[00:00:23]to we have to fix that up and then we are fine we are moving but he kept his word he reached over here 5 minutes only though 15 minutes it was to fix up but still he came here so and when I looked at him when he was talking the some young resemblance of our President Obama didn't like that he's a very smart guy and he was speaking like that. He kept his word. We reached over here and everything was all right. So unless the soul is within us, this body has no value. Then I told them this is our upanishad says in the kottoishad and Hindus always go with the symbolism this body is actually the chariot but people won't be able to take that so what they do they made outside a wooden chariot or iron made chariot sharam ratami neighbor that this body is the chariot but atma is the rati the god inside is the real one unless the god is inside the consciousness is inside nothing is happening this body has no value the chariot has no value without god and all the horses that you saw these are all our sense organs the five sense organs And the mana is the rain. Buddhi the intellect is the charioteer is holding those rain and then driving the chariot.

[00:06:14]If you can understand that this is ghana. What is ghana? Atman is that jagan nad. He is inside and all other things external.

[00:06:29]Similarly the chariot that you see through devotion we go to Ghana through Ghana we reach to the same goal where our devotion also take last uh week we talked about the devotion that how to reach to God through devotion and this week how to reach through Ghana.

[00:06:52]The devotion is the chariot, the festival, the song, the dances, the worship. But what it indicates?

[00:07:01]If we can understand that indication, we get to the Ghana. We go through the Ghana.

[00:07:09]Without knowledge, devotion cannot take you there. This only emotion.

[00:07:16]Only emotion won't be able to help you to reach to the goal. So you need the knowledge also.

[00:07:22]And this knowledge will tell you what is this chariot this body and inside the body the consciousness that is the jagernad and jaganata is not having any hands because just wishes and everything is done.

[00:07:42]The god wishes let there be light. There was light in the Bible. It says the the moment the God wishes everything is done. So God doesn't need any hands and God has no leg because it is already present everywhere that never moves. It is always here and it is also all the time present over there. It is there outside and it is here near inside outside everywhere is inside every being and again outside also.

[00:08:33]So through emotion, through devotion, through bacti, if we take the knowledge, we reach to that ultimate goal whom we call God or Atman or Brahman. So who is Brahman?

[00:08:49]our soul and yesterday after the talk one young man came and that was the time for the dinner everybody in the line and they were thinking where to make a seat for me then he came and told I have a question you because I I told them you have to shout otherwise I can't listen so you know the Indians they love to talk the moment you give the opportunity they'll be talking to each other not knowing anything but they'll And that's why the commotion was going on.

[00:09:23]Then he was asking you told that Brahman is within me and Brahman is outside.

[00:09:31]How go? Because Brahman is outside, Brahman is with me. Then how it is possible?

[00:09:38]I told some other time we'll give you the answer. Brahman is everywhere. Means where? What? I am also within that. But you know how it goes. That is a very interesting question he asked.

[00:09:53]It is like the Brahman as a son reflecting everywhere.

[00:10:00]Everywhere is a reflection not the original. So always they say that atman is the reflection of the paramha. What is the atman? That is the consciousness.

[00:10:15]is a reflection of the consciousness on our intellect.

[00:10:20]So that is the reason if one reflection breaks nothing happens. Reflection only.

[00:10:30]If the hundreds of that breaks nothing happen. Original is always there unchanging eternal.

[00:10:38]What we make the mistake? We take that reflection as real and then we think oh what will happen if I die and that is called maya. So friends we will discuss that today how to reach to that Brahman to that supreme knowledge through ghana. So let us offer our pronam to our the supreme the teacher the guru and then we'll start this. Please repeat after me.

[00:11:33]A macho nama. Mahn and there is a concept in the Ghana the highest knowledge and that they say we are not born at All no jayati no one has taken birth nothing that you see is different the naturally what is it how can you say that shankara's guru's guru the guru that he said the you are not born at all that is the supreme hinduism ultimate Hinduism how it is possible the argument is you say that it is a wooden table.

[00:12:52]I say but what which one is table?

[00:12:56]This top I see it is wood. The side I say it is wood. The bottom I see it is wood.

[00:13:07]How can you say table? Where is the table?

[00:13:10]Why you are identifying it as a table?

[00:13:15]But it is only wood.

[00:13:17]When you touch a human, you see this is the head, this is the leg, this is the hands, this is the back, this is the front. But I see a human only.

[00:13:30]Obviously, why you are differentiating?

[00:13:35]There's a beautiful story. There's a very naughty child. She was playing all through and the father was concentrating on something. He is as an architect. So was drawing a building and to stop the baby the child what to do. Then there was a map Indian map was there the torn in four five pieces. He like I taught you how to read the map right? Yes I know. Take this and make the map complete and come back to me. He thought it will take the whole day for him.

[00:14:15]He said what is this? How could you do it? We didn't know I don't know map actually but at the back of it there is a human body and the back side of the map was a human body. I know human. So hands, leg, head. So I just place like that. It became all right.

[00:14:36]like that. If you know one person, you know God. You know yourself, you know God. You need not to go for the whole Indian map.

[00:14:48]If you know yourself, you know what is Brahman atmani.

[00:14:56]That is why they say we go on knowing everything.

[00:15:00]What is this son? What is this star?

[00:15:02]What is this atman? What is this Brahman? They say no you need not to bother about all those just know yourself who are you and when they ask it ultimate knowledge they will say what is the ja in the Bhagabad Gita it says from me only the ja has come ja means individual being they have come out of me who is this me the supreme god If it is coming out of the supreme god then we are also gods because out of that we have been created isn't it and if they say that out of sugar these sweets have been created it is a sweet only sugar only in a different form that's all otherwise it is all sugar so maya satyam ghanam anantam and that is in panchadashi also it says This is Brahma.

[00:16:08]Satyam Ganam anam.

[00:16:12]Satyam is eternal. It never changes.

[00:16:16]Ganam it is knowledge eternal. And anam is impossible to measure. Ananda it is eternal everywhere all pervasive. That is the Brahma lakshana. According to the panchadashi is a very famous book of advant how we will know that we are also the same we are limited our knowledge is also limited and we are going to die we have seen in our family the grand parents they passed away the our my parents also passed away the like that we have seen the death and I know that I'm also going to die. I know all my friends are also going to die someday. So obviously we how can we say that this is an this is eternal all pervasive we live in one place only.

[00:17:15]They say if you are looking at that you are looking wrongly that is not the way you should see. If you see the things in actual then you will find how we don't like to die. We think that we are dying but this is also true. We don't like to die. No one I was telling the other day yesterday even an ant also don't like to die. If you like to tell aunt hey it is a very worthless life that you are living so I will give you mti then you better go and have better life and say no I'm fine you better go somewhere else you need not to kill me so ant also like to leave ant's life it is satisfied with that everyone wants to leave why because our creator is eternal that proves Our creator is eternal otherwise why it will come right from the ant the human being each and everyone no one wants to die where from the this notion came secondly we like to know anantam ghanam knowledge knowledge knowledge we like to know we like to know we like to know and that is the reason constantly we are researching we're researching outside this world the scientists constantly researching but the spiritual scientists are also researching their own mind why this type of thoughts have come out why I'm thinking in this way so they are also researching I say that this is my family but before the marriage I never knew this family where from this family came but I have started thinking this is my family and all around people say hey this is your family. So I started thinking this is my family but before that it was not there after me it will be like this only without me.

[00:19:24]So why then I am dying for this.

[00:19:28]So who am I? So this is the way if we try to understand we'll find actually this is nothing. This existence it is there except the body without the body I am all the time there how again you have to go another three stages of understanding jagrat swapna susi many of you know that the three stages what is jagrat waking stage so when we are all conscious body and mind alert. So what is we know that what is happening then jagrat I was almost dozing off in the flight suddenly the smell of coffee came then immediately I recognized oh this is the coffee time and those people are so kind they will never tell you sad do you like coffee so you are sleeping or you sleep so they will save their money so so by that way so I had to got up so immedi Immediately I got up and then I got alert and everything the coffee otherwise they won't serve the coffee.

[00:20:44]So why this? Because I recognize something. How I recognize because some cognition some idea is there already.

[00:20:54]Some idea is already there otherwise I won't be able to. Those who have not drank coffee doesn't know the smell of coffee. They say oh what type of smell is this?

[00:21:07]they won't understand. So obviously you must have to have some idea and we all have the idea of love. We all love.

[00:21:19]How it is possible?

[00:21:21]Because we are having that idea the love is already there within us.

[00:21:30]And when we are having that love where from it came we immediately recognize that he is loving and he is not.

[00:21:38]How it is possible? Because we it is already there. Kingdom of heaven is within you. Lord Jesus said what is that kingdom of heaven? Purity. What is the purity? Love.

[00:21:52]The love is the purity.

[00:21:55]When you love then you are pure. But with that also we say I only love my kitankin, my family, my country, my nation.

[00:22:09]Again you are giving the boundary.

[00:22:13]If you break that boundary you are God yourself.

[00:22:19]So that is already there. We know we understand what is love and also the unselfishness that is also present. Shami G also said each soul is potentially divine. And what is the divinity? Unselfishness.

[00:22:37]You feel for others.

[00:22:39]Someone somewhere suffering. You feel oh I am suffering or how could I live like that? Those people are living like that. Suppose I was there what would have happened to me? So I will go to try my best to remove that those sufferings.

[00:22:59]That is called unselfish. I don't know them. They're not related but I feel their sufferings and that is coming from the divinity. So that divinity is already present within us. But we superimpose on that pressurize on that all our selfishness.

[00:23:20]No, no, no, no. I don't have any time. I don't have any money. I have to only look after my thing and don't care about others.

[00:23:31]When suppose each and everyone in this world dies, only you are leaving. What will happen to you? Can you survive? No. We need everyone and we if we think in that way your mind is broadening that is knowledge.

[00:23:52]We search for the God. We go to the caves. We search for the God. We go to far away places.

[00:24:01]But God is just within us.

[00:24:09]Tachukshu, Amit, Kashidhira, some very calm, composed, quiet, intelligent people. They started researching where I will get all this knowledge. I have already visited all these places. Today again in the morning right hand side one gentleman who was sitting he was a golfer. She asked me do you also play golf? I golf I heard about it. So [laughter] never played but he's so addicted to that. The moment he could sit four or five times he got up to bring this that then afterwards a very heavy person but very good person. He sat and he started looking that golf playing and the how much marks and then who are the players etc etc. whole hour he was going on glued to that and the left hand side person he is a cameraman he was going going on researching on cameras so the just we love and we are that and he was going on researching on cameras different type of cameras I could see is observing the lenses then the effect of the camera and the pictures of the birds and sometimes something. So all through he was looking like that and why we do that they were not complaining why the plane is not moving because they don't have any there are a lot of time is there no problem 1 hour no problem so like that they were going on love them and I was thinking oh my god what will happen I am supposed to go and give a talk on Sunday and I have to reach so I was worrying mentally Of course on the face there is a smile. So no so as if it is okay but actually do those people what they will do they are trying their best and these are depends on love.

[00:26:19]If you love the world your mind goes over there and you find satisfaction over there along with the satisfaction suffering.

[00:26:29]But if your mind goes to God, you go over there and think over that and meditate over that, you read over that and then hear about that and ultimately in the beginning it is very bitter.

[00:26:44]But if you can develop love for God and you will get the best thing what satisfaction, joy, happiness from within the camera. No, camera is constantly changing because science is changing from the golf. No, but somebody is playing good and then next next.

[00:27:09]But God retaining same thing. The joy that the Lord Buddha enjoyed, Jesus Christ enjoyed, Bhagavan Samak Krishna enjoyed, same joy will come to me because it is never changing. That is why they say the God is constantly working in this way. But how I will know? Now in the path of knowledge they say first sana you have to listen. You have to hear hear constantly. You have to listen to and otherwise you will miss it.

[00:27:52]You are shana. Then after listening that you take that and sit in a quiet place manana you go on brooding over that pondering over that meditating on that.

[00:28:12]Then you become that and what you hear they're very short.

[00:28:19]They won't give you a long discourse.

[00:28:22]When you go to a realized person, sir, can you advise me? He will say I am Brahman.

[00:28:35]You are also that.

[00:28:38]But how can you be Brahman? You are a human being. How can you be Brahman?

[00:28:43]But then the pichar will come. Go and meditate on that. Think on that. Aam brahmi. And what is Brahman? Brahman is all pervasive consciousness.

[00:28:58]Now only consciousness by that way you cannot understand. Then what to do? It has three different way to understand what is they they were just simply mentioning so that we can have some idea.

[00:29:14]Sat anand s existence chit knowledge and anund that is the embodiment of these three existence knowledge and please I am that you are also that.

[00:29:35]Tut means that you or see you are you are that I am also Brahman. Yes. How it is possible? Now Brahman and me what are the common things? We'll come to that.

[00:29:50]You listen to that first.

[00:29:53]Then you go to a place and you see it and meditate and go on researching how because you have heard different people and from different scripture the knowledge has come and you are analyzing analyzing analyzing just like the research the scientists they have done some research on the basis of that the young scientists they are making the progress They research on that. Ours is also the same. But there is no progress. Nothing some extra. Same thing you are discovering.

[00:30:34]In the science they discover many other things but here it is the same thing you are discovering. You say who am I? Then when you look at your yourself what you see first I cannot survive without food.

[00:30:54]Then they discovered that without food I cannot survive.

[00:31:01]Then it comes pranaya.

[00:31:04]Without breathing I cannot survive.

[00:31:08]The first time analyzing myself in the path of knowledge. Who am I? The guru said you are that Brahman and Brahman existence knowledge bliss all pervading consciousness but then I turn to myself who am I am I survive on food only without food without the water I cannot survive second without the breathing I cannot survive I need oxygen otherwise it is impossible the pranamaya And when these two are there I need some friends also association company because that is why call monomaya I have a mind I like to share something otherwise I'll become mad it is not possible the people when they are writing books they're publishing when they are writing poems they are also publishing and telling it to others so obviously I like to share monomaya only food only breathing can I survive? No, I need the company monomaya. Then beha, I like to argue. I like to know. I like to research. I like to understand.

[00:32:32]But it has been said to you, we must do that. Only animals they do. Animals will be trained up and they do like that. But the human being will be constantly asking question because the big janam maya the knowledge is there in the Hinduism it is allowed they will never say I don't ask question whatever has been said you do that no they'll say you must ask question you must know it properly in the in the Hinduism there is a called prashnauish prashna means question and there is a upon Punish kum is why he's going on asking asking asking so that is there because I am discovering I am following the path of knowledge and in the path of knowledge first thing I go to a guru and guru says you are that and I am also the same and he is not explaining Anything else you take that sana after listening you go to retire to a place alone and researching going on analyzing yourself and in the analysis you first come yes I need food to survive but Brahman doesn't need it I need oxygen to survive Brahman doesn't need it I need friends to spend some time Brahman doesn't need Did I need the knowledge? I'm asking question.

[00:34:15]Brahman never ask questions.

[00:34:18]But then what behana maya after that comeand maya go there the happiness is there but it is temporary happiness with the agana it is not that anund but in the anund in the bliss I get the best time soaya pranamaya vyanaya anandaya goa And they say beyond anand maya kosha you have to go beyond that then only you can realize.

[00:34:58]Majority of the people when they reach to the anand maya kosha they are satisfied because there they get lot of joy and they think this is sufficient.

[00:35:09]And some people when they start meditation and they have a know idea that when you are meditating some special thing will happen supernatural thing will happen and some people will say we have seen Krishna we have seen Kali most of the people they say Kali I don't know why but the I have seen Kali and someone will say that Ganesha was instructing me the one boy at 2:00 he came and he was knocking at the door of one of our Swami G and Swami G said 2:00 what happened he said something serious he opened he said Swami G Lord Vishnu came and told I should get initiation from you and he became very angry tell Vishnu to inform me and go and sleep let me sleep also with this type of imagination that is not the thing you have to go on analyzing analyzing ing analyzing then you are coming to the anand maya what is the the proof that I am improving in my path anund you'll be always happy but that happiness will also depend on many condition and whenever there is a condition means you are limited you have to have that same situation then only you get the anund otherwise you So that is also not the ultimate an then in the bib shankarachara says and here comes after you analyze that then practice what are the practices moka moka is not god realization it is not going to heaven it is the moa is the liberation from the circle of birth and death completely different. So what is that?

[00:37:13]When we try to go to heaven that means we have a desire what is the desire I should enjoy in a better way. Here I am enjoying but in heaven I have heard the much much better things are there and moreover you need not to work to earn money. It is all freeing in heaven.

[00:37:36]and everything just over there go and pick up and enjoy just idea like that it is not you have to earn it but anyway after that again you have to come back so Hindus they thought no it is of no use I will go to the better place again come back again it's not moka how we can go beyond this circle shankar now teaching The very first teaching, the very first thing that you should do very clear should not have any desire. You have to give up those perfectly. I was a little let me enjoy and then those who are having the sugar they love to eat sweets and they will tell to themselves a little sweet not much but and then they will go on little little means they will eat lot of sweet and then they will go to doctor so that is the no giving up giving up when I have given up I have given up I won't turn to that what I'm going to give up those things that are not permanent those are which are not permanent what are not permanent everything right from the sun down to this grass everything is impermanent it's not permanent so obviously I should not think of anything of these is look at this people say oh dharma it is nothing only for the ordinary fools they can't do anything in the world so they go for dharma it is nothing tremendous fight and the god has nature has already given you the five things inside they will drag you out to all these five organs five organs going to the five objects all the five organs will pull you out to the five objects.

[00:39:58]See the beautiful thing, see the wonderful smell, see the excellent taste, see the touch. All these things will go and you have to fight with yourself. When you are fighting with others, then it is easy.

[00:40:14]But when you are fighting with yourself and inside then what you will do obviously you have to All these all these objects whom we call object anything that we can touch, we can smell, we can taste, we can feel like that anything with the five organs in the buri 69 First it says that you have to give up all those. How? Sho dama upurati sdha samadhana.

[00:41:04]Shama dhamma upurati titika sradha and samadhan. These are the six jewels that a religious person who is trying to go through the path of knowledge should have without that you cannot move to. So anitu means mona buddhi everything.

[00:41:32]So when I look at this trees, yes, sometimes I I looked at that tree, it is now dry. Everything is green. That poor fellow now dead. Now our thought is which side it will fall? If it is falling inside the jungle, no problem.

[00:41:51]Coming over here means we have to again spend some money to clean that. So all these things are there.

[00:42:00]Though not only that my body is also Anita it is also growing and growing and growing and then ultimately it will one day it'll go. So anu and the shar when we see the physical body is this the only physical body that is there? No is the shukma shar also there is subtle body is also there.

[00:42:28]Those who are in the path of knowledge they should know all these. What is the shukma anamaya pranomaya monomaya anandaya?

[00:42:40]These are the shukma all these this is subtle thing and the main is the mind and mind gets the impression and with that impression that goes out after the death we are free. No, sometimes we think that is better to commit suicide because this is a terrible life. Let me commit suicide. But no, suicide means what? You're destroying your physical body only.

[00:43:13]Where do you suffer? Not the physical body. You suffer in your mind.

[00:43:20]After the death, mind is going with you.

[00:43:24]mind won't leave you and after giving up the physical body oh I'm free no mind will say hey what is free now you did that you again that problem so you cannot go beyond your mind so we should know this physical body So kana what is the cause?

[00:43:56]Ahana is the cause. What is the kana causal body? What is the cause that I'm born?

[00:44:04]They say it is only your ignorance. And what is that ignorance? The love for this world.

[00:44:13]Come back to the same place. Love for this world. Who created this world? Then the same God. Why he created to just to play and who is now suffering? God is suffering because God has created himself all these.

[00:44:35]Now God is enjoying, God is suffering, God is advising, God is like this going on. If you understand that then from the path of devotion you are free.

[00:44:49]And if you don't believe in the devotion on the god then analyze and you'll reach to the same goal. That's why Bhagavan Sama Krishna said both are reaching to the same goal. One is nati nati another not this not this this one this one. How he gave an excellent example. He said when you are going to the terrace of the house on the roof of the house to see what is this roof actually made of. Then the people said the same thing the steps we made of the same thing. No no no no I have to go over there. So he is ignoring the steps not this not this not this not this. And when he reaches to the top he sees the same thing with which the steps are created that is that roof is also the same. So ni ni not this not this you reach to that and this ei this is my god's creation the god has created me too god has created problem and god has given the solution. God is the as a teacher and God is suffering like that.

[00:46:05]If you then you are not suffering at all. The paths are little different practices are little different. Goal is the same.

[00:46:15]He gives them beautiful example. There was a very holy person.

[00:46:20]He was the tailor. After completing his job in the evening, he finished his puja and took the dinner and he was sitting outside and taking the name of God and thinking about God before going to bed.

[00:46:36]In the meantime, some people they looted something and they were carrying the heavy loads. They thought that that that they saw the person is sitting over there and told hey come otherwise I will we will kill you and you have to carry the load and they give the load on his head. He was also following them. Then in the meantime the police came those decoids they left this fellow with the whole load he was arrested he was taken to the jail. Next morning the whole village came to the police station said it is completely wrong. We know him. He doesn't know anything but Rama.

[00:47:20]Everything Rama Rama Rama he's a very holy person. How can he do this? We do not know. You have to go to the court.

[00:47:28]And they presented him to the court. And the judge also asked all these people they saying that you are a holy man. How come you are carrying those things which doesn't belong to you? Then he said after at the wish of the Rama I finished my work. At the wish of the Rama I finished my dinner and because of the wish of the Rama I was sitting over there. The wish of the Rama this decoys came and asked me to carry at the wish of the Rama police came and arrested. At the wish of the Rama I'm standing before you. everything Rama's wish.

[00:48:08]Then the judge understood of course very good judge he understood that this is a very simple man he never did anything but whatever came he was going on doing in the name of Rama that is called devotees path he's suffering he was arrested but he's not blaming anyone is all Rama Sri Ramachandra wanted that I should be arrested Ramchandra wanted that I should be in the court Ramchandra wanted the whole village will in my support.

[00:48:39]Ramchandra wanted that judge will also feel sympathy for me and respect for me, release me. He was depending on Rama.

[00:48:50]But a Gany what he will do? He won't blame anyone. I mean blame anyone also.

[00:48:57]Devotey is not blaming anyone.

[00:49:00]He's blaming Rama. Not blaming Rama did, Rama did. Rama did. Sometimes we are putting on now if you put on a sweater what will happen in the summer if you are putting on a sweater and naturally oh my god it's so warm you cannot like that for a ghanny I don't belong to this body I don't belong to this mind I belong to completely different place and that is full of joy anund this physical body then subtle body shukma shar then causal body what is that causal body I get associated with this that is the problem and if you don't get associated with this body no problem at all there's a beautiful song it says it sings like this oh my mind let us go back to our own abort Sams in this samsara and like a wonderer just like a tourist why you are moving getting involved to it. [00:52:28]So when we are living in this world like a tourist meeting everyone enjoying everything taking this photograph and eating and cruising all these we are doing but not attached to anything and just like that the guani they live in this world. Shankarachara was a guani he was living in this world but not attached at all. Shami Bibbeanandha he was living in this war and going on giving talks why to introduce Indian knowledge to this beautiful country America. Why America he gave first importance? Because free mind all other countries if you go except America you will never find free minds.
