The fire sale of Discovery’s sets is a fittingly cheap end for a series that prioritized superficial optics over narrative substance. RedLetterMedia’s critique perfectly captures the inevitable collapse of a legacy franchise hollowed out by corporate mediocrity.

Star Trek FIRE SALE! RedLetterMedia Brutally Roasts Starfleet Academy Auction Disaster!Added:
Guess what's back in the news again today? Starfleet Academy has returned because the sets are being sold at auction rather cheap, too. At least as of now. Maybe that'll change. Maybe some big fan with a deep pockets will come in and buy the series, but I don't think that that's gonna happen. I'm pretty sure that the sets are going to sell for very low numbers. And as of right now, the guys over at Red Letter Media are talking about picking up the set, which I find absolutely funny because they could do some funny stuff with it. Maybe create their own Starfleet Academy episodes. I don't know if they'll go that far, but that's what's happening.
And the beautiful thing about this is it should crush the dreams of anybody that thinks that that piece of is ever going to come back.
In fact, it ends with a fire sale. As Gizmodo puts it right here, it's going to sell to the highest paying fans somehow.
I doubt it. I doubt anybody's going to come in and drop $10,000 on Starfleet Academy dress uniforms or even for Discovery. I guess there's some Discovery stuff in here. Who the hell wants that Probably nobody with any money with disposable money to buy it. They're trying to say that these are going to go for $10,000 a piece. Doubt it. Who wants that? Now, maybe like some OG Star Trek stuff or Deep Space 9. And hell, even Voyager, I could see that stuff going for $10,000 a piece. But this nobody watched it. Nobody cares about it other than some weirdos that maybe talk about it at Starbucks who don't even talk about the plot. They're just so happy that there's a gay clling on or some But check this out. You had the guys from Red Letter Media dunking on this, which I thought was absolutely hilarious.
So, from Phantom Pulse, Paramount is liquidating new Trek Discovery costumes and Starfleet Academy props now at auction. And I went and looked at this stuff. It's a lot of just junk like specimen trays and stuff like that.
Like, who wants that But they're trying to sell this stuff for some They're thinking they're going to make bring in big money. I don't think that's going to happen.
So, it's on this site I've never heard of.
Never heard of this auction site. I don't know why they wouldn't put it on Heritage Auction, which is what a lot of companies, maybe Heritage was like, "We don't want this broken We don't want your trash on our website. We put real up in here."
No. So, they're on some other some new site I've never heard of. And here's what we've got. As of this article, nobody bid on the Turbo Lift setpiece.
Nobody wants the Starfleet Academy turbo bid or turbo lift set. Look at this. The bid starts at $10,000. That's insane.
Who wants this Who's going to spend $10,000? You're an idiot. Like, I couldn't look at you if you're rich.
Like, I would question your your money, like your habits with your money. Like, will you remain rich if you're buying a piece of turbo lit from this trash show nobody's gonna remember. But what was funny was uh Mike coming in here, some of the stuff $5, right?
Uh so he says, "For the low low price of zero through $5, we might buy and recreate all the sets from Starfleet Academy." So for $5, you can get this MRI prop. Why would they be using MRIs still in the distant future? Do they need MRI machines still?
I don't ever remember them using that kind of stuff in good Star Trek.
So, you know, maybe I'm wrong. Did they have MRI machines in TNG and stuff? It seems like they would have looked at this kind of stuff as caveman technology, but maybe I'm wrong. So, yeah, it'd be really funny if they bought this and did something with it. And, you know, they could afford it.
Hell, I could afford it for $6. We'll see if anybody actually comes in and buys his garbage.
But, you know, aside from this, another funny thing that happened is the Starfleet Academy actor apparently who plays the gay Cllingon was lashing out at fans, not happy that people are making fun of this dumb show. and the fact that the only reason that they had this Klingon in there was so that they could introduce polyamorous polyamorous gay Klingons, you know, because that's that's definitely what the Klingan Empire has always needed. Even though it's not even an empire anymore. It's like a they're like a nomadic species or something.
This show sucks so much ass more than this more than this Cllingon character.
It's the only reason that they they put this character in there and gave him that like they know what they're doing.
They gave him like this super hyper masculine voice where he's like, "I'm I am Jaden."
And then he's just running around blowing everybody at the academy. He also, by the way, is a pacifist. So stupid. This show deserved all the mocking that it got. It really did.
So, he's mad because people were criticizing his character and talking about how much his character was sucks and was terrible. And, you know, of course, it's always the same Oh, they just they just don't want to see it because it's gay.
It's there's always been progressive stuff in Star Trek and he says this in here, but the difference was is better written. The character wouldn't have existed just because he's gay in the original Trek. it he would have existed because he had to do and a plot that was worth that was worth exploring like a story that would make the plot better. Uh this character existed just to be gay and to destroy cling on stereotypes and narratives that have been set before. That's the only reason that Jay did and by the way that's a stupid name ever existed in this show.
But no, this is what he had to say. Uh, the show is intentionally a middle finger towards those who are not interested in identity politics. Well, that was we could tell right away. Uh, identity politics was definitely what the show was all about and that's why it sucked ass.
I'm going to hold your hand when I say this. Star Trek has always been woke.
And that is the alternative. And what is the alternative to being woke? Sleep.
Cuz I'm not tired being a part of this franchise is honestly has honestly felt like putting up a big middle finger to every racist, homophobic, and sexist idea that tries to limit who gets to belong in the future. Even if we only had one season to share that message, I'll be proud. We don't. We have two full seasons. 20 hours of telling people, "Hey, you you belong here." And that is something to celebrate. Is this attitude from the cast and crew while the show is failing? Yeah. So, that's right. There's going to be a whole another season. I'm not watching it this time. I'm done. Uh, we will report on the fact that it's just not making any ratings because I guarantee you no one tunes in for this Just like they didn't tune in for any of the other Star Trek shows that come out under Curtsman.
Uh, but of course, you know, it's a middle finger. And since what's going to be really funny is interviews with this cast next season because they know they're not getting a second season. So, they're going to be even more hostile.
But thanks for admitting everything that we knew that this was going to be and was right here saying it's a middle finger.
Yeah, Star Trek has always been pretty progressive for sure. Definitely agree.
However, it also told good stories and was pretty intellectual at times. A lot of philosophical discussions. Uh, this show has none of that New Star Trek has none of that.
It's dumb down tick- tock trash is what it is.
That's not Star Trek.
And any of these idiots that like this stuff, I guarantee you they would go back and they would scuff at old Star Trek. They call it boring.
My favorite my favorite example of that is when Redletter Media talks about the season finales of one of the new Trek series and Voyager season 1's finale and how Voyager season 1 finale was about the air ducts being bad or some and the new one being this big giant space battle. They just don't get it at all. So, you know, let the series rest for a while. Hopefully, they can bring it back with somebody that knows what the hell they're doing and maybe we can get some good Star Trek again. That would be great. That'd be great. Anyway, I I'm enjoying the fire sale of this and its downfall because I think it's a joke and I want Star Trek to either get somebody that knows what they're doing or to just go away.
Go away because the older stuff will probably never be top number one. I I don't know what you do there. Maybe if you bring in somebody that's good, but I just don't think that's going to happen.
They they want it to be accessible to a new audience, which means they're just going to bring in somebody that probably does the same Anyway, that's pretty much it. Let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments. Also, if you would, please like, subscribe, share the video, hit that notification bell. We'll see you on the next one. Peace.
