I Tested INSANE Sleight Of Hand!本站添加:
Today, I'm going to be testing the most insane slight of hand I can possibly find. You see, the other day I was scrolling Instagram and I stumbled across this video showcasing some unbelievable card peeks using moves and techniques I had never seen before.
Moves so bold and so ridiculous I knew I had to test them out. So, today I'm going to try and find out if these are actually practical slight of hand techniques or if it's all a load of rubbish. Let's go.
The first move in this video, we are going to start pretty simple and then gradually get more and more unhinged as we go on. So, the first one I have a feeling will be the most practical one and that is this sort of diagonal card corner peek where you push the card in into the middle. I don't know what this card is and then using this corner, you kind of bend it with your thumb or your hand almost and you can see what it is.
So, in this case it's the ace of spades.
Yeah, okay. I'm I have a feeling that that will work. I'm going to sort of play around with it a little bit more.
So, I'm not really following any sort of tutorial other than the video which is meant to be a very rapid tutorial. I guess it's more of a sort of exposure video just because of the speed of it.
You don't really get an an idea of how to do it, but the peek happens right here. So, in this case that's the jack of spades. If I can just kind of refine how I do this. Does it happen lower down do you think? Like that almost.
Rewatching the video, it's interesting how high up it happens. I was sort of thinking that that the peek happened like down here almost which I think would be, you know, more convincing, more hidden, but actually in the video it happens up here and and the card is really sort of bent over. There's actually a lot of the card over here so that you can get the peek. Okay, I've been playing around with the move now for about 10 or 15 minutes just off camera. This is a very rusty performance that simulates what it would be like if you were in the room. So, if I close my eyes so I don't prematurely see the card, that right there is the card, and of course it could be, you know, shown around the room or whatever. And now I'm just going to lose it into the pack just like so. And um obviously, you know, the pack is squared up and on the table, and just with you thinking what the card is, I know that it's the Jack of Hearts.
There we go. Maybe it's because I've been doing it on loop for the past few minutes, but this does seem familiar to me in some way. I don't know if I've seen this somewhere in some magic book.
I'm sure the YouTube comments will be able to tell me if this does exist somewhere, but it's it's not unfeasible that you could do this move. It's it's not, you know, completely out of this world. I can imagine myself maybe in the moment doing this just kind of accidentally almost. It's one of those things you could just sort of accidentally discover. So, yeah, in terms of practicality, I'm going to give this a five out of 10. Maybe I'm starting harsh, but I just can't see myself using this move in performance.
This next move happens in the parting of the spread. As you're showing a card to your spectator, your thumb, it looks like, props up the card and shows it to you as well. So, definitely a more brazen move. Yeah, let's give it a go.
Let's give it a go. So, I think, from what I've just seen, as you're showing the card to your spectator like this, your thumb, and this is interesting. How is your thumb going to kind of bends the card like this and shows it to you, but as you're also showing it to the spectator. This is weird. How do I do that? I feel like I'm struggling with this way more than I should. How does my thumb prop this up?
>> [music] >> Oh, there we go. That's the one. Okay, so, I mean, it's quite a severe bend.
Look at that. It really crimps the card.
Goodness me. Okay, I think I've worked it out. The way that you do this one, not that this is a tutorial, I'm still testing these moves out, but from what I just discovered then, it's your other hand is going to clip this card a little bit, so you can start to bend before you let go. So, now obviously I know that's the four of hearts and it goes back in. And then your deck is left with a lovely big old crimp right where the four of hearts is.
>> [laughter] >> In the video, they really like hold the peak in this position as they're showing the three of hearts in this case to the spectator. They really hold it there, but I don't think it needs to be that. I think what would be more effective is just a quick peak and then I know which card I'm showing, four of spades in this case. So, all I need is that little bend as soon as I've seen it, it's it's done.
So, if I'm going to make an adaptation to this, it's definitely just the speed of it. So, a performance of this from the front would be, you know, tell me when to stop. Oh, right here. Okay, take a look at this card. Remember it, it gets lost in. I can even get you to shuffle. It's the four of diamonds.
Oh, that's good. I was not expecting to find something really practical in this video, but that's damn good. I'm going to give that an eight out of 10. I really like that. I'm going to give it one more go. Here we go. This is the card right here. Take a look at it.
And it's lost into the middle, the six of diamonds. Very nice. Next peak.
This is ridiculous. So, it looks like you take the bottom card, you pivot it at an angle, and then you fold it round the corner of the whole pack so that you can see the index in the corner. Okay, right.
Okay, I won't judge it until I've tried it, but I have a feeling this will be slightly ridiculous. Let's cut the pack.
So, I genuinely don't know what the bottom card is. I think the idea is you pivot it like this. I won't look, [snorts] but that's kind of the idea.
And then you fold the corner round so I can see it's the five of diamonds.
That seems like a lot of work. Of course, you could do this sort of you know, with fewer cards. You could say right, that's the the card that we've stopped at. No, I can't do it. It's too It's too ridiculous. Pivot it. Bend it.
Queen of clubs.
Oh, that's too much. That's too much.
So, let's say stop right here. So, that's the card. You push it off to one side.
Turn it, and then bend it, and I can see it sort of through my hand almost four diamonds. The whole sort of pivoting thing that they do in the video isn't even necessary. I've just found out you can literally push the card off and just bend it like that, and I know it's the six of spades. That's way easier. Like look, if I make a different card, all I do is I just push it round, and I glimpse that it's the four of hearts. I can easily do that. I think that is better for me personally. Yeah, this is really strange. I'm going to give this one a three out of 10. I am not a fan.
Hello there. Sorry to interrupt myself rather confusingly. I just want to let you know that my membership, The Magician Club, is currently half price for your first month for a very limited time. There's more than 140 videos. That's tutorials, masterclasses, lectures, deep dives, theory videos, so much more. All of my greatest magic, all of my best and most powerful secrets under one roof, and it can all be yours for $7.50. It is, frankly, a ludicrous deal. The stuff that I teach on The Magician Club is the stuff that I perform at professional gigs, the stuff that is my most closely guarded material, my A-side tricks. So, you can get access to all of it for a ludicrously low price. Hit the link in the description, go to themagician.club, and uh awaits you there. Thank you so much. It is the best way of supporting what I do as a creator. So, if you like my stuff, you will love the magician club.
And now we head into truly uncharted territory. This is a peek that looks like it happens as you cut the pack. So, you're sort of cutting the pack and you use the deck to peel back that top card.
So, from the video it looks like the top packet is kind of held in biddle grip and that this card is almost sort of poking over the side ever so slightly.
So, as the bottom packet comes over, I can catch it, bend it over, and see what the card is. Are you following this? It's so simple, right?
So, I'm not looking. That is the top card. Hopefully, it's a different one. I just shuffled. So, it's poking over the pack ever so slightly.
I can open my eyes now. I cut the pack.
Jack of clubs. Look at that. How smooth.
Okay, I'll show you this one. Don't know what it is. Closing my eyes. Here we go.
So, I take the bottom packet and I see the six of hearts. I'm not a huge fan. I do think that this is one of those magician eye candy moves. This is not practical, in my opinion. This is the sort of thing that magicians find entertaining to watch at magic conventions and go, "Oh, wow. Yes, I I've never seen that before. Bravo."
Myself included. I am guilty of that at magic conventions. I end up loving things that I know for a fact spectators don't care about or don't even know to care about. This is one of those things.
This is a move monkey move. There's nothing wrong with that, but in terms of performing it practically, no.
>> [laughter] >> No. It's a three out of 10 from me.
Now it's time for the final move of the video and this is a double peek. You are able to peek two cards from a kind of cutting motion. The first you bend your finger and you can see it, and the next, you bend the corner and you can see that card as it's lost into the pack. This looks very convoluted, very complicated, and uh let's try it for the first time.
This is kind of what it would look like.
So, I imagine they say stop whenever and you out-jog two cards, and you show these cards to your spectator. Now, the first one, you bend, much like the spread peek, you bend and you can see it just like so. That's quite nice. Again, uh as much as I love the creativity here, and don't get me wrong, although I've slagged off a couple of these moves, they are really creative. This is really creative stuff, and this is how great moves are invented, because someone played around with a pack of cards and they were unafraid to do stupid things with it, basically. Uh so, I've got nothing wrong with the the creativity at play here, but I think with this move in particular, you can tell it was created with the magician in mind, with the method in mind, [clears throat] because as soon as you out-jog two cards like this, you're actually showing three cards. If you were performing this to a spectator, immediately, it doesn't really make sense, cuz you're saying, "Yeah, remember remember those two cards?" So, already, I unfortunately don't need to play around with this too much to know that it's just [music] not really practical. I'm I'm going to give it a a four out of 10, slightly higher than the last one, just because part of it is at least workable, but yeah, too convoluted and uh definitely not designed with the spectator in mind. So, there we go. That is it for this little sleight of hand experiment. I really enjoyed doing this, and I only covered card peeks in this video, but I'd love to revisit this format and try it with other genres of sleight of hand moves. So, let me know in the comments what you'd like to see me test next, and a massive shout-out to the Instagram creator that spawned this video idea, Lulifang 7660, keep on creating inventive moves. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, guys. Hit the thumbs up button down below if you enjoyed it and subscribe to the channel on your way out if you are new. I do anything and everything to do with magic and I'll see you in the next video. Until then, take care.
