AB 1743 Could Put Gun Owner Information in the Hands of Minors本站添加:
We're kind of in this legislative session where we're we're looking at not too many bills that are going to have any fiscal impact. As for this one, no state mandated local program, seemingly not very much money that would go into creating a bill like this.
Is this kind of a situation where this is something that we want to do and now's a good time to do it because there's little fiscal impact?
>> Well, that's what they're claiming.
We're trying to to to claim differently.
This bill is a fast-tracked bill and and we need to realize that. It only had to go through one committee in the assembly.
That was public safety. Now it goes to appropriations. But appropriations, the way it's worded, will probably get a rubber stamp.
We're not going to be able to stop it there. So, we're going to have to fight this hard in the Senate. But I want to back up. This bill is exactly designed to hurt every firearms owner. And anybody who thinks otherwise is just you know, putting their head in the sand because this bill is designed to expose you, to make it so if there's people in your neighborhood that don't like gun owners, they can find out because you're literally talking, Kevin, that the people that are going to have access to this may not even be 18. It could be 16-year-olds that are going to college, you know, the community college to get ahead because they want you know, don't want to spend as much time in their four-year degree and they're they're overachievers. And a lot of those overachieving kids, I I'm not trying to be mean, but they have been brainwashed by the system to see us as the enemy.
And so, they're going to feel very patriotic and getting involved in this.
And and think about it. This is a state that can't decide when you're an adult and when you're a kid. I mean, I listen to it all the time. And so, I hear all these arguments of when it comes to firearms, oh, until you're 26, your brain's not formed properly to own one.
But oh, when you're 10 or 12, you can make all the decisions in your life about your health, about your politics, about everything else. And so, you got to think about that. Do you trust a kid who's a junior high or in high school with vital information not to weaponize it. I don't. Yeah, I would have a hard time I would have a hard time disagreeing with that for sure.
>> argument I would throw in it is you know this legislature loves loves loves to compare a right in the second amendment to privileges like driving a car. Yeah, tell me when the last time a community college student had access to the DMV records.
