[00:00:00]Astronomers discovered a planet where it literally rains molten glass sideways.

[00:00:04]The planet is called HD 189733b.

[00:00:08]At first, it looked beautiful.

[00:00:10]A deep blue [music] world floating in space, almost like Earth. But that color is a trap. This planet orbits so close to its star that temperatures reach over 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds blast across the atmosphere at more than 5,000 miles per hour.

[00:00:26]And inside those winds, tiny particles of melted glass. Scientists believe [music] the glass rain falls sideways because the storms are so violent.

[00:00:35]Imagine hurricanes made of razor blades moving faster than fighter jets.

[00:00:39]And it gets even stranger. [music] One side of the planet permanently faces its star while the other remains in endless darkness. A world split between eternal day and eternal night, which means the universe doesn't just create planets like Earth.

[00:00:52]It creates worlds so extreme they sound scientifically impossible.
