Kerr County has installed six outdoor flash flood sirens along the Guadalupe River in response to Senate Bill 3, which mandates outdoor warning systems in high-risk flood areas to alert residents when flood danger is imminent; this legislation was passed following the devastating July 4th flooding in the Hill Country, and each siren is designed to be heard up to a mile away depending on weather and terrain conditions.

Kerr County installs new flash‑flood sirens ahead of summer camp seasonAdded:
Just days before the summer camp season begins for pretty much everybody in the state, Kerr County is now equipped with a flash flood outdoor warning system.
And this is one of six outdoor sirens located right along the Guadalupe River.
And that system was installed all in response, of course, to Senate Bill 3, which requires now outdoor warning sirens in high-risk flood areas to alert people when flood danger is imminent.
The bill, of course, was passed after the devastating July 4th flooding in the Hill Country last summer. Each siren is designed to be heard up to a mile away, depending on weather as well as terrain.
