Tesla is trading proven mechanical reliability for software-driven complexity to solve a problem that traditional sensors already handle well. This "AI-first" approach sounds revolutionary but introduces unnecessary risks of false deployments due to vision errors.

ALL Teslas Are Getting Safer? | Tesla Time News 621Added:
Hey everybody, I'm Zach.
>> And I'm Jesse. You're >> watching Tesla Time News, >> episode 621. And now you know.
So the S&P Global Mobility US loyalty rates by automaker list is out. Let's see what is CY and PY.
>> You don't know what that means automatically.
>> Uh CY is current year. PY is previous year.
>> Okay. So, for the current year, 2026, it looks like Tesla has the highest loyalty rate at 61.1% beating out Subaru and Toyota.
>> Even Ferrari. It beats out Ferrari.
>> Yeah. I mean, if you buy one Ferrari, you really going to buy another one?
>> Of course. Wes Smorl says, "Often hear people say that other vehicles are ruined after driving a Tesla. The data seems to agree." And Chimath Polyapatia says, "It's hard to understand what the other 39% are thinking. Once you drive a Tesla, it's like driving an allseeing sensor with a supercomputer behind the scenes doing all the decision-m, driving, and navigation.
Also, you never have to go to a gas station."
>> I do wonder though if the other 39% aren't a billionaire like Chimoth. And >> I think they haven't experienced it yet.
>> What do you mean?
>> I think they haven't experienced a Tesla, so they're they just >> But this is the loyalty. This is They already drive a Tesla.
>> You're telling me that people who drive a Tesla would then go, "No, you know what? A Bolt will be my next car.
>> That doesn't make sense.
>> There are cheaper electric car options, >> but you already bought a Tesla, >> right? So, you got the electric car thing and you're usually >> I'm going to save some money next time.
>> That sounds kind of crazy.
>> It's not might not be your car. It might be somebody else in the family. I mean, we we did this, right? I you >> Yeah, but loyalty implies that you bought the second car, >> but maybe you bought it for some You buy a different car >> cuz you don't like them as much. THAT'S WHAT IT IS.
>> I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT.
WELL, THEY'RE LESS EXPENSIVE. I mean, like I drove a Leaf, you drove a Tesla, you know, although I got the Leaf before your Tesla.
>> Yeah, but this wouldn't count in the loyalty ratings because it counts who buys the car is what I'm saying.
>> But a lot of times they had a household buys the car for the for the under, >> right? If they don't like the other person.
>> Tesla posted over 10 billion miles driven on FSD supervised.
>> Elon said 10 billion. Nitsa, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, put out new advanced driver assistance system test requirements for vehicles, and Tesla's Model Y is the first vehicle in the nation to pass them. Nitsa's administrator, Jonathan Morrison, said, "By successfully passing these new tests, the 2026 Tesla Model Y demonstrates the life-saving potential of driver assistant technologies and sets a high bar for the industry. We hope to see many more manufacturers develop vehicles that can meet these requirements." It's so weird to read that someone in the federal government had something nice to say about Tesla.
That's just weird. We've been doing this show for over 10 years and we never heard that before.
>> No. And it's uh so Model Y is the first car.
>> So many firsts.
>> So many firsts.
>> The original four ADAS requirement were forward collision warning, crash imminent braking, dynamic brake support, and lane departure warning. So these aren't full self-driving features. These are the features that even if you didn't buy full self-driving are still in the car.
>> Exactly. But Nitsa added four more.
Pedestrian automatic emergency braking, which is becoming one of the um most important. There's so many pedestrians that are hurt by cars.
>> Lane keeping assistance, blind spot warning, and blind spot intervention.
And Model Y is manufactured after November 12th of 2025 have already passed these. So my question has been, and I've been asking Grock this, but Grock doesn't know. What is about November 12th of 2025? Like because hardware 4 was already in the Model Y's.
Did Tesla add something or is this just because Nitsa only tested this vehicle which is what I think it is?
>> I would guess that that is what it is. I mean I think that that's essentially the Juniper Model Y so they probably are testing models of car cuz that's >> so my guess is I mean comment down below but my guess is that other models of Teslas also pass this requirement.
>> It might have to do with that front camera.
>> It could that might be the big deal but it it probably doesn't have to do with all of those features. probably just has to do with one.
>> Tesla's filed for a new trademark filing with the US patent office.
>> A new Roadster logo. So, what are the four lines at the bottom four?
>> The filing says the lines depict speed, propulsion, heat, or wind.
>> Or wind.
>> That's what it said in the filing.
>> Well, well, I don't know how I love the logo, but it's a good sign that the Roadster is coming soon.
>> Yeah, cuz um you have 6 months from filing a trademark to actually release a product, or else you lose the trademark.
Uh, it was supposed to happen in April.
So, the clock is ticking though cuz remember Elon said we might even have an April 1st Roadster release and we didn't. It >> was a good April Fool's joke >> cuz we're getting some.
>> Yeah. And it seems like maybe the end of the year.
>> So, should I get a t-shirt with that logo on it?
>> Kind of.
>> Elon reposted this on the Boring Company. The Boring Company is excited to announce the first residential music city loop station agreement serving those living in the beautiful Prime Al cove and Paramount Towers in downtown Nashville. Residents will be able to take an elevator directly to a loop station within the building, board a Tesla, and be at the airport in 9 minutes or lower Broadway in 2 minutes.
>> Wow.
>> That would be a reason to live there, huh?
>> That's quite a perk.
>> Yeah.
>> Can other people in the neighborhood take advantage of that?
>> I don't know. So, if you've been driving by houses in your neighborhood that have solar panels on the roof, and each time you think, you know, I should look into getting solar panels, too. But then you get home and you get busy, and it just seems so overwhelming.
>> So many questions. So many things change all the time with incentives and tax credits. Who can keep up?
>> Well, that's why our friend Lincoln took his years of experience helping people go solar and he developed an AI called solarquestai.com.
It's there to answer all your solar and battery questions for free. And if you decide solar is right for you, Lincoln and his team will get your projects off the ground all for free.
>> So give it a try. We've been working with Lincoln for years and so many of our viewers have gotten their solar systems installed by working with Lincoln and his team. Go to solarqu questai.com and get your questions answered. So, the county of Grimes, Texas, could be where the Tesla Terraab gets located.
>> Grimes, huh? Do you think he chose it cuz uh Grimes?
>> I don't think so.
>> Oh, no.
>> Grimes County Commissioner Court is holding a public hearing on June 3rd to potentially approve the tax abatement proposal that would see SpaceX bringing in up to $119 billion in total capital.
What is SpaceX asking for?
>> Well, I look for that. The specifics are still being negotiated. So they had a meeting in May and they hadn't quite worked it out yet and so that's why they pushed it off to June 3rd. At that meeting we should hear all the details.
Elon posted this is one of several locations under consideration for what will be the largest and most advanced chip fabrication facility in the world.
>> And so where is it located?
>> Okay, so here's a map. There's Austin there on the left. Houston is on the lower right and Grimes County is right there. So it's not far from Austin >> and it's not that far from Houston either. And I think the thing is Tesla's in the driver's seat here because they're bringing in so much capital that I'm assuming they're getting these counties to kind of bid war on on where to go cuz they're going to have to build from scratch anyway. And if they can get a big enough tax abatement, then that'll give them the incentive to go there.
>> It's very similar to when Tesla was looking for where to put the Gigafactory, which eventually ended up in Austin, Texas, >> and it just changed Austin, >> right? And it could have gone in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There was a possibility. We don't know what the incentive structures were or if there was just some better reason to go to Austin, but a lot of it comes down to tax abatement. Imagine if you were at that meeting in Tulsa and you had been like on the edge of like giving them just a little bit more and you didn't.
>> I know.
>> I know. I know.
>> So, Grock now has connectors. What are connectors? The feature adds integration options including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, GitHub, Notion, and custom connectors for data access and action. So basically this enables Grock to handle real world tasks like email management, file operations, advancing its agent capabilities for users and Elon said progress. And then on Thursday, Grock computer was released.
>> Okay, so what does that do? Grock can now do work >> do work.
>> It can directly read well you can read it here. I haven't used it yet so I'm not sure but basically you can give it access to say Google Gmail and then it can write emails for you and so forth.
Now I asked like does this mean you're just going to start doing it automatically? was like, "No, I'll ask you first." But >> so this is similar to Claudebot. It's not the same as Cloudbot.
>> It's like a mini. It's You're right.
It's giving you some agents and allowing you with some level of safety because obviously it's all authenticated to let you log into some of your systems and have Gro start to do stuff. I mean, letting it do your calendar and stuff like that could be really cool. So, I'm going to be trying it this week and let you guys know if if you get a weird email for me, may not be for me. Hello, computer. SpaceX AI, which is the new name the company's going to be, by the way, uh have just signed a deal with Anthropic to lease them inference training for Claude. Let me just back up for a second because I know that people get confused by all these new words.
Anthropic is a company like Google.
They're new. They're a startup. They make an AI called Claude and they're going to be training it at Colossus 1.
>> So that's 220,000 Nvidia GPUs in one of the world's largest AI superclusters.
>> Exactly. And now SpaceX and Anthropic are discussing plans for several gigawatts of AI computing power in orbit with solarp powered data centers. Elon said about Anthropic, "Everyone I met was highly competent and cared a great deal about doing things right. No one set off my evil detector." I wonder what he means by evil detector.
>> Yeah. All right. I think this is the biggest story of the week here. Tesla posted Tesla Vision allows us to deploy airbags up to 70 milliseconds earlier if your Tesla detects an unavoidable collision. This can be the difference between serious injury and walking away from a crash. Take a look at this video they put out.
>> 70 milliseconds is like a blink of an eye. With the vision system, we're looking at up to 70 milliseconds earlier airbag deployment decision. But that can be the difference between a serious injury and walking away from the incident. We've been able to utilize a new capability of Tesla Vision supplementing our existing restraint system. So the way the system works is we've got cameras around the vehicle. So if we had a car accident where two vehicles are coming towards each other, the camera in the Tesla is watching that vehicle and can identify exactly when contact's going to be made and how severe the crash will be. That information is then passed through to the airbag controller. By passing that information across, we can rely on the impact sensors here, here, and here on this vehicle. We're still using impact sensors to detect crashes. We're just supplementing our decisions by using information from the vision system. This is going to roll out as a software update to existing vehicles. Tesla customers will wake up tomorrow morning, get a software update, and they'll have this new feature that makes their car significantly safer. This is something outside the bounds of the five-star safety ratings.
>> Milliseconds matter.
>> So 70 milliseconds. Most people don't deal with milliseconds that often.
>> Yeah, as a musician, I deal with it all the time.
And it's a huge amount of time. And I think this clip in the video, the one where the dummy is uh on the left is hitting the steering wheel and the dummy on the right is not. That should be your takeaway here cuz 70 milliseconds means nothing to most people. But if I'm in a crash and my head's already on the steering wheel by the time the airbag goes off, that's a completely different crash than one like on the right where the airbag's already gone off and I'm nowhere near hitting.
>> And so they're using the camera data to detect, hey, we're probably going to get into a collision. It it doesn't release the airbag at that moment. It still needs to get into the collision. But in many accidents, they're airing on the side actually, which seems incredible of later releases because they don't want the airbag to go off for no reason. And that's why there's usually multiple points that you have to hit before it'll go off. Now the camera's like, "We are definitely going to get into an accident, so get ready to launch."
>> So, okay. So, in as the car is crushing, normally it would have to hit a couple different crashes.
>> Now, now basically it's like ready to launch. Wow. Because so many people talk about an airbag as basically this thing that's exploding in your face, which is true, >> but you could see from the video, the two different videos that the one on the right, the airbag is fully deployed by the way better way to get an accent.
>> I mean, obviously, you're still hitting that airbag with the same speed that you were essentially traveling in the car, >> but at least it's there.
>> It's there. It's not coming out at you and hitting you in the face.
>> Elon said Tesla AI Vision deploys airbags before impact, which greatly reduces risk of injury or death. This comes for free on all new cars >> and they were able to install it on older cars.
>> Exactly. So, I can't wait to get more data on this, but it's really exciting.
>> As they said, it should reduce like serious injury from accidents, which is already Teslas are one of the safest cars in the world.
>> Just another reason to get a Tesla.
Exactly.
>> Absolutely.
>> Right. Time for some SpaceX news.
>> Singapore Airlines just announced that they will be installing Starlink terminals on their fleet of 145 aircraft starting early next year. Elon said Starlink on Singapore Airlines and that brings the count of airlines up to 37 that have Starlink. Wow. I don't want to jinx it, but SpaceX has just set a new record. Falcon boosters have now landed successfully 268 consecutive landings, the longest streak in history. You know the other company that did that? Oh, there is no other company that did that.
>> I was like, wait, what?
>> Elon posted Starship static fire. We're getting ready for that launch. And they stacked it. Oo, it's looking pretty, huh? So, we could be looking at uh just a couple days from now. Just fingers crossed that the weather's good. All right, time for some Patreon bonus stories. Congratulations to David Oldm.

>> All right, it's time for Elon's exes of the week.
X Freeze says, "This is what mornings look like at Starbase."
>> Elon said, "Version 4 ship will be much longer." He went on to say, "Starship 4 aims to achieve 10,000 metric tonses of thrust at liftoff, or roughly 22 million pounds of force, which is roughly three times the power of the Saturn 5 moon rocket." Damn.
>> Ezekiel Overreet says, "Here comes ship 40 as it heads to Masses for testing."
>> Elon said, "I love giant machines."
>> Dogen says, "Starship version 24."
>> Elon says, "Size does matter."
>> Elon said, "The path to pedawatts is mass drivers on the moon." Elon said, "Any technology invention can be assessed in terms of how it improves fundamental metrics. It is impossible to become a multilanet civilization without reusable rockets, just as it would have been impossible to colonize America with expendable boats." Elon reposted this from Tesla Europe. Tesla owners in the Netherlands have driven 10 million km on FSD supervised in under a month. Thank you for making Dutch Road safer.
>> Elon said, "My grandmother was a housekeeper in England."
>> Elon said, "Ssri are a huge problem."
Lincoln says, "Do you plan on having extra computer to lease out in the future, or will SpaceX AI and Tesla be using all of it?" Elon said, "Just as SpaceX launches hundreds of satellites for competitors with fair terms and pricing, we will provide compute to AI companies that are taking the right steps to ensure it is good for humanity.
We reserve the right to reclaim the compute if their AI engages in actions that harm humanity, doing our best to achieve a great future with amazing abundance for all. We will make mistakes as to air is human, but always take rapid action to address them." Tesla hype posted, "As long as we don't build Skynet, we're good."
>> Elon said, "Yeah, I think about that a lot. For AI safety, I am convinced of the old maximum that honesty is the best policy. The truth shall set us free."
>> You went on say XAI will be dissolved as a separate company, so it will just be SpaceX AI, the AI products from SpaceX.
Beth says, "Is there going to be a new logo?"
>> And Elon said, "Yes, so I guess that one will be going away." Elon said, "So much space in space that it boggles the mind." Elon says, "I have paid over 10 billion in taxes in a single year, more than anyone in history. If I exercise and sell stock options, the combined federal and state income tax is about 45%. I still pay California taxes for every day I spend there. Then there's another 40% tax paid on my estate when I die. Overall, I will probably end up paying trillions in taxes, but let's tax him more.
>> Yeah, cuz he's a billionaire.
>> What does he need the money for anyway?
Elon said the GB300 is the best AI computer. Elon said Hitler was a socialist, therefore all socialists are Hitler. He said it's too easy to troll smug libs, but it is so fun. X Daily News says news. French prosecutors have opened an investigation into X, seeking charges against Elon Musk and the platform for child abuse imagery, deep fakes, and complicity in denying crimes against humanity via the Grock AI system. Elon posted this in French, so I will do it in the obligatory French accent. They are ficker than a chocolate euro and ger than a flamingo and a fluorescent. And then he said, "Get out before I insult you a second time."
Which of course is from >> Montipite.
Elon said, "Congrats to the Starlink engineering and production teams on excellent work. It was great to see everyone when I walked to the production line in Redmond on Wednesday." Elon then posted this. "The human perceived RGB is image one, and the Tesla AI photon count reconstruction is image two. This is why Tesla FSD can see so well at night or through extreme glare." Elon said, "Those who do vicious torture and murder, where there is no doubt they are guilty, should be executed for the good of the world, or they will do it again to innocent victims." All right, time for new superchargers. What has there been this week?
>> We got the eighth stall in Bakersfield, California. Got the 16th stall in Santa Clara, California.
>> Number 66 in Nevada is the eight stall at the Genoa Golf Club in Carson City, Nevada. I guess >> yeah, that's the first of four businesses this week. There's the expansion from three to eight stalls in Hiang, South Korea.
>> The 16 stall in West Sacramento, California. Number 659 in California.
The eighth stall in Oruroville. The three stall in Changu, China. Number 106 in Italy. The eight stall in Aboli, Italy. The 21 stall in Gayorg Lemonu, France. Number 53 in Austria. The 12th stall in Viner Nordf. An expansion from 16 to 28 stalls in Nyborg, Denmark.
