Flood Watch today as rain continuesAdded:
Well, folks, we're dealing with another round of rain this morning. It's pretty spotty in terms of who's seeing rain and who's not this morning. We're going to find that increase those as we go through the rest of the morning. Right now from Campbell and Primrose from our Ozark traffic camera network, we're seeing a lot of heavy rain now on the south side of Springfield. And that's going to kind of be the case. There'll be pockets of heavy rain locally that do produce some localized minor flooding through the rest of this morning. So, cars out and about driving are going to have the wipers on high. You're going to need to also be cautious of any kind of flooded roadways out there. Turn around, don't drown. All right, let's take a look at graphics now from Max One. We can see that rainfall has been pretty heavy for us, especially from yesterday in parts of Christian County down at Taney and Stone Counties and also areas of northern Arkansas seeing some of the heaviest rain from yesterday. Parts of Marion County, Searcy County, down towards again parts of you know, just south of Mountain Home, Baxter County, and Stone County seeing some heavy rain from yesterday. And there was big flooding yesterday in areas of northern Arkansas. The rain has ended largely, so the floodwaters receded some, but now rain returning. And so floodwaters going to be rising again in some spots for this morning. Rain totals again were highest from Yellville to just to the west of Mountain Home and just to the east of Marshall between Mountain View and Marshall had anywhere from 4, 5, 6, even close to 7 inches of rainfall estimate at times across north central Arkansas.
This morning, rain continues and it's going to continue to expand as well. A little heavy shower now going through Stone County in southern Missouri. And then also some spotty heavy showers going through northern Arkansas and then a cluster of storms up north in central Missouri. So again, from Yellville, probably going to find high water again locally as a heavy storm moves through there. Jasper, Huntsville, Harrison to Berryville, spotty showers all across parts of northern Arkansas. There's that one cell coming through the Springfield area now, finding some heavy rain here locally, as well as down to Galena, and then more rain up toward Buffalo, Phillipsburg, Lebanon, Waynesville, Camdenton, Lake of the Ozarks, Versailles, and Eldon, and all toward Warsaw and Clinton going to find some rain this morning. There's a flood watch that's going to be through 10:00 a.m.
this morning. It may be expanded a little bit for later today, but this morning, heavy rain, 1 to 2 in in pockets, expected across southern Missouri and parts of north central Arkansas. It could lead to some local minor flooding, similar to what we had yesterday, once again, all right?
Looking at Futurecast for the rest of this morning, heavy rain, generally stays fairly scattered for this morning.
And it might actually move to the east of Highway 65 for this afternoon. Okay, as we go into tonight, I think we're mostly going to stay dry. There could be some lingering showers though, but rain tends to wind down overnight tonight.
Saturday may begin with a round of rain, but generally looks like Saturday afternoon might find some dry time, and maybe even some peaks of sunshine for tomorrow afternoon. As we go into Sunday, may begin with some stray showers here and there, hit or miss, but by Sunday afternoon, we'll say midday through the afternoon Sunday, I think we're mostly going to find dry weather.
Maybe some clouds, a passing shower to the east and northeast, but otherwise Sunday looks like a warm, muggy day. So, Saturday scattered showers and storms there, and then Sunday we'll make it more just less likely for rain, probably mostly sunny to partly cloudy. After that, it looks like we're going to find sunnier and drier weather try to move in for early next week. Still a low chance of rain Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week, but the heavy rain, the widespread rain, our real last chance of that is going to be for today into tomorrow a little bit, and then things do begin to taper off, become more spotty Sunday and Monday, and it looks like we'll find a warm weather and humid weather for a big chunk of next week.
Little bit of sunshine, too, coming our way.
>> Okay, I'm just I'm ready for the doom and gloom to end.
>> I know, yeah. And today's kind of the last real gloomy day. There will be some sun, some breaks in the clouds over the weekend. So, it's not going to be a washout at all Saturday, Sunday. It's just the rain chances staying alive.
>> Ugh, gross. All right, well.
>> Today's the washout day.
>> Okay.
>> [laughter]
