To prevent arms from drifting behind the body during the golf downswing, keep your arms connected to your chest pivot by placing a ball in your arms, which naturally closes the clubface and forces your arms to follow your body's rotation rather than floating behind you; the lead arm should stay on or slightly above your shoulder line throughout the swing, and your arms should move with your shoulder socket rather than independently.

GENIUS Connection Drill That Keeps Your Arms In Front Every Time!本站添加:
What about for the players who their arms start floating behind? What do you do?
>> There's a lot of things you could do with that. I would say leave your arms alone. Okay. So, set up like you're going to hit. I'd say if we went here and you're working with a player, hold on. Start again.
>> And I said just put a ball in there. Go to the top.
>> Mhm.
>> Okay. Now, I said reflex it and go.
>> Yeah. Your arms can't go anywhere but where your pivot goes. Yeah. You know, if you want to start directing your arms behind you, that's because your face is open. Okay?
>> Your face is open and the first thing that matches up with an open face >> is path right of the face. Okay? You know what I'm saying? Or someone does that to square the face and come across it, too. You see those >> two two really big reasons why. So, another thing, put that thing in there and let go of those. Now, what I want you to do is set up like you're going to hit. Now, I want you to just clap your hands together. And now they're on the same path, right? Okay. Now take it back and I'm going to add a little form roll.
Okay. So if you do that and you have that in Okay, start down. Now your arms are going to stay tighter. Okay. So the more and more we get the arms here compared to in this position. This is cocking the wrist and making this trail arm go into pronation. It's also bringing the elbow behind you. So when you come down and you start doing this action, you're adding radial, you're adding pronation, you're adding your arm behind you internal, and now it's jacked. Okay? The face is opening like crazy and then you're in trouble. So if you keep it here, the more you keep here, the more you're going to want to close it. That's why the easiest for me to teach is when I have these G snaps on. Okay? And I'm not trying to sell you G Snaps. I'm just trying to tell you that if you put this Go ahead. This is a great combo for putting a ball in your arms because the more you put a ball in your arms, we're opening the face.
>> Agreed.
>> Okay. The more we put the ball in the arms, the face is opening. So, you better close it. Okay. So, go Paul, I'll put it in for you. Go connect your hands. Good.
>> Now, halfway back and don't do anything different.
>> Okay. Now, go ahead and flex or extend that >> right there. So, see, and I would say, okay, right there. Now, just start pivoting.
Your arms go with your body.
>> Yeah. Yep.
>> You That's why I always argue that my arms don't have to come down. My shoulder socket brought the arms down.
>> Try and leave your arms up and do that.
>> Where'd they go?
>> They went down. Okay. The only thing that I think when people say get them down, >> I don't disagree with that. I think they come down because the shoulder socket as I go up, as I go down and I don't go like this, but if I go down, my arms came down with me. I'm not going like this, it' be, you know, slow play. I'd never hit the ball. Okay. The fact is is they're going down with my pivot. Okay?
[snorts] And and the fact is is that when I snap that, they really go down without that arm wanting to go behind me. If I have the ball in, my wrist and my elbow is going to go like this, and I'm going to try and square it always.
So, I feel like a super important pressure point in the golf swing based on what you're talking about here is the lead arm and the chest.
>> Yes.
>> What about those players who are, let's say, letting the lead arm roll and lift off the body either, let's say, later in the back swing because they're trying to perfect the plane of the golf swing. Or in the down swing, I can still keep this ball in, but arms really far apart, disconnected. Great, great question. So, when I look at somebody like this and I put my left arm out, I go, "That's forearm rotation. That's internal shoulder rotation." Okay. So, the difference is is I'm not really rotating this upper arm. I'm rotating my forearm to get this pointed up ball line. I'm keeping this connection. Okay. And when I start down, a lot of players do actually rotate that, but that doesn't mean it rotates and comes off your side.
Now, Victor Havlin does that. He's pretty damn good. You'll see Brooks Kepka, his comes off. You look at Johnny Reese, his comes off. A lot of those guys come off. Now, give me that thing.
Okay. So, you'll see a lot of players who do have this come off internally, but that doesn't mean it's right or wrong. It's just you're seeing a lot of players do it. Okay. So, if I threw this into this position, and I'll do it to you just so you can have a feel. I got it the wrong way twice. Okay. [snorts] Leo, come here and put this on, please.
He's got it, bro. There you go. Okay.
So, this would be someone adducting this arm into the side. Now, not everybody's going to duck this 90°, but if I did, that's a full back swing. So, when you see somebody who doesn't do that, you're going to see a really short back swing.
Okay. So, a lot of players do have some slow down. Yeah. So, you didn't have any adduction. Let's do it again.
>> So, let's when I was young, I used to do this.
>> Oh, you [laughter] do? Okay. So, now do it again. No adduction. Yeah. Now, what we're going to do now, get behind him, though. Start from start. So, just one piece to here. Now slow down a little bit and fold. Boom. Now go ahead and go all the way top and boom. Right there.
So that's what a lot of players would do. But if you never slow this chest down, you'd be 90° with your chest by here.
>> Yeah. And they average is about 60.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. So there is some slow down of the shoulders, but then they finish. Okay.
>> How much of that is the lead arm moving across verse up?
>> It's very much across. It's very much across. So, I would say it's not across and up. I feel like I don't have much up. And the way I prove that is I go, listen, is this on my shoulder line?
Yes. So, a lot of people have their arm on their shoulder line. So, I turn dead level. I go into my left bend and my arm is on that same position. So, I didn't change it. I've changed. If I was hitting a long club, it would be like this. If I actually had a longer a little shorter club, it'd be here. If I had a little shorter club, it'd be here.
So, it's always my left arm is always going to be on my shoulder line or a little above it. Not many people are flat of it. Some are.
>> Would you say it's easier to strike the ball from a position where the hands are super high like a JT verse maybe like a cooch? Which one would you prefer?
>> I think if you're looking for rotation, I'd say left arm on the shoulder line is a lot easier. But you're looking at at what do you call Justin Thomas. And Justin Thomas actually has a lot of rotation. So you can't say there's a correlation there because you've already lost that battle. You're like, "Oh, he doesn't." But you're going to understand that if this is rotated how much most players are, and some a lot of players are more here. Okay? So they're up in this position. Okay? So if that's where a lot of players are at, and then they throw it up here, watch what this arm can do. So that's not fully external.
Okay? External would be me going wider and down. Now, what's that like? Like losing an arm wrestling contest.
>> See that right there? So they're lo. So if I went up here and said I just rotated and have it a little back and I went up here and I had a little arm wrestling but my arm got up higher. I still have room to get my arm to go this way but it's not thumb this way where my elbow goes behind. When you see somebody's real high a lot of times they get it back this way. That's still external behind you. So your hands are going back but your elbow's not.
Everything's not going behind you. It's just up here and it's this way. It's not up here and this way. And I see both of them.
>> So would you say that players who have a very weak trail hand then are making it harder for themselves than they need to because it's not on that same track.
Basically what you're talking about I do. Yeah. For sure.
>> If I'm here for example what we were just talking about >> that's going to be a more open face too.
You're going to have which means that they're going to either have a stronger left hand or more flexion in the hand.
>> So this is almost the worst grip that you could imagine in the golf swing because it's going to encourage them to >> Well, yeah. 100%. a lot of things. The reason that a lot of coaches teach this right here is because I it's a lot easier to fold this back for a lot of players. So, when you get a player like this, I don't mind this at setup at all.
I'm not saying this is correct, >> but I have a lot of players who get their arm behind them, but then they have that depth to get over here. So, they go into a later Yeah. or even that even a later shot and they even go like this to this. But I also get guys who pull a chain but then get into a place where they're here. And I see people pull a chain all the way and they're stuck behind them. So you go, "Oh, well, you got to do this." It's like, "No, you don't. You can do that, but you don't have to. It's just like I said, it's about the matchups for >> that's where it's going to move to." So I'd say if you were here now, let's go external. See, that's more external, right?
>> That's where a lot of my players turn, turn, turn, are going to be up top, finish the turn. But that's not fully external. See, now you cheated. Okay.
So, let me show you how you cheated. I back in front of >> Exactly. So, everybody does that. You're not the only one. So, when I go over here and I said, "Okay, that's a pretty decent position." And I'm like, "I'm not that flexible." I'm going to bring that back to there. Okay? That's what everybody does. So, what I do as a drill to get more flexible and I'm 54, so I'm old. And the fact is is when I get up here, I'm trying to reach this. Okay?
So, I reach this. Now, the best way to reach it is, remember, the less left bend you have, the further you are away from that. The more left bend you have, it's moving your glute back. It's giving you more tilts. Everything's actually happening. And that doesn't mean you have to do it right away. A lot of people do it later. Left bend to get over to that position.
