During months 9 and 10 of pregnancy (weeks 33-40), the baby undergoes final developmental stages including weight gain, fat storage, skin thickening, and lung maturation, with most babies turning head down by 36 weeks; Group B Strep testing is recommended between 35-37 weeks to identify bacteria that could pose risks during delivery, and babies are considered early term at 37 weeks and full term at 39 weeks when their lungs and organ systems are fully developed.

Third Trimester - Your Pregnancy Month 9 and 10!
Added:Their movements will reflect that. Group B strep bacteria.

>> Time to wrap it up. Put a bow on it.
Here's what's happening at the end of your pregnancy.
My name is Tina. This is Tuesday tidbit.
You're in and out of here. 5 minutes or less. We are finishing talking about what in the world is happening in that [music] pregnant body of yours. Because this right here is month 9 and 10. We are putting a bow on it and your pregnancy is slowly coming to an end. So month nine, this is weeks 33 through 36.
And if you guess that your baby is just finishing up all the odds and sods to get ready for the life on the outside, you are absolutely correct.
>> Winner winner chicken dinner.
>> Yes.
>> So they are continuing to put on weight and increasing those fat stores. Their skin is thickening up. It is getting less wrinkly. Their reflexes are far more coordinated. They can now also respond to sound and recognize voices and their movements will reflect that.
Their immune system is further developing and their lungs are continuing to develop, getting ready to breathe the air. Your baby's movements, they are really, really cool. They're so purposeful. They can actually grasp things. Sometimes you'll see them sort of snuggling with their umbilical cord if you do an ultrasound, and they can turn their head and move it all around.
And then most babies are head down by around 36 weeks of your pregnancy.
Size-wise, your baby is around 18 to 18 1/2 in long, between 5 1/2 and 6 lb, and about the size of a pineapple. I wanted to lump month nine and 10 together so we could talk about group B strep testing.
This is something your provider is likely going to suggest between about 35 and 37 weeks of pregnancy. And this is one swab that goes between the vagina and your rectum that tests for exactly what it sounds like, group B strep bacteria. Now, we always have sort of bacteria cruising around all the time on our skin, but if you happen to have group B strep bacteria and it's in the area where your baby is passing right through, well, that does pose a slight risk to your baby. So, I'm going to link a video up top all about group B strep so that you can sort of really really look into it. But that is where this testing will come into play. You made it to month 10, the final countdown of your pregnancy. This, of course, is weeks 37 through 40. Now, if your baby is born at 37 weeks, this is considered early term.
And if they are born at 39 weeks, that is considered full term. And at that point in time, your baby's lungs are considered fully developed, as is all of their other major organ systems. Now, those fine hairs, that lenugo, they are mostly sloughing off by this point in time. So, you might actually see them in your amniotic fluid when your water breaks. And that verix, that cheesy protective covering, it's likely going to be more if your baby is born closer to 37 weeks and a little bit less if they are born closer to 40 weeks. And your baby is hopefully head down by this point in time, but they might actually also be engaging into your pelvis. So, you might start to feel some of that pressure down there. And size-wise, it is your last size check-in. Your baby is likely between 19 and 21 in long, between 7 and 8 lbs, and about the size of a watermelon. Guys, if you like this series, hit subscribe, click those notifications, share it with your pregnant besties. I got big goals here.
This is last week's. This, of course, is month eight of your pregnancy. As always, be happy, stay healthy, have fun. Bye.
