We Found a Shop’s $14,000 Screw-Up Inside This Dozer

[00:00:44]Uh is there an inner or outer to that?

[00:00:50]Those bearings This bearing cage has been rubbing something. Oh, that seal's torn up. The inner seal's torn up. I don't think we did that. It's pushed back this way.

[00:01:07]>> And that shaft's been wallowing around in there.

[00:01:11]Chewed all the way up in there.

[00:01:12]>> So, what's this snap ring do? What's all going on in here?

[00:01:19]Got the breakdown the book. We got the sun shaft right here. We've got two bearings in the middle with two races. Same thing over here in the uh parts book area. We've got two bearings and two races. We just want to be sure ourselves, too.

[00:01:36]>> Somebody put that final drive together with only one bearing in it.

[00:01:41]So, here's the other final drive.

[00:01:42]Tucker's got a welder he's going to pull a race out. But, guess what was on this shaft, Kevin?

[00:01:47]>> Two bearings. It takes up that space equally.

[00:01:51]One sits one way and one sits the other.

[00:01:53]So, they're both Take that off.

[00:01:57]They both sit like that in there, so the shaft can't go in or out. Isn't that funny?

[00:02:00]>> That's not a very nice thing to do, so.

[00:02:02]>> So, that one's in there like that. That one's pointed this way. So, those guys only put one bearing in here and you get And people are probably going to say, "Well, it ground it up and ate it up."

[00:02:10]Well, let me tell you something. The only thing that would come apart would be these little balls, and they'd be laying in the case.

[00:02:16]We'd still see remnants of this.

[00:02:18]We didn't see any extra metal. We just had a fine ground up stuff. That bearing was never put in there. I guarantee it, so.

[00:02:25]>> And when they only put that one bearing in there, the other case is sitting over like ground this case into so much that it almost ground through the holes and ruined that part, so.

[00:02:34]The bad part is that guy paid them $14,000. This is not a Deere dealer, but it's another, I guess, independent shop kind of like ours, but not definitely not like ours.

[00:02:47]And they totally screwed it up. I mean, they had to order parts. The parts book even shows two bearings there. I mean, it's plain day. I mean, you can't have You can't have one of these tapered bearings on this shaft. It's just going to go wherever it wants. This is a very very costly mistake by another shop that could have been avoided whatsoever. They just fixed it right, this dozer would have never been here whatsoever, so.
