Allen Mogul headlight, power supply project box.

[00:00:00]Hey folks, welcome back to the Metalmill 52 workshop. My name is Bill. This is my shop and this is my Allen mogul steam locomotive and this the I did a series about the headlight here and I've just finished wiring up my little power box here. This will be a very short video, just five or six minutes, but I'm going to show you how I arrange thing things in the little power box. One detail I wanted to add about the headlight set up on my Allen mogul is the power supply. In previous videos, I've showed you the battery pack and how I organized that. And now I've got the switch mounted in this little, it's about a 4 inch by 2 and 1/2 inch by inch and a half deep plastic project box that I got off eBay. And nothing to it really. The only things I've done after I figured out where everything was going to go, I did measure and drill a hole here. I used a little step drill to drill the plast the hole in the plastic.

[00:01:15]And then I I used a file. I marked the area here where I needed the wires to come out. And I used a file to little make a little notch there. So I've got the power the positive hooked up here.

[00:01:29]The negative will come out the hole there. And then this is the the power the switched power. So, let me see if I can cram this all together so you can see what's going on.

[00:02:05]All right, there we go. So, got it to snap shut. And there's four little screws that I'll put in the corners here to to um secure the lid.

[00:02:38]All right, in conclusion, there's the little headlight. I've been away for a few weeks, if you've noticed. I haven't posted lately, so I finally got the uh power box hooked up here, and it's not very fancy at all, but my idea is I mean, it's it's actually, if you look at it close, it's pretty ugly.

[00:02:59]There's piece of lamp cord that I've wrapped around this um handrail here. And I'm using an automotive types connector. Just this is all for for function rather than rather than form.

[00:03:17]So without any further ado, here's here's the headlight on. Looks good. And this is the other on part. It's a momentary thing. So I could like hold it and just do a check. So here's the finished box. My idea is I would run this wire back to the tender and I'd be able to have this, you know, there you close at my feet or, you know, close at hand to be able to turn it on if I was running at night. And then if I'm not running at night at all, I could disconnect this connector and hide it basically and remove the ugly wire. So, that's that's the idea so far. Anyway, but I am thrilled with how the the headlight came out and the little power box. So, and in case you're worried about stuff rattling in there, you can hear, listen, I put a couple of popsicle sticks in on either side to keep the battery pack from moving around. So, that's all there is to it. Let me turn the light back on. If you have questions, please ask.
