Human faces can be mathematically represented as a combination of an average face plus weighted eigenfaces, where 50-150 eigenfaces (out of 65,536 possible dimensions in a 256×256 image) are sufficient for face recognition, reducing dimensions by over 400 times; this same mathematical principle of dimensionality reduction now powers LoRA for fine-tuning billion-parameter AI models.

Your Face Is Just a Math Recipe #shortsAdded:
What if every human face could be written as a math formula?
Start with the average face, a flat gray. Add Eigenface one, a contrast pattern. It adds structure. Add Eigenface two, three. Each one adds detail. The formula, face equals mean plus weighted Eigenfaces. Every face is a recipe.
A 256 by 256 image has 65,536 dimensions, but just 50 to 150 Eigenfaces are enough for recognition, over 400 times fewer dimensions.
Turk and Pentland discovered Eigenfaces in 1991. Today, the same math powers Laura, fine-tuning billion parameter AI models with low-rank matrices. Full video on my channel.
