seven says you are a six. 2 1 which will give us the two and the six. Okay. Six could still go with five or seven. What are these?
And we can maybe get over to here too.
Uh 1 2 4 5 6 7 8 9 and you're nine.
So you can't be 7 8 or 9. So you are five or six which means you're not 5 6 or 7. So you will be eight or nine. Oh, the seven eight just says you are five seven which gives us the six which means you are the eight. Okay, good. Um the three here says this is a one two pair and you will be a seven.
Do we know what the rest of these are?
Yeah, there has to be a two here by Sudoku. Has to be a three here by Sudoku. has to be a four and a to do one. So, you will be the four. You will be the one. Let's go over to here now because we may be able to get on to this. Okay. You are five and nine.
You are three and four.
The six here also says you have to either be five or seven. You can't be seven. You're five.
Which means you have to be four or six.
And you can't be six. You are four.
12 48.
Good. Let's put these in. We also have this I can do in a second. I can see what that is. But these have to be 1 and five.
These have to be seven and nine. These have to be 2, three, and six. All right, let's go back to this. These are a single cell region some lines across a border. So they have to be the same digit. Can't be four. So they're both threes. You are a four.
This has to be the same thing, but it can't be the five. It's the one. You're the five.
Three says you can't be three. All right. Do we go up or do we go over?
Let's go over cuz I have a crop key here. I could work with ones. Where do ones go? Right there. No, just you. These have to be from sevens, eights, and nines. So, there will be an eight. So, you have to be the 78. It'll come back and say you're the 8 9.
Let's put these in. And then again, it will cut across. Uh 3 4 7. You have to be seven. You're not 2 five and six.
You can't be five. That's a two six pair. You're a nine. Good. Went the right way. So that'll be 59. Now we're starting to push this. Let's go over here now.
two six sevens and nines. Neither of you can be nine. You can't be six or seven.
And this has to either be 10 or 11.
How can this be 6 or 7?
Can't make 10 or 11 from either one of those. So you are two, which means you are nine, which means you also have to be a two. You can't be two. You can't be nine. So that's a 6 seven pair. Guess that means you're nine.
Good. What are these three? Good. That's going to tell us what this is cuz that'll break you open. These have to be from four, five, and seven. Well, guess what? You can't be seven anymore. You're 6 7 6. You can't be four. You can't be five. You can't be five or seven. You are four. 7. Five. That's a one, by the way. Just fill it in. We need one three.
Three goes here. One goes here. Eight goes there. This is a given of two.
No. Two. No. Two. What are these?
4 and six. I think 4 six and 78. Okay.
Probably need to work on you then because that seems to be the only thing left over. Unless there is just a row or a column that's got a given.
I don't see anything right away. So, these have to either add to 9 or 10, which means you can't be a six, but you can still be two or three though. Is there some correlation between what I put in one of these two and how it coordinates with these? Like, if I put a nine here, you're a seven, you're an eight, you'd be a two.
If I put an eight here, you're a nine.
Oh no, that won't work. Okay, there it was.
Think about from this perspective. What if happens if I put a nine here? I also have to put a nine here because of the seven n pair. Well, 9 and 1 is 10. How do you make 9 and 2 or 3 out of 10? You can't. You're eight. So, you're nine, which means you're seven and nine. If that's nine, you have to be the two.
Six, three, four, three, two, not five or two. So, 65 and then four, six, and seven and eight.
There we go. Okay, cool. Solve the puzzle. Solution is correct. Uh, 200 solves and about a day and a half. Not bad. Um, didn't expect it to be too difficult. Um, love the interaction with this thing though. very good uh logic in how all these things started to unfold.
I think once you once I got through this kind of square in the concept of how it was getting to start, then it started to set off every little thing. So, little spider bites, if you will, of ways that things started to propagate itself down the line. So, good puzzle. Really enjoyed that one. Hope you all did as well. And we'll see you in the next one.
Thanks a lot.
