Small sins, if left unchecked, will spread and grow like an untreated disease, gradually controlling one's heart, corrupting thoughts, and distancing a person from God; what was once considered wrong eventually becomes normalized, and the world is filled with spreading influences such as hatred, slander, deception, and love for the world, causing many to become spiritually cold and less sensitive to God's voice, which is why Jesus calls us to remain vigilant and guard our hearts daily, using God's Word and prayer as a defense against evil.
