Search warrant executed at Ohio spa after months-long investigation, owner in jail

[00:00:06]Going in there and rescuing those victims. Monday morning the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, Ohio BCI, and Powell Police searched the business for evidence of illegal activity.

[00:00:18]Officers arrested K Spa owner, 51-year-old Yish Young Ha. She's charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering. Court records include acts of sexual activity for hire took place inside the business.

[00:00:32]>> A lot of times they're Asian nationals been brought over here legally or illegally and then told they were coming for something else or different job for like American dream and then held in these massage parlors.

[00:00:48]Most of the times they live there.

[00:00:50]They're forced to do things that they nobody would want to do and no way out. Teresa Flores founded the organization SOLE and survived human trafficking. Investigators did not say whether K Spa's involved in trafficking, but Flores says it happens everywhere in Central Ohio including more affluent communities.

[00:01:11]>> It does. I mean even if in my own story, you know, I grew up in an upper middle class suburb and so nobody's exempt from this, you know, there's vulnerable kids out there.

[00:01:21]Lots of runaways and missing kids.

[00:01:23]But I maybe these massage parlors go there because no one's looking for it in those places. Last Thursday investigators searched Rejuvenation Spa near Dublin and Red Bean Spa in West Columbus. The city attorney shut down both businesses. Zach Klein says they're accused of operating an extensive prostitution network. Plus investigators are looking into reports of human trafficking. So the next step is we need to get these guys prosecuted for their actions and and a lot of times that's not happening. So we need our prosecutors to really take this serious and go for the gusto on these charges.
