This lesson demonstrates how two guitar solos in Bruce Springsteen's 'Two Faces' create harmony by playing the same notes in different octaves, with the first solo starting from the 6th fret G string and the second solo an octave higher, both using similar rhythmic patterns including triplets, hammer-ons, and bends to create a layered, cohesive sound.

Two Faces guitar solos lesson
Added:[Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so let's take a look at the guitar solos for two phases now you just listen to those two walkthroughs there's actually two guitar solos that are actually playing on top of each other and creating a harmony it sounds really cool so it's go through the first one so again this is in a major and what we're going to do is start from the sixth fret of the g string on the end of force is one two three four and and then what you're doing is a small grace note hammer on from the sixth note to the seventh sixth fret the seventh fret g string there's one two three four and one two four nessam triplets here two on the seventh fret triplet crotchets on the seventh fret g string it's one two three four and one two three that's sort of really that's a one two three four and then you've got some another set of triplet crotchet or quarter notes the next bar on your going seven [Music] and then 9th fret on the yang Bruce might be playing it at different parts of the neck but these are still that's pretty much the same note so it will still work really well okay it's that last bar was 760 g7 the d9 on the end okay so those some first few bits one two three four and one two three [Music] okay and then you've got the ninth fret a string 7th fret D 11th fret D that's triplets quarter notes again and there you go to the ninth fret of the D string so 9a 1711 d9 do and then 12 fret I'll be able to the bar that bar goes my little finger on the twelfth fret of the a string the next bar is really straight for its just crotchets the quarter notes it's nine eleven nine and the G and then eleven nine on the day so one two an X bar is crotchets as well 1211 nine Dean string and then 12 fret a string with last two bars some G and the D and then twelve eleven nine in the D 12 fret hey and then and then fret Dean string is for the next bar and put a little bit of a broto on there it rings for the whole bar cool and then what happens is on the end of two of the next bar you're gonna do this I'm doing its alternate as well sir down down so this is the ninth fret g string and these are quavers on the it starts on the end of two two one two and three and four is the 11th fret g string one two and three and I think it's really slow Bend from the ninth fret this is kind of kind of like two bars a really slow Bend and the ninth fret D string kind of like that bit fiddly but it sounds really cool again very simple but really effective so what I'll do is I'll play that first solo through nice and slowly so one two three four and one two three seven seven seven six seven nine nine seven eleven nine twelve eleven nine eleven nine twelve eleven twelve eleven three four one two nine nine nine nine eleven nine it's really cool not too complicated it sounds really nice ok so now what we'll do is take a look at the second guitar which is quite clear on the record it sounds really cool though away just sort of sinks together this is basically just playing a lot of the notes in the same sort position but just an octave higher that some of them are harmonies as well so what you're gonna do again rhythm is all the same really apart from one of the bars so you're doing the same timing just slightly different notes ok so they're starting a fourteenth fret B string with one two three four and one two three fifteen fifteen okay so a fourteenth fret B and then you've got that ham grace note hammer on from the 14 to the 15th fret breeze it's one two three four and one two three fifteen 15 and then fifteen fourteen on the B fourteen on the T 16 and the and then I'm going 16 D 14 G 14 B 16 G at the end of the bar 14 G okay so those of first part of that second solo goes like this 1 2 3 4 & 1 2 3 15 15 15 14 14 16 what okay so it's all the same sort of rhythm and notes is the other one just a higher up and now you're going to do fourteen twelve fourteen twelve so on the E and the B string so fourteen twelve is a project and then 15 15 14 on the be 16 and the g17 on on the D that's the one note I'm like oh is that right it's kind of trying to work out what that note is it's just this one logos kind of puzzling me a little bit but it doesn't sound like it matches on the record slightly I think it's also done to greater that a little bit of tension as well so 1540 on the B 16 on the g17 on the D and then 14 on the G court now like the other one the others the first solo on that kind of penultimate bar kind of before that long Bend you've got one two and three and where's this harmony part comes in on the start of beats three six one two three and four and on the 16th fret and then the 14th fret of the G so it's one two three and four so again you can hear on that that second walkthrough that I did that that bit sounds really cool because well the guitars comes in half of eat later which is this second guitar solo and then the bend instead of doing that Bend on the ninth fret D go do the 16th fret G getting nice and controlled and gradually building that bend up over two bars so what I'll do is I'll play that second solo through nice and slow so 1 2 3 4 so 14 15 15 15 15 15 14 14 16 sixteen fourteen fourteen sixteen fourteen thirteen twelve fourteen twelve fifteen fourteen sixteen seventeen fourteen one two then 16 16 16 14 16 nice slow Bend cool so again I think it's a great song two-face is one of my favorites from a ton of love and it's a really cool effective guitar solo no crazy stuff going on but it sounds really cool especially when those two parts are played together so okay thanks very much for watching patrons and I'll see you on the next video bye
