How to Prove You Couldn’t Get an Italian Citizenship Appointment

[00:00:07]Of course, we're back at it again with Italian attorney Marco Permon and I am Rafael Deurya. And in this week's episode, we wanted to continue the conversation on appointments for Italian citizenship and what to do before after 2025 uh with the Tayani decree and what happened there. Specifically in this episode, we wanted to talk about a direct follow-up to last week's episode where I asked Marco, if you were not able to get an appointment, what to do.

[00:00:33]But in this week's episode, I wanted to ask Marco a follow-up question that if a person was unable to get an Italian citizenship appointment before March of 2025, how can they prove that they were unable to book an appointment? There are several forms of evidence that a person can show to demonstrate that they were unable to get an appointment prior to March the 27th of 2025. For instance, it's possible to provide screenshots of the consulate booking system that show the unavailability of appointments. And of course, ideally, you want to show that appointments were not available over the course of weeks or months to show that you tried to get an appointment not once but multiple times and despite your effort, you were never able to make one. Also, the registration with the booking system of the consulate, which is confirmed by an email that you should have received when you activate your account, can help show your intention to secure an appointment with your local Italian consulate. and also communications that you had with the consulate. For instance, an exchange of emails or PEX or formal notices that you sent to the consulate maybe through an attorney or directly yourself can also help to show that you were actively looking for an appointment but the consulate was not offering appointments or the consulate was making it extremely difficult for people to secure an appointment. And finally, those who were in the consulate's waiting list can also submit evidence of the fact that they were in the waiting list, which also proves the fact that they were never called by the consulate in time before the law changed.
