This video demonstrates how law enforcement investigates identity theft cases through strategic surveillance, where detectives followed a UPS driver to intercept a fraudulent iPhone order placed under a stolen identity. The investigation revealed that the suspects had previously committed similar crimes, and during the arrest, one suspect attempted to leave her purse behind, which contained a fake ID in the victim's name. The case resulted in multiple felony charges including scheme to defraud, grand theft, criminal use of personal identification information, and possession of a fictitious driver's license, illustrating how identity thieves exploit delivery systems and how police use evidence collection and Miranda rights to build strong cases.

Identity Thieves Drove 60 Miles to Steal an iPhone. It Was a TRAP!Added:
I don't have to answer your question. I don't give you my statement.
>> going to roll your sleeve up a little bit.
>> Unfortunately, they are metal, I know.
So, they're not going to be the most comfortable.
>> I don't have to answer your question.
You said search my car. I didn't say that. Don't lie. You did say that.
>> I did not say that.
A man in Palm City, Florida checked his email and found a charge he never made, an iPhone over a thousand dollars ordered in his name shipping to his own front door. Six months earlier, the same victim's identity was used to buy phones through T-Mobile. Someone showed up to the UPS driver with a fake ID, claimed to be him, and walked away with the package. So, when another order appeared in March 2025, same victim, same setup, Martin County detectives made a decision. They were going to ride with the truck.
I'm just going to hang out for a little bit.
I'm going to have you step out.
Step out.
Please start. Please start.
Jans on the hood.
Place the phone on the top of the car.
Spread your feet.
I'm just going to detain you for right now, okay?
I'm going to get these out, okay?
I'm just going to detain you until we figure out what's going on, okay? The package is still in the truck.
Neither of them knows yet how long detectives have been behind that truck or what they already know.
Uh 67.
What happened? Stay over here. Lean Lean on this uh on this side here.
Anything else? No, I don't have any.
Anything in your bra? I can't see the bra.
No, I do you have any credit cards, any cash, anything?
Is this 10-4 if I call Sierra 94 transport car? Yeah. What's your ID, Jen? 645 645 The detective is not doing a routine pat-down. On the other side of the car, Shenton has already decided how much he is going to cooperate. The answer is as little as possible.
Is your ID in the car?
I don't want you to search my car. We'll get to that.
Is this your car?
I don't want you to search my car. Okay.
She knows the woman who stopped this truck was supposed to hand a fake ID to the driver. It has to be on her somewhere. Can we get a transport cuz I need an IPC for this one? Work out Do what?
>> IPC for this one.
>> Yeah.
You want one transport car or two transport cars? I can probably only pull you one. One transport. I'll ask you if you want two. One transport.
You sure? Yeah.
What's your name?
Kimberly Do you have your ID in the car?
No, actually I have my ID.
Okay. A few seconds earlier, Kimberly was being detained. Now, a detective says they have probable cause, calls for transport, and tells her she is under arrest.
All right, now you're being placed under arrest. I'm being placed under arrest for what?
We'll talk about that at the station.
How's it going? You all good? Yes, sir.
All right, appreciate it, man. Um I don't know if they need anything else from you.
Um I know you have you know, stuff to deliver.
Um let me just make sure we're all good here, and then I'll I'll get you out of here as quick as I Thank you. So, you all good? Thank you.
Thank you. Have a good day.
Should we take that? I don't know.
Empty.
Okay. Do you have another pair of cuffs by chance? I do.
I'm going to bring you against the car for me. Okay.
And then spread your feet. All right, well, I don't know if you're even trying to run or anything.
Yeah, well, you never know.
If the package simply gets canceled, whoever is trying to pick it up may never show themselves. If it gets handed over, the victim gets hit again. I don't know the actual people who ordered it.
No, and they called AT&T and said we didn't do that, and they said, "We'll cancel it." But then he got the shipping thing saying yeah.
So, I'll just say that they refused to deliver or cancel it.
Okay, and then I'll go back to them.
Perfect. Okay.
Thank you. Thanks.
Thank you for your help. So, I haven't been told why I'm being So, that's how I know it's a scam.
So this is her investigation. I'm kind of just here to help out where I need to. So any questions you have, I would ask her. Yeah.
>> Shenton's first move is not to explain why they stopped near the UPS truck. He shuts the conversation down immediately.
If you want to go to the front of that car right there for me.
Thank you for your help. Absolutely.
Anything for you. He says my car, then immediately tries to pull it back.
Shenton has spent the last several minutes arguing about a line that was already crossed. [music] You want your wallet, correct? Yes, I need my wallet. Is this your phone? You want that, too? Yes. Do you have any property in that car that's yours that you want? Like do you have a purse or anything in the car? Your phone's in the car, and do you have like a purse or anything like that?
We're towing it.
But I mean if you have like a purse or something in there, I will get that out and take that with you.
Your whole bag? Okay. We'll get that and bring it with you. Both of them are in cuffs, the car is getting towed, and Kimberly is about to make a decision about her purse that is going to be very hard to explain. And the car that we're towing? I wouldn't if I was her, but I mean, it's going with her property. All right. Wait for me to sign the paperwork, please, sir, or I can check for fit. I'm just going to roll your sleeve up a little bit.
Unfortunately, they are metal, I know, so they're not going to be the most comfortable.
That is a strange call, because inside that purse, detectives have already found a fake ID in the victim's name.
Uh the vehicle's being towed.
So, you want your purse, I assume, or do you want it to go to the tow company?
I'm going to take your purse.
They can keep everything as long as my husband has his wallet. He's explaining the simple part. The rental is not staying there, and anything personal left inside could disappear once the vehicle leaves the scene. No, I mean, I understand it getting towed.
Okay. You didn't find a registration, did you? No. Okay, she's gone. Hey, what's your name, man? Officer Smith. Uh I was just trying to be polite, cuz I was going to ask you where the registration was, if if you know where it is.
Okay, that has nothing to do with this case. It's just I got to throw this out.
Get rid of it here.
You were recording, right?
Yeah. Okay. We all said it wasn't Sergeant? No, I'm not a sergeant. Relax.
Yeah, I said I wasn't a sergeant. No, I said if you want to rip out of it. The package brought detectives to the scene.
And then as the customer refused it, so perfect. Do whatever you want to do. All right. And just so you know, if anybody ever asks what happened to the package, you're on video with me taking it.
>> So, you're good. If you need me to sign anything, I will.
I mean, but if you want to call your boss and say, "Hey, Sergeant Decker took it." Yeah, I mean I still want you to get in trouble with that.
>> just take a picture of the Yeah, absolutely, man. Just take I mean, I still want you to get in trouble with But the package is still loose end. All right, give us his cell phone number.
You're hiding You're hiding your package, aren't you? Oh my god, you better not. Thank you. No, thank you, man. You like >> Have a good one. Hey, life's easy. You got to give me some excitement this morning. The driver calls his supervisor. He needs this clean on his end, and the officer needs the package preserved on his. What's up, buddy? Uh hey, um I obviously refused the package at the customer's house, but uh police officers would like to have it. So, obviously do you want me to scan it out or just give it to him as refused? Cuz he said he don't said he doesn't mind signing for it. I don't know. I don't know how that works.
Does he want Does he need the package?
>> Do you The other thing I can do is I can open this up real quick, make sure that there are actually phones in here. Okay.
That's the only reason I'm taking the package.
>> here. I mean, so here, I'll put you on speaker. The officer is not taking the package [music] just to take it. He needs proof of what is inside because later someone could claim the box was empty. Hey, the only reason why we're seizing the package is that way nobody can say that it's just an empty box.
Okay, so can we do this? I'll leave the package with him, and if you don't mind if I can come down this afternoon or tomorrow, open it up, take pictures of the phones, and then you guys can keep the package.
>> Yeah, that's That's our problem. Okay, I just got to prove that there's phones in there. Like, me and you both know that there is, but somebody else may be saying no, there's not. I'll come do it down there at the office. All right, thank you very much. We'll swing by later on today. What What time do you end up back? Man, like about 7:00. So, I'm coming by tomorrow. Yeah. So, I'll be there right now. No. Sorry about that. No, it's okay. No, I don't want you to anybody to Yeah, I don't I don't know if they're I never run into >> We've had it go both ways.
All good. But I appreciate you, man.
Thank you. Shinton walks into the interview room the same way he left the roadside. Shinton Saechanin?
So, you're not going to answer questions, is that You're not going to answer any questions? That's fine. I don't know I don't know what the situation is. No one said anything to me. Okay. Well, that's what we're in here talking to talk about.
Nothing to discuss. All right, I'm going to read you your Miranda warnings real quick, and then if you decide that you don't want to You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have them And you can decide anytime to exercise these rights. Exercise it right now. If he will not give his name, he gets booked as John Doe.
Um what I I can still get your basic information. So, your name I don't want at all. So, you're going to be booked in under John Doe and sit there until you're not going to get a bond. What am I being arrested for? Okay. Well, well, that's what we were in here to discuss, but you're being difficult. And with that, the interview was basically over.
All right, Reggie, you're right.
>> I'm not I'm not I'm not choosing to exercise my right, so what's wrong with that?
>> What's your name? What you just said.
No, I'm asking you about but I'm not asking you about the crime.
>> being disrespectful, right? I'm just putting it in writing, right?
>> Okay. You're legally allowed to do that, right?
>> here for a multitude of felonies. Me?
Okay. Yes. Yes. So, including scheme to defraud. So, we're going to discuss it, but you don't want to discuss it, so we're not going to. This is no longer just about why she walked up to a UPS truck. Detectives are treating it as a fraud case. So, your charge is going to be scheme to defraud, grand theft, and criminal use of personal identification information. In fact, in September, you were in Martin County doing the same thing that you're doing now. Do you remember?
I have you on video here, so What were you doing in Martin County right now? I was traveling with my boyfriend. Going where? What were you doing with your What were you and the UPS driver? Um, I just think this is my car. I was not close to anyone yet. You were You You were walking up to his truck.
>> I was walking. I was not walking to anyone specifically. Why were you walking? I mean, if I can >> holding you back from being honest with me? You're You're going You're You're getting booked on the charges, then. So, Okay. I just get my lawyer or my public defender. She was walking, just not toward anyone specifically. One more push from the detective, and the interview was over.
Ready?
Look at me. Look at me. Look up.
Do I have to follow you guys? Yeah, because I want to know what the picture is for. That's for putting your your stuff in the file. Kimberly was charged with four counts: scheme to defraud, grand theft, criminal use of personal identification information, and possession of a fictitious driver's license. The last two charges, the ID charges, came directly from what was in her purse, the purse she tried to leave behind in the rental car. Shelton was charged with two, scheme to defraud and grand theft. Drop a comment. At what point do you think they realized the truck was a setup? If you want more breakdowns like this, full cases, full footage, nothing skipped, subscribe.
